4. On the next page attempt to answer all the questions. 5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and press the Save and Continue button to proceed to the next group of questions. If you are not sure about some of your answers, you can press the Save for Later button instead. NB: Not every assessment has more than one page of questions. In other words, sometimes all the questions are listed on only one page. In that case, you will not have an option to save and continue but you will see a Submit for Grading button instead. As you work your way through an assessment, you will eventually see a Submit for Grading button. When you are satisfied with your answers, you can press this button. On the previous page, you might remember that this assessment allows for only one submission. And so, you will be given one last opportunity to go back and make changes to your answers. To go back, simply press the Previous button. But if you are still satisfied with your answers, then you can press the Submit for Grading button again. 6. Sakai will confirm your submission. To go back to the list of assessments, press Continue. Created: 09/07/2010 Page 17 of 22

When you see the list of available assessments, scroll down the page until you see a list of submitted assessments. Sakai can automatically mark true/false, multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank questions. For all other questions, you will have to wait for your teacher to mark them. Because of this, after you submit an assessment, you might not see a score listed next to it. How to use the Results tool Some assignments, tests/tasks and forums are linked to the Results tool. The results tool is like a report card because it will list assessable items on the left with your grade (if available) on the right. Steps in how to use the Results tool 1. To access the Results tool, click on the Results link in the menu on the left-hand side of the screen NB: As mentioned before, some assessable items cannot be marked by Sakai and must be manually marked by your teacher and you will not see a grade in the results tool until those items have been marked. Created: 09/07/2010 Page 18 of 22

How to use Forums The Forums tool allows you to contribute to an online discussion set by your facilitator. The forum may be an assessable component of your unit of competency and may include links to documents. Steps in how to access Forums 1. To access forums, click on the Forums link in the menu on the left-hand side of the screen. Once inside the Forums tool, you may see a list of forums with topics. You can read the full description that accompanies a forum by clicking on the Read Full Description link below the forum s title and you can click on the attached files below this link to view the files if you wish. The only thing you cannot do is write a response directly to a forum. 2. To make a written response to a topic, just click on the topic. Now you can read the full description for the selected topic. 3. When you are ready to write a response, select the Post New Thread option. Created: 09/07/2010 Page 19 of 22

4. Before typing a message in the green rectangle, please enter a Title. 5. If you need to attach files to your message, scroll down the page and then, press the Add Attachment button.if the file is located on your computer, press Browse. 6. In the File Upload dialog box, search your computer for the file. When you find it, click on it and then, press Open. Created: 09/07/2010 Page 20 of 22

7. If you need to attach more than one file, press the Browse button again. Otherwise press Continue to return to your message. 8. Now back in your message, scroll right down to the bottom of the page and then, press the Post Message button. 8. Now everybody can see your message. To read it, click on its title. 9. If anybody wants to reply, then click on Reply. In addition to that, you can click on the Other Actions option to edit and delete your message. NB: Depending on the topic s settings which are set by your instructor, you may not see the option to reply, edit and/or delete your message. Created: 09/07/2010 Page 21 of 22
