Student Self Serve - Student Attendance This section assumes you have already signed on. Choose the tab labeled Attendance and you should see a screen similar to the following: Attendance is taken by day and by class period. Therefore the totals are reflected by period. Campuses that block schedule may have complex periods that may require you to scroll the page side-to-side to view all periods. Each period absent will be marked with an A followed by the absent reason (ex IL and TST above). Periods marked with a T indicate you were marked Tardy. Periods with neither an A or a T are periods where no absence or tardy were noted. Only school days with at least one period containing an A or a T are listed. You may click on the button labeled View Legend to see the descriptions of the reasons listed. In this case you will note that IL represents an Illness and TST represents Testing On Campus. Note that there will be Absences from the classroom that do not represent absences from school. For example: TST = Testing On Campus, or FT = Field Trip. The summary total named Total State Reported Absences represents the number of days where you were marked absent from school during the official state designated period. Student Self Serve Report Card Grades This section assumes you have already signed on. Choose the tab labeled Report Cards and you will be presented with a screen like the following (some information is intentionally blurred): This should show your schedule with grades for each Six Weeks period including the current Six Weeks running-total average. Exams and Semester grades are shown if applicable. Gradebook functions are only available for students in grades 2 12. Grades appearing in black are posted as a final grade for reporting purposes. Grades appearing in red are not yet posted (this represents the current running-total average of existing assignments). Clicking on the button Display Comments will alter the screen to include Conduct and Comments that were recorded with the Report Card grades. If the Course Name is highlighted, you can click on it to view a greeting and general information from that teacher. For example, in the above screen the course ENG1 PAP is able to be clicked on to reveal general information by Ms. Huskey. Report Card grades are determined by the underlying assignment grades. The value NG denotes that No Grades exist for this Report Card grade yet. You may click on any grade to view the underlying assignments that were graded and averaged to produce the Report Card grade. Student Self Serve Assignments This section assumes you have already signed on and clicked on a Report Card grade from the Report Cards tab. After clicking on a Report Card grade, you will be presented with a screen like the following: The default view of assignments shows them categorized by Assignment Type. Assessment grades are listed first then Daily grades. You can also view assignments by date. Note that you can see the total Current Average at the top of the screen and you can see the averages for each Assignment Type in the sub-heading. The relative weight for each assignment type also appears in the sub-heading. The weighting can vary depending on the type of course. In this example, you can see the Grade Value earned for an assignment. To understand how an individual grade affects your overall average, you should also consider the Grade Scale value for the assignment. Additionally, teachers can Count a given assignment multiple times. For example, a quiz which will be counted twice will have a Count of 2. Teachers may make a specific note about a given grade. In the above example, Needs to attend tutorial is a note to you about the grade for TEST 1. Teachers may also upload attachments for any given assignment for the whole class. If the teacher has done this, you will see the Assignment Name highlighted and clicking on it will take you to a list of the attachments you can download or view. In the above example, the assignment named DAILY 1 is highlighted and contains attachments. Teachers can use attachments to provide instructions, worksheets, study materials etc. Note: You will have to have software on your computer compatible with the attachment type. For example, if the teacher has uploaded a Microsoft Word Document, you will have to have MS Word or a compatible program on your computer to read this document. Many teachers will post documents as PDF files. Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader is a free program downloadable from many sources on the Internet. Information Systems 7/8/2013 5
