It is not intended as a legally binding translation of the official Italian document. The official Italian document will be referred to for any legal matters. ***

Field of application 1. The provisions of these Regulations shall apply: a) to students registered to I and II level degree programmes; b) to students registered to Specialization Schools, compatibly with the special provisions for such schools; c) to students registered to PhD programmes compatibly with the special provisions for such courses; d) to students registered to I and II level specializing master programmes; e) to students registered to individual courses (even students from foreign universities, with or without an exchange programme); f) to students registered to other curriculums independently activated by Politecnico, either for lifelong learning and professional development, provided they do not go against provisions contained in the constituent acts of the courses themselves. 2. The status of student is obtained by enrolment / registration to the courses referred to in point 1. 3. The provisions of these Regulations shall apply to students referred to in sub paragraphs a), e), f) of paragraph 1. Where compatible, they also apply to students referred to in sub paragraphs b), c), d), for which we refer to existing rules in the specific Regulations and, where applicable, in the Calls that regulate admissions. Enrolment in degree programmes 1. To enrol in University programmes one must hold a suitable qualification and meet the requirements for admission governed by the University General Academic Regulations, by the Degree Programme Regulations, by law, and, where applicable, by the specific Calls that on a yearly basis regulate the terms and procedures of possible admission tests. 2. Simultaneous enrolment to more than one programme leading to an academic qualification is not allowed, even in other Universities, with the exception of cases provided for by agreements with other Italian or foreign Universities. 3. The enrolment made through the online procedure is acquired as provisional; it must be completed at the Registrar's Office with the presentation of the original Identification Document (ID) and any documents expressly required in the Call for Admission or in the rules published on the University website. 4. Students with foreign academic qualifications registered without presentation of the documentation required in the specific Call shall be enrolled provisionally. If the documents are not produced within the indicated deadline, the enrolment shall be cancelled with immediate cancellation effect on any career act occurred in the interim. Accreditation of credits in the case of other academic qualification or partial academic studies 1. Without prejudice to the provisions of Section 2 of these Regulations, if you already hold either an academic degree or have partially completed academic studies, you can request an evaluation of your past career to enrol at Politecnico di Torino. The candidate in the aforementioned conditions may be enrolled in a I and II level degree programme with career credit recognition, pending a resolution by the Collegio that will assess the completed studies to identify which part of the career can be accredited and which part needs to be continued. 2. In any case, as a rule, students coming from other Universities to Politecnico di Torino will have to achieve at least 60 credits including the final test to obtain the I level degree and 50 credits plus the thesis to obtain the II level degree. Under the same conditions, students who have withdrawn or forfeited from studies may also apply for accreditation of passed exams from previous careers. Recognition of vocational training activities and professional skills 1. Professional knowledge and skills certified in accordance with current legislation, as well as other knowledge and skills gained through post-secondary level educational activities, designed and implemented with Politecnico di Torino's contribution, may be acknowledged as university credits in the careers of students registered in 1st and 2nd level courses, as per provisions of current legislation. 2

2. The activities already acknowledged for the attribution of university academic credits relative to degree programmes cannot be re-acknowledged as credits for II level degree programme. 3. The Programme Regulations, in accordance with the guidelines established by the University's bodies, determine the criteria for the acknowledgement of academic credits. Registration to individual courses 1. It is possible to submit requests for registration to individual courses taught at Politecnico di Torino, with no obligation to register to the degree programme that provides an academic title, and subject to meeting the requirements set by the current regulations. 2. The faculties may deny registration to single courses because of lacking basic preparatory knowledge or because the desired course has already reached its maximum number of seats. 3. Registration for individual courses offered by Politecnico di Torino is expected in the following cases: a) for reasons linked to public competitions, refreshers or professional re-qualification; b) for recovery of negative university academic credits aimed at enrolment to a II level degree programme. 4. A simultaneous registration to individual courses and to a degree programme with a final academic qualification, including programmes in Politecnico, is not allowed. 5. The number of credits allowed for registration to individual courses is defined by specific resolutions of the University bodies. 6. The passing of single course exams may be acknowledged to students who subsequently register to a degree programme at Politecnico. 7. Registration to individual courses is valid for only one academic year. Types of registration 1. At Politecnico di Torino full-time students and part-time students register to I and II level degree programmes; these two types of students have different rights and obligations. The diversification between the types of registration is linked, as a main parameter, to the number of credits that can be acquired in an academic year by one and the other. 