In a doctoral program, committee members guide candidates through courses and professional experiences. Committee members ensure that candidates exceed requirements and receive a full, well-rounded education, specific to their interests and inquiries. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss course registration for the following semester and to make any necessary adjustments in your prospectus. You have 9 years to complete your Ph.D. program. This time limit begins when you take your first course toward the degree; or if you are seeking to transfer courses, your time limit begins with the earliest of those transferred courses. Kent State University requires Ph.D. students to complete a minimum of 90 hours beyond the bachelor s degree and 60 hours beyond the master s degree.
