Entrance requirements vary from each medical school. I want to be able to help a patient holistically as opposed to just having one modality in my practice. In the western world, many illnesses are just treated with drugs, which can be very hard on the physiology. I d like to be able to give the patient a choice regarding their treatment. If they want a treatment that is more subtle to their physiology as opposed to taking a drug that comes with harsh side-effects, I think this program is able to mold me into that type of medical practitioner. - Daniel Nola (Previous Pre-Med Student at MUM) 4 5

WHY BECOME AN INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE PHYSICIAN? Integrative medicine is the future of medicine. As an integrative physician, you will learn to not only treat disease, but also how to prevent it in the first place. The great thing about integrative medicine is that you don t have to choose between conventional medicine and natural medicine. Integrative medicine seeks to combine the best practices of modern medicine along with best practices of natural and preventive modalities to help patients achieve and maintain optimal health and wellness. You will be able to recommend the options for your patients that are most effective with the least harmful side effects. The goal is to enable your patients innate healing response to return it to its natural state of wellness, through the least invasive means possible. You will possess a rare skill among physicians. Dr. Moshe Dekel, MD, Dean of Holistic/Integrative Medicine at AUIS, discusses the doctor-patient healing relationship in integrative health care, The holistic approach is about helping the patient to be a participant in the decision making, by helping them understand their health issues, rather than making their decisions based on fear. We are looking for future doctors who are interested in patient care that includes more than just writing prescriptions. We want you to access the patient not just in terms of the symptoms they present, but rather understand and treat the root causes of those symptoms. This new curriculum will better prepare our graduates for practicing medicine in the 21st century. 10 11