2. The Annual Personal Study Programme (APSP) for full-time students can be expected to add up to a maximum of 80 credits. These 80 credits must include the compulsory courses on the previous years' PSP the exams of which were not passed. 3. The Annual Personal Study Programme (APSP) for part-time students can be expect to add up to a maximum of 40 credits per year. In case of enrolment (first time registration) it is compulsory to choose a PSP of at least 20 credits. 4. The two student types are subject to different treatments concerning the tuition fee amounts and the economic benefits provided by Politecnico di Torino and concerning those provided for by current legislation on the Right to Education. 5. The student independently indicates the choice of full-time or part-time commitment when completing the annual Annual Personal Study Programme (APSP). Registration after the first academic year (1st and 2nd level degree programmes) 1. Politecnico students register to the new academic year the moment they update their career plan, define their annual Annual Personal Study Programme in accordance with the limitations and terms provided for in the Degree Programme Regulations, with the University Fee Regulations, with the Academic Calendar and, last but not least, with the provisions published on a yearly basis on the Educational Portal. 2. Students who do not complete the Annual Personal Study Programme and do not pay the university fees cannot officially perform any career act; this includes sitting for examinations. 3

degree programmes) Personal Study Programme and Annual Personal Study Programme (I and II level 1. The Personal Study Programme contains all the teachings and educational activities provided for the individual students with reference to the curriculum of the degree programme to which they are registered (compulsory and elective courses, which students must choose in the course of their career) while the Annual Personal Study Programme contains the teachings provided for in the specific academic year of registration. 2. The Personal Study Programme and the Annual Personal Study Programme of the first year of a degree programme are assigned automatically upon enrolment. 3. In all other cases, the Personal Study Programme and the Annual Personal Study Programme are updated at the beginning of the year according to the schedule provided for by the academic calendar, with the exception of students enrolled in II level degree programmes who decide after enrolment. 4. Towards the end of their career, both in I level and II level degree programmes, students are allowed to include 5 additional credits beyond the maximum limit, provided the Annual Personal Study Programme already includes the credits relating to the final examination or thesis. 5. As a rule, students may place a number of additional credits on their Personal Study Programme: up to a maximum of 10 credits beyond the 180 provided for in the I level degree programmes and the 120 provided for in the II level degree programmes. 6. Students who have not obtained at the end of the first semester of the first year the required credits, as per provisions in the Degree Programme Regulation, are required to take part in educational recovery activities specifically organized in the second semester. 7. Students who, at the end of the first year, have not obtained a certain number of credits among the core subjects determined by the Degree Programme Regulations will not be able to update the Annual Personal Study Programme with new courses. 8. Students registered in I level degree programmes who, during the 1st semester of the 2nd year, exceed the threshold of the required credits, will place new courses in the Annual Personal Study Programme for the 2nd semester of the 2nd year, in observance of the pre-requisite. Academic calendar 1. Education activities are divided into two semesters. The complete information on the organization of the courses and all teaching activities are available on the academic calendar published each year in the Education Portal. 2. Students should read the official timetable of the courses published in the Education Portal, where notice of any changes will be promptly given. Examination rules 1. An examination (or exam) is a procedure to verify the acquisition of the individual skills provided for by courses learning outcomes. 2. Generally I and II level degree programme students will be able to sit for an examination of a course in their yearly Annual Personal Study Programme, only after the course has finished, so second semester courses will have exams starting from the July session. An exam may be taken up to the last academic year of the course's activation: so, if a course is deactivated, exams may be taken until the last exam session of the previous year (September). Normally, after this period, a course that has not been passed will be replaced in the Annual Personal Study Programme with an active course indicated by the degree programme's "Collegio". 3. For I and II level degree programmes exams are organised in three annual sessions (Winter, Summer and Autumn). The Winter and Summer sessions are respectively at the end of the 1st and 2nd semester. These sessions provide two possible exam dates for courses that have just ended and another exam date for courses of another semester. In the exam sessions where there are two possible dates, it is possible to take a repeat of a failed exam. The autumn session provides only one exam date for all the year's courses. Exam sessions and exam dates are published annually on the Education portal, usually at the beginning of the year, and in any case with adequate notice. Once exam dates are fixed, they cannot be anticipated. Possible requests for exceptions, for serious and justified reasons, need to be authorised by the Vice Rector for 4

