Uniform Information All you need to know about school uniform requirements
DINNINGTON HIGH SCHOOL UNIFORM DINNINGTON HIGH SCHOOL UNIFORM We are keen to ensure that we offer our students the best start to their adult life and promote an ethos of high expectations and high standards ensuring all our students aspire to achieve excellence. The rationale for the new uniform is as follows: To reflect government guidance which highlights the valuable role of uniform in contributing to an ethos of high standards, high expectations, achievement and success. To boost students self-esteem, confidence and stimulate pride in themselves and in the academy. To prepare students for the world of work by embedding an understanding of responsibility and identity. We look forward to Achieving Excellence in partnership with parents/carers. Blazers & Shirts All students will be expected to wear a plain white shirt - long or short sleeved (polo shirts and fashion shirts are not acceptable) with a house based tie. The school blazer must be worn during the school day unless given permission to remove the blazer by a member of staff in lessons. Students may choose to wear the optional black knitted v-neck sweatshirt with the school logo underneath the black blazer but not instead of. On very hot days, the Principal may allow blazers to be taken off all day but blazers must be brought to school. Trousers & Skirts Full length plain black conventional school trousers for boys and girls. They must not be tight fitting. The current fashions styles are not acceptable: eg. leggings/skinny legged trousers, jeans/jean styles/jean style back pockets, zip pockets, trousers with rivets or visible fashion labels etc. Girls may wear a black skirt (it can be straight or pleated but cannot be in a stretchy fabric) that is knee length and is not tight fitting. It can be worn with plain white socks or black tights. In all cases black means TOTALLY black. Trousers and skirts are available at Trutex www.trutexdirect.com, as well as other uniform suppliers.

This means no logos anywhere on the shoes; no coloured laces or other non-black detail etc. Low cut sensible ankle boots are allowed. Long boots, Uggs, Doc Martins, trainers/trainer style and pumps or any other style of footwear are not acceptable. Black means TOTALLY black. Headwear Hats and large coloured head bands are not acceptable unless it is snowing. Hoods can only be worn outside in the rain. Makeup must be kept to a minimum and no piercings are allowed. The only jewellery allowed is a watch and one pair of stud earrings in the earlobes. No extremes of hair styles or coloured hair will be allowed. Equipment Every student must have: A black pen and a purple pen* Pencil Ruler Planner School Bag Scientific Calculator ** School Bags All students must have a school bag. All bags must be large enough to hold all books, planner, equipment and PE kits. * A purple pen will be issued by school. Replacement pens will be provided free. SIZING, DISTRIBUTION DAYS & PRICES PE Uniform All students must wear: Navy blue football socks White socks Trainers Girls must wear: Plain white polo shirt Plain navy shorts and/or plain navy skort Boys must wear: Plain white tshirt School rugby shirt Plain navy shorts Other optional kit: Plain navy sweatshirt Dinnington PE sweatshirt or hoody Navy tracksuit bottoms (for outdoor in cold weather) We also recommend shin pads for hockey and football. All students are expected to wear PE kit and take part in PE lessons. Students are not permitted to wear PE kit outside of their PE lessons for hygiene reasons. For one year only, students can wear their old polo shirts as part their PE kit instead. PE Uniform is available from Imperial Sports eshop www.imperial-sportsltd.co.uk. All students will be measured for their uniform in school time on a rolling programme in April. After sizing, Trutex will prepare a student pack with your uniform items for you to collect on the distribution day. You may choose to order and pay online if you wish. All students will be able to collect their blazer, tie and optional v-neck sweater on Tuesday 11th July (Y6 and Y7), Thursday 13th July (Y8 and Y9), and Thursday 20th July (Y10 and mop up) in the main hall in school. Siblings can collect on the same day. The size allocated will be based on the sizing day but students can try their uniform on and check it still fits on the distrubution days. You will be able to exchange any item and will pay for your items on this date. Cash or card is acceptable. We are unable to accept cheques. You will leave with your uniform items on this date.
