Consultancies Done July- August 2014: Associate Consultant: Strategic Planning for Sector of Finance and Economic Planning, Kisii County Government, Kenya As Associate Consultant working with Niche Consultants. Myself and two other consultants were charged with the responsibility of coming up with the 2014-2017 strategic plan for Kisii County Government s Sector of Finance. The task involved: A stakeholder analysis: this involved interacting with key stakeholders who are locals living in the County and those in the diaspora, employees the county government, corporate partners, officials in the central government. A SWOT Analysis: This involved gathering the strengths, weaknesses opportunities and threats that relate to the performance of the Sector of Finance. PESTLE Analysis: This involved taking a Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal and Environmental assessment of the County and how it would affect the Sector of Finance. Drafting the Strategic plan: This involved writing a four year plan for the Sector of Finance that included the above analyses, proposed tasks to be undertaken and an implementation plan for the same. November 2009: Volunteer, the Kenya Red Cross, Nairobi, Kenya The Kenya Red Cross, in collaboration with the International Community of the Red Cross, is a humanitarian organization in Kenya that is self sustaining, delivering service, and preventing and alleviating human suffering to the most vulnerable in the community. They respond with vigor, compassion and empathy to those affected by disaster and at risk, in the most effective and efficient manner. Assisted in the logistical operations at the Kenya red Cross/ Red Crescent Meetings in Nairobi held from the 18 th to 25 th November 2009. My duties included facilitation of the delegates stay at the hotel; Receiving the delegates as they check into the hotel and furnishing them with information packs for their stay and during the conference. Organizing the transport service to and from the hotel to the meeting venue, (at the UNON complex in Gigiri). Being on the alert to address any emergency situation concerning the delegates safety. Facilitating communication between the French speaking delegates and the hotel staff. Providing information on concerning personal and leisure activities. Verifying various flight departures back to their various destinations. MAY 2006 TO JANUARY 2007 : Intern in the Social Forestry Division at the Kenya Forestry Research Institute, KEFRI I took part in review of literature, data collection, data cleaning, data entry and analysis, report writing and training of community members on various aspects of development. JULY TO AUGUST 2006: Researcher in the Sustainable Agriculture & Natural Resources Management I led the data collection team in a survey out to investigate the household dependency levels on the Kakamega Forest. The main tool used was the questionnaire. The entailed pre-testing of the questionnaires mapping out the areas to be covered within the time and budget allowances, and giving the team progress reports at the end of every working day.

SANREM, an organization funded by the Ford Foundation, is an international organization that collects data worldwide on the nature of interaction between mankind and forests, focusing also on the possible agricultural practices that are sustainable for forest conservation. MAY 2006- APRIL 2007: Researcher in the International Forestry Resources Institute IFRI is an organization that deals with forest data globally, also maintaining the data base of forest cover in Kenya. It works in close collaboration with KEFRI. Conducted research and compiled a report on the factors hampering the uptake of tree planting efforts by farmers, a case study of Kakamega Forest. August 2011 to Date: Research at Kenyatta University The Social Capital Nexus in Aquaculture Development: A case study of Farmers Groups in Vihiga County. 2009: Research at The University of Nairobi Researched on Farmers adoption of Tissue Culture Banana technologies in Kiambu District, Kenya; An assessment of their levels of adoption, performance, marketing and contribution to food security. This involved the review of secondary data from organizations such as the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute, Africa Harvest, and collected primary data by the use of questionnaires and interviews with key informants.