Education. Registration to exam dates is compulsory and it should be done through one's personal student page on the Education Portal. 4. Exams must be taken exclusively with the Board of Examiners, appointed by the related faculty for the current academic year, and presided, as a rule, by the instructor in charge of the course. 5. Unless stated otherwise, during exams it is forbidden to use electronic equipment that might allow communications with subjects or external sources to acquire information that might be used in the exam. Exams must be carried out individually and must be the result of one's own abilities. Anyone found copying may be referred to the Disciplinary Board. Where there's a need to use documents or texts, the rules on copyright must be followed and all the sources must always be quoted. Final examination rules 1. The I level final degree examination need not be particularly original, but it must represent an opportunity to complete one's training, or it can be a specific study of a course topic. For I level degree programmes, the final examination consists of a written paper and it does not require a public dissertation. 2. The II level final degree examination consists in the public dissertation of a thesis elaborated by the student under the guidance of a supervisor, who can be either an internal or external professor holding a course at Politecnico di Torino. 3. The Degree Programme Regulations establish the procedures and characteristics of the final examination and of the thesis, in accordance with the guidelines established by the University bodies and current legislation. 4. To undergo final doctoral and postgraduate exams students must have fulfilled all requirements provided for in the specific rules regulating the academic career programmes. 5. The final examination and the thesis must be carried out individually; if there is a need to use documents or texts, the rules on copyright must be followed and all the sources must always be quoted. Forfeiture 1. Students registered to a degree programme incur into automatic forfeiture in the following cases: a) students who, within two years, fail to pass the first year's compulsory exams, that are required for access to the second year courses, are considered to have forfeited and cannot continue their studies in the same academic career path; b) students who fail all exams for three consecutive years, or who do not conclude all the necessary exams (excluding the final examination) in 6 years, are considered as having forfeited and cannot continue their studies in the same academic career. 2. Students registered to a II level degree programme that do not sit for an exam for two consecutive years, or who do not finish all the required exams (excluding the thesis) in 4 years are considered as having forfeited and cannot continue their studies in the same academic career. 3. The years of part-time registration count as 0.5 / year. 4. An instance to the Rector for deferment of the terms of forfeiture is permitted in the event of serious and certifiable reasons. 5. In the case of point 1a) if students intend to resume their studies in an active degree programme it is compulsory for them to repeat and pass the admissions test. For cases referred to in paragraph 1 b) and 2, forfeited students can later enrol to the same degree course (if active) without having to retake the test/examination admission process (if any). 6. There may be the accreditation, for a new academic career, of any credits acquired in the forfeited degree programme. 5

Interruption of 1st and 2nd level studies 1. Career interruption is when students do not register to the academic year by indicating their Annual Personal Study Programme or when, even if they do proceed with the registration, they do not proceed with any career act (i.e. no exams or similar). 2. To resume an interrupted career, in addition to the regular tuition and fees for the year in progress, students pay an assessment fee for the years in which they were not enrolled, as published annually in the University Fee Regulations. 3. The years of career interruption do not stop the computation of years for forfeiture. Withdrawal from studies 1. Students who do not intend to continue their university studies can formally renounce their continuation, by expressing their will in clear and explicit terms, without conditions, terms or clauses restricting its effectiveness. All issued certificates, relative to the previously and regularly accomplished academic career will be sided by a declaration indicating withdrawal from studies. Withdrawal is irrevocable and unconditional, it voids the academic career achieved so far and produces the loss of the status as student; it does not exclude the possibility of a new enrolment, even in the same degree programme, provided the programme is active and in compliance with the rules of admission. Students who enrol to II level degree programmes and withdraw in the first semester cannot access the same or another II level degree programme in the II semester, except for serious and justified reasons. Students who decide to withdraw from studies must pay all fees and costs due to Politecnico to be able to formally withdraw. Please refer to the provisions of the University Fee Regulations for anything related to the tuition fees. Suspension of studies 1. Suspension is a voluntary and temporary interruption of a student's career. It may be granted to a regularly registered student in the following cases: a) registration to a degree programme at a foreign university, limited to the normal duration of the studies and for a period not inferior to one academic year b) registration to a specialisation programme, PhD programme or specializing master programme, limited to the normal duration of the studies and for a period not inferior to one academic year; c) registration to a degree programme at a Military Academy; d) national or civil service, for the academic year in which the service is provided; e) maternity / paternity leave (during the 1 st year of birth of the first and of the second child); f) in case of a student or family member's prolonged hospitalization or serious illness. 