THE CONCORD (N.C.) TRIBUNE, FRIDAY, MAY 6, 1977-5 Kerr Street Baptist minister announced Fiis resignation The Rev. J. Marion Rector, pastor of Kerr Street Baptist Church for the past six and one-half years, announced his resignation here Sunday and has accepted a call to become pastor of Crestwood Baptist Church, Winston-Salem. His resignation becomes effective the week following June 12. One of Concord's most outstanding Baptist ministers, the Rev. Mr. Rector has served numerous associational assignments, president of the Cabarrus Baptist Ministers Conference and secretary of the Concord Ministers Association, and numerous other ecumenical and civic responsibilities. During his pastorate he has also served as chairman of the Concord Bible Teaching Program, chairman of the Board of Directors of Cabarrus County Groups Homes Inc. (a facility of retarded adults), member of the Meals on Wheels Board and president of the Coltrane-Webb Parent Teachers Association. Mrs. Rector, the former Miss Doris May of Greens- Sunday boro, has served at kindergartens both in the church and at Coltrane-Webb School, church organist and officer in the Parent Teachers Association. The Rectors have five children, Debbie, a rising senior at UNC-Greensboro; Phil, Donna, Mark and Kent. Crestwood Baptist Church, to which the Rectors will move in June, is a Winston Salem suburban church, moved from the inner city some 20 years ago, the Rev. Mr. Rector said. "It is not easy to leave Concord,becauseithasbeen a warm and friendly home to us over the years," the minister said, "but we are looking forward to the challenge ahead."
