1) To identify classes you would like to take, consult: Guide to Selecting Subjects at SDSU - If you are an undergraduate applicant: The General Catalog: http://arweb.sdsu.edu/es/catalog/quickref.htmll - If you are a graduate applicant: The Graduate Bulletin: http://arweb.sdsu.edu/es/catalog/bulletin/ - Both undergraduate and graduate applicants: The Class Schedule: https://sunspot.sdsu.edu/schedule/ If you need more detailed information about specific courses, contact the Undergraduate or Graduate Advisor in the specific academic department: http://www.sdsu.edu/departmental/. IMPORTANT DEFINITIONS * PREREQUISITES: Lower level coursework that must be fulfilled before a student can enroll in a higher level course. The General Catalog, Graduate Bulletin and Class Schedule all identify any prerequisites required for specific courses. Please review the notes at the bottom of the pages in the Class Schedule carefully. Exchange students should bring their own copies of transcripts and descriptions of relevant coursework completed (in English) to demonstrate to professors they have completed classes equivalent to required SDSU prerequisites before they will be allowed to attend classes with restricted enrollment. * IMPACTED MAJORS: These are programs of study for which student demand for classes far exceeds what can be accommodated. Biology, all Business-related programs, Psychology, Communications, Television, Film and New Media are im pacted (overenrolled.) For a list of all impacted programs, please see http://arweb.sdsu.edu/es/advising/impaction.html. Exchange students MAY NOT select courses exclusively from programs that are impacted. SDSU Course Numbering System Courses numbered 100-200: The most basic level of coursework, also referred to as lower division courses. No pre-requisites are required. These courses are generally taken by first year (Freshmen) and second year (Sophomore) undergraduates. E xample: Hist116 or Span212 Courses numbered 300-500: Usually taken by third year (Junior) and fourth year (Senior) and sometimes graduate (master's level) students. These are considered upper division courses and generally require completion of pre-requisites. Example: Span 302 - students must have completed Span202 and Span212 (or equivalent) in order to enroll. Courses numbered 600-799: These classes are open ONLY to graduate students, that is, students who have completed the equivalent of a bachelor degree. 2) Working with your advisor at your home institution, select 8 alternative courses per semester that will be relevant and approved for your course of study. Because course availability can be very unpredictable, students should list as many options as possible. List them in priority order (most desired to least desired) in the table on the following page. 3) Undergraduate exchange students are required to register for a minimum of 12 units (24 ECTS), graduate exchange students are required to register for a minimum of 9 units (18 ECTS), the equivalent of fulltime enrollment at San Diego State University. I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD THE INFORMATION IN THIS GUIDE. I ACCEPT THE CONDITIONS DESCRIBED HERE. Applicant's Signature Date Guide to Selecting Subjects at SDSU

SDSU International Exchange Participant Agreement As an international exchange student, you are encouraged to participate in both the academic and non-academic activities SDSU has to offer. However, as your program is based on academic performance, the following conditions are required to insure the academic integrity of the program. Please sign and date this form and return it along with your application. Your signature verifies that you have read this agreement and that you agree to abide by all conditions. If I accept placement as an exchange student at SDSU, I agree that: I will take part in all aspects of the exchange program, including orientation and evaluation. I understand that I must submit a SDSU participant evaluation at the end of my exchange. I will pay my home institution the designated program fee covering the full period of my exchange. I will have the status of non-degree student while on an SDSU exchange. Should I wish to seek a degree at SDSU in the future, I will be required to apply for admission as a degree-seeking student and submit all required documents as indicated in SDSU's admission policies and procedures. My placement will be limited to the period specified. An extension request is subject to review and approval by both my SDSU and my host institution exchange coordinators. My exchange may be terminated early by SDSU or my home institution if I: fail to remain enrolled full time (9 units for graduate students, 12 units for undergraduate students); fail to maintain a minimum standard of 2.0 GPA EACH semester during my exchange at SDSU; or am found by SDSU or my home institution to be in violation of laws or regulations of my host country or i nstitution. SDSU reserves the right to contact my home institution in the case of a medical emergency or violation of U.S. law or university policies. I will notify both my home institution exchange coordinator and the SDSU exchange coordinator immediately if I no longer want to be considered for an SDSU placement or wish to end my enrollment prior to the agreed upon time. If I withdraw from the program anytime after accepting the placement, or if my exchange placement is terminated after I enroll at SDSU, I may still be obligated to pay the full program fee at the discretion of my home and host institutions in collaboration and agreement with SDSU. If I have received financial aid for this program, I may be required to pay back funds in part or in full. Official academic records/transcripts of work I undertake at SDSU will be sent to my home institution provided that: all fees not covered by the program and any remaining balances which are my responsibility, are paid in full prior to my departure from SDSU. Otherwise, I will permit SDSU to withhold an authorized transcript until such fees are paid. AGREEMENT TO PURCHASE AND MAINTAIN HEALTH INSURANCE: I agree to purchase one of the health insurance policies offered through the International Student Center by the appropriate deadline. I understand that no other policies will be accepted with the exception of the policies offered through Fulbright, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Swedish Government (i.e. CSN), or the Norwegian Government. I will not be able to register for classes until this requirement has been met. Name of Applicant (print) Applicant's Signature Date SDSU International Exchange Participant Agreement