2. Suspension must be requested in the academic year preceding the year for which you are requesting it. Consequently registration to the academic year for which suspension has been requested should not be made. Only in the cases mentioned in point 1e) and 1 f) you can request suspension despite having registered. 3. Suspension can be requested only once in the course of an academic career in the cases referred to in point 1 a), b), c), d), while there are no limitations for the cases referred to in point 1 e) and 1 f). 4. The enrolled student (therefore registered to this University for the first time) may be granted a suspension only for the cases referred to in point 1 e) and 1 f). 5. During the suspension period, students cannot not advance in their career with any official acts (sit for exams, prepare a final paper/thesis, etc.). Students may request the issue of career certificates from the Registrar's Office: these will bear the period but not the reason for the interruption. 6. The procedures to request a suspension and the subsequent resumption of studies are published on the Education Portal. 7. Any year of suspension is disregarded when calculating the terms for forfeiture. 6

Entry and exit transfers and internal transfers 1. Exit refers to when a student registered Politecnico di Torino intends to transfer and continue I or II level studies at another University or Institute of Higher Education. It is the student's responsibility to enquire in advance at the destination University about the terms, procedures and dates of the transfer process. Exit applications must be prepared in accordance with procedures defined by the University. If the destination degree programme has a limited number of seats, clearance from the hosting University is required; this may be requested from the Registrar's Office of the receiving University. If students return to Politecnico without having registered any career act they may be reinstated in their previous academic career, except in cases where forfeiture incurs in the academic year of return. Students may not return to Politecnico on the same academic year except in the case of justifiable and serious reasons. After a transfer, students are not permitted to carry out any academic activities and cannot benefit from any educational or administrative services. Moreover, starting from the transfer application submission date, students are no longer allowed to take any final exam. 2. Internal transfer refers to a change in degree programme by students who wish to pursue their studies in a different one, within the University. A request to internally transfer to another degree programme may be submitted by students who have matured the number of credits provided for in the Degree Programme Regulations of that specific degree programme, in order to access the courses held in the programme's second year. For restricted access degree programmes, it is necessary to abide by the admission criteria, annually published on the Education Portal, that indicate for which cases an admission test is required. For II level degree programmes the internal transfers are permitted after prior evaluation of the curricular qualifications, of the personal preparation and of the language requirements provided for in the Degree Programme Regulations of the specific degree programme. Every year the procedures and the deadlines for transfers from one degree programme to another, both within Politecnico, and to or from other Universities are published on the Education Portal. Students who want to transfer to another degree programme in Politecnico will be registered once a resolution of the programme's Collegio shall identify which part of their career is validated and which needs to be completed. 3. Students who intend to apply for a transfer from another Italian university to Politecnico di Torino must submit an application after reading the annual provisions that Politecnico publishes on the Education Portal; these shall specify the possible need to sit for an admission test or, in the case of MSc programmes, to evaluate the curricular qualifications, the personal preparation and the language requirements provided for in the Degree Programme Regulations of the degree programme, and the procedures and deadlines to start the transfer. In any case, as a rule, in Politecnico di Torino, students from other universities generally have to acquire respectively at least 60 credits including the final test to obtain the first-level degree and 50 credits plus the thesis to obtain the second level degree. Once it has received the exit papers, Politecnico's Registrar s Office transmits the documentation to the related degree programme's Collegio that shall identify which part of the career is validated and which needs to be completed. Fees and contributions 1. The Board of Governors annually determines the fees and contributions due for registration to the different degree programmes and for the different types of registration, as well as any possible reductions on the basis of financial background and academic merit. Sums, schedules and forms of payment are published in the appropriate University Fee Regulations. 2. The Regulations also determine the treatment of students in exchange programmes, if these are not regulated by the agreement between Universities, as well as the treatment of the students who withdraw from studies, of those who register from other Universities, as well as the sanctions for administrative acts which may be extended beyond the official deadlines. 3. Students who are not up to date with the payment of fees and contributions cannot perform any 7

