Foreword From the desk of the Vice Chancellor The University College of Law started the B.A. L.L.B. Five Year Integrated Programme from July 2006. Considering the good infrastructure, the Bar Council of India has granted affiliation to this course. The examinations of Ist, IIIrd, Vth & VIIth Semesters have been successfully completed in time. At present IInd, IVth, VIth & VIIIth Semester are running. I congratulate the faculty, staff and students for successfully running the programme. I wish the programme all success. B.A. LL.B Five Years /LL.M.M.B.A. Three Years Integrated Programme About us The College This University College of Law is the oldest College in the state running since 1946. At the initial stage, LL.B. courses were started. Later on in the year 1970, P.G. Diploma in Labour Laws, Labour Welfare and Personnel Management (DLL) was initiated In 1971, P.G. Course-LL.M. was started. In the year The University 1979-80, PG Diploma in Company Law & Secretarial Practice was started and from 1995, P.G. Diploma in Criminology and Socio-Economic Crimes was started. Since then the College is at the developing state and the B.A.LL.B five years Integrated programme was started in July 2006. Infrastructure Library & Book Bank Library - The Library of University College of Law is a rich Library having 46356 number of Books, 6636 number of Journals. 31 numbers of Current Journals/ Periodicals and 18 numbers of newspapers and magazines are subscribed at present. Book Bank - The College is running a Book Bank for the welfare of all the students of the College having a total number of 14095 Books. A Separate Book Bank is operative for SC/ST Students with the financial Assistance of Social Welfare Department of the state. Class Room Focus emphasis is given towards building a Foundation. Classroom inputs incorporate diverse Teaching techniques such as active discussions, role-plays, Speeches, ad-lib presentations by overhead projectors & L.C.D. etc. that provide a practical orientation to what is taught. Extension Lectures & Seminars Eminent Law Scholars and dignitaries are regularly invited to deliver Extension Lectures on the current issues and issues related to the subject to update the knowledge of the subject of the students and faculty. Seminars on the current topics are organized by the College from time to time. Students are pursued to participate and present papers. For this purpose, a well equipped Seminar aided by state-of the art equipment is in College having seating capacity of 100 persons. 8

Extra Curricular Activities Hostel Hostel Facility is available for the students admitted in Law Courses for Boys and Girls separately. Moot Court The objective of organizing Court Room Exercises and conducting Moot court is to inculcate Court Culture amongst the law students. The College is conducting Court Room Exercises as an innovative teaching learning methodology from the very first semester so as to develop confidence and increase the research, drafting and argumentative capacities of the students. Sports & Cultural The University aims at developing adequate sports facilities, both indoor and outdoor so as to facilitate total education. The College takes adequate care for the indoor and outdoor sports facilities through University Sports Board. At present University provides foot-ball ground, cemented basket ball court and volley ball court along with other games. The Dean, Students Welfare for University and the Assistant Dean, Students Welfare for College organizes various cultural activities during the year. at the beginning of the academic year and shall be dissolved at the end of academic year of the University. Clinical Programme The University is keen and concerned about the development of skills in the legal education curriculum. With the advent of WTO and GATT, the whole scenario of litigation is fast changing. People at large have more conscious towards their legal rights. Keeping in mind the fast changing nature of litigation and a variety of challenges posed to the profession of law in the twenty first century, the clinical programme is schedule to cover a wide range of activities which includes Legal Aid Clinic, Consultancy, seminar and number of other programmes. Campus Recruitment Recruitment teams from leading corporate and public sector and private law agencies will be invited in the campus to select the students for direct employment just before the completion of students' final year. Students' Bar Council With the prime objective to further academic excellence and perpetuate higher standards of selfdiscipline, harmony and tolerance among students fraternity of the College, there shall be a Student Bar Council and every registered full time student of the course shall be its member which shall be prorogued 9

LL.M.M.B.A. THREE YEARS INTEGRATED PROGRAMME The programme : LL.M. M.B.A. Three Years integrated Course is a Three years Full time programme. The Course Structure and programme administration are as follows : Course Structure: The programme is organized in Three Years First Year, Second Year and Final Year. Each Years Comprising of Two Semesters. Seats : Total Number of Seats 30 a. Open Seats 25 b. Payment Seats 05 Seats remaining vacant for one category may be filled by another category, if needed. Fees: a. Open Seats Rs. 36,000/- (Per Year) + Local Fund b. Payment Seats Rs. 50,000/- (Per Year) + Local Fund Eligibility : - A candidate seeking admission to this Programme shall have passed LL.B. Examination with at least 50% of the marks from a recognized University. SC/ST/OBC candidate who have secured 48% of marks is elgible. - Candidates who have appeared for the Final Year of LL.B. Examination may also apply, provided they submit their mark sheet before finalization of the admission. Reservation : As per rules of the University. Term Paper Presentation and field visit report : At the end of First, Second & Fourth Semester, the students have to prepare term report to be submitted within one week from the commencement of next semester and at the end of third & fifth semester the student have to go training for three weeks with a Law/Industrial/Business or Service Organization. Each student has to submit their training and field visit report within one week from the commencement of next Semester. Dissertation : The students have to submit the dissertation at the end of Six Semester. Dissertation will be on the topic to be assigned by the concerned faculty. Programme Administration (Suggested Guidelines) Evaluation l Each paper will carry 100 marks of which minimum of 30% marks should be for internal assessment and remaining percentage of marks be for written examination. The duration of written examination for each paper shall be three hours. l The internal assessment marks shall be based on factors such as : Participation in seminars, case discussions and group work activities. Class tests, quizzes, individual and group oral presentations. Submission of written assignments, term papers and viva-voce. Class-room participation and attendance l There will be one mid term class test which will carry 20 marks. If any candidate does not appear in any of the mid term tests on valid grounds, he may appear in the defaulter test by depositing a fee of Rs. 150/- per course. l The course for the mid term test will be first two units but the defaulter test coverage will be the entire course. l Home Assignment will carry 05 marks while individual and group presentation and attendance will carry 05 marks. l The scheme of evaluation of project studies shall be as follows: l A project report based on the summer training will have to be submitted within two weeks from the commencement of fifth semester. l The written part for each of project studies shall account for 70% of marks and the viva voce to be conducted by a duly constituted examination board for the remaining 30% of marks. l Promotion and Re-examination As per Existing rules of the University for Semester Scheme and M.B.A. l Attendance No candidate shall be considered to have pursued a regular course of study unless he/she is certified by the Dean of the Faculty to have attended the 75% of the total number of classroom sessions conducted in each semester during his/her course of study. Any student not complying with this requirement will not be allowed to appear in the semester examination. A Student not allowed to appear in the preceding semester examination due to shortage of attendance, may appear in the papers of the proceeding semester along with the papers of current semester after making up the attendance shortfall. Remedial classes, however, will not be arranged by the Faculty for the purpose.
