No, the applicant has not to fill centre/place/date and has to dispatch all three copy alongwith application form. Where to mention the PH/FF/AF/ etc for reservation benefit? In application form only vertical reservation is mentioned therefore applicant after mentioning their category then in bracket they can mention their subcategory. 1. General Guidelines (a) This application is for admission to the various Ph.D. programs (see Annexure-1) offered by the M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly for the session 2017-18 on the available seats. (b) All the candidates who are not enrolled for Ph. D. have to apply afresh. The decision of the University shall be final in all matter. (c) All admissions will be carried out as per the Ph.D. ordinance which is available on the M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly website (www.mjpru.ac.in). (d) Applicants are advised to read the ordinance carefully regarding eligibility guidelines and other rules for Ph.D. (e) Foreign students have to appear in the written Research Entrance Test (RET) for (f) admission to Ph.D. program. Date of the entrance test will be announced by the university which will be available on official website. (g) Admit card issued by the university will be send by registered post. Candidate has to enclose a self addressed envelope along with filled application form. Admission Process There will be two streams of applicants, those who have to appear in the entrance test and others who are exempted from this test. 2.1 Applicants Exempted From The Entrance Test (a) Permanent Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Professors having appointment on substantive posts in the Teaching departments of M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly or a Government Aided College associated to the University who have completed their probation successfully with an experience of at least Two years of uninterrupted service would be considered under this category. (b) All candidates selected by the UGC/CSIR/ICAR or other central regulatory bodies for their fellowship, subject to the validity norms of the respective fellowship. (c) JRF, NET qualified candidates (With fellowship or without fellowship). (d) Candidates who have GATE/GPAT Score of not less than 90% and (e) Serving Army, Navy and Air force Officers of at least Colonel or equivalent rank with not less than 15 years of Service applying for Ph.D. in Defence and Strategic Studies. 2.2 Applicants Who Have to Appear in the Entrance Test (a) Applicants who do not fall in the above ( section 2.1) categories will have to appear in the entrance test conducted by MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly. (b) The applicants appearing for the Entrance Test would be required to pass the examination to be eligible for consideration for admission across all the categories. 3. Eligibility Criteria (a) A Candidate for pursuing research for a Doctor of Philosophy Degree of the University must hold a Post Graduate Degree with minimum percentage of marks 2
in the subject concerned and must fulfill other conditions of eligibility ( good academic record, and other stipulations, if any) prescribed in the statutes for the recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor. (b) Provided that in exceptional cases a candidate holding a Master's degree in an allied subject may also be considered for admission to Ph.D. Degree by the Research Degree Committee (RDC): (c) Provided further that the students appearing for final year of final semester, of their post-graduate degree examination will also be eligible to appear for the admission process subject to the fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria in the final result thereof at the time of admission. (d) Students having post-graduate degree from UGC approved Integrated Course with minimum 55% marks may also apply for admission to Ph. D. program. 4. Entrance Test Procedure (a) The University shall admit Ph.D. students (not fulfilling exemptions clause) only through an entrance test named as "Research Entrance Test for Ph.D." (RET). (b) The syllabus of the RET will be the same as prescribed for NET/JRF examinations conducted by the University Grants Commission/ Council of Scientific and industrial Research/ Indian Council of agricultural Research which may be seen from websites. (c) A written test shall be based on question with short answers, containing two question papers- (i) The first paper of entrance test comprises of objective and/or short answer questions of 100 minutes duration containing total 100 questions for assessing general awareness, academic aptitude and subject proficiency. (ii) The second paper will contain 200 question of 200 marks of three hours duration for assessing subject expertise, research aptitude and subject knowledge. (d) There shall be no negative marking. 3
5. Final Merit List (a) Based on the marks obtained in the entrance test, category wise merit list shall be prepared and the category wise result of the successful candidates will be displayed on the website of the university. (b) A category wise Merit Score Certificate will be awarded and may be informed to the candidate by his/her e-mail address, if provided. This certificate will be effective for next two years from the date of issue. (c) There shall be minimum qualifying marks for the test i.e. 50 percent marks on the aggregate but minimum 40 percent marks separately in each paper work will depend on availability of Ph. D. seat, and qualifying examination does not ensure candidate for Ph. D. course work, the decision of University will be final. (d) Provided that a r elaxation of 5 percent marks (on the aggregate and in each paper as well) will be provided to the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes/ Differently-abled (Physically and visually differentlyabled). (e) Provided further that the average percentage o f marks shall not be round off to the next higher integer. (f) For candidate who are exempted from written test ( section 2.1), their merit will be prepared on the basis of marks secured in NET/GATE/GPAT etc. however if marks are not awarded, the overall academic index will be considered for the same. 4