career act (registration, examinations, withdrawal, etc.), cannot transfer to other institutions, or obtain certifications; these students may only be issued certificates relating to the academic year for which they have paid fees and contributions in full. Disciplinary acts 1. Students, registered to one of the degree programmes held by Politecnico are required to comply with the law, the statutes and regulations, and the civil rules of coexistence and must refrain from damaging any proprietary or third party assets, even if temporarily present, in University. Students are required to maintain a behaviour that is respectful of the personal integrity and dignity of others, as well as of the decorum of the premises where teaching and research are held. Students are also required to refrain from any conduct that may be detrimental to the image and respectability of the University as an Institution, even outside University premises, should these facts or actions be recognized as related to students and therefore damage the University's respectability and honour. 2. Students found guilty of misconduct may be subject to the following disciplinary sanctions: a) official warning; b) suspension from one or more exams for a specific period of time; c) temporary exclusion from the use of services such as libraries, laboratories, WI-FI, etc., for a specified period of time; d) temporary or definitive exclusion from entitlement to economic benefits provided by Politecnico and/or assignment of part-time collaborations; e) temporary exclusion from Politecnico with restriction of any career act, including transfer to another campus or another degree programme, up to a maximum of three years. 3. The sanctions imposed are without prejudice to the right and duty of Politecnico to revert to public judicial authorities in the case of civil or criminal offences. 4. The disciplinary jurisdiction over the students is held by the Rector and the Academic Senate. 5. By proposal of the Rector, the Academic Senate appoints a designated Disciplinary Board, that will examine the facts claimed in a written report that it will receive. The Academic Senate shall appoint a student among those registered to a I and II level degree programme and one that is registered to a Ph.D. programme; they will take part as an addition to the commission based on summoned student's level of studies (for students belonging to specializing master programmes and to Graduate School the commission shall be completed by the Ph.D. student). 6. The commission summons the student, to hear his/her defence, before inflicting a sanction. 7. If need be, the sanction inflicted by the commission shall be notified to the student in writing. The student may appeal to the Rector, within ten working days from the date of notification; the Rector's decision is final. 8. In the case of a transfer to another university, the inflicted disciplinary sanctions will be registered in the student's academic career. Information and participation in administrative proceedings 1. Under Section 11 of the Ministerial Decree no. 270/2004 the University ensures forms and means of advertisement of the proceedings and decisions taken regarding students' careers, organizes the information and the data in its possession with all means, including IT, that are suitable for access and use by students and that ensure the transparency of the proceedings, without prejudice to personal data protection, in accordance with current legislation. 2. The University promotes student participation in the proceedings concerning their careers and it ensures the exercise of their right of access in the manners and forms prescribed by law. 3. The University, primarily using IT tools, informs and communicates with students to promote the knowledge of this Regulation and any other rules relating to students careers, and to promote the knowledge of how administrative proceedings start and follow through. 4. Students are advised to take note of all the regulations and information published every year on the Education Portal and on the students' personal page, as well as online message boards in the Division of Educational Affairs. 5. Students are required to maintain updated addresses of residence, domicile and telephone numbers with the appropriate online procedure found on their personal page of the Education Portal. 8

6. Communication between the University and students takes place primarily through the institutional mailbox assigned during enrolment: smatricola@studenti.polito.it. Specific notices may also be sent via SMS to the mobile number. 7. Politecnico issues a magnetic card to enrolled students, with photographic ID for recognition within the University. Privacy - Information on data protection 1. Students' data is treated in accordance with the provisions of the "Code regarding the protection of personal data" (Legislative Decree no. 196 dated 30/6/2003, and subsequent amendments) and in accordance with the provisions of the "Law on transparency". 2. Owner of the database is Politecnico di Torino, represented by the Rector, with legal seat in Corso Duca degli Abruzzi, 24-10129 Torino. The person in charge of the student data is the manager of the Division of Educational Affairs. General, final and provisional rules 1. On instances concerning the academic career of students, appeals may be made to the Rector, who in response may avail himself of a purposely appointed Commission. 2. Where this Regulation sets out rules that should be applied "as a rule", it is understood that such rules may be waived only by University bodies or by the Rector who may avail himself of the Commission referred to in preceding paragraph 1. 3. With the entry into force of this Regulation, the applicability to Politecnico of any conflicting or inconsistent norm shall cease; in particular the Student Regulations, approved by the Academic Senate in its meeting dated 17th May 1999, and amended in its meeting on 15th May 2001, shall cease to have any effect. 4. The rules on forfeiture in Section 12 apply to students enrolled from the 2016/17 academic year. 5. For students enrolled before the 2016/17 academic year, the rules on forfeiture in Section 12 apply with the year count starting from the 2016/17 academic year rather than the date of enrolment. 6. For students enrolled before the 2016/17 academic year, paragraph 2 of Section 21 of the University General Academic regulations shall also remain applicable: "If students registered to a 1st level (BSc) or 2nd Level (MSc) degree programme do not acquire credits for more than four years, their career will be reactivated after an assessment of the non-obsolescence of accrued credits by the competent Department or School." 9
