At LC, you get to be you. There s zero pressure to hide your LD, no need to ask for special accommodations. It s a liberating and empowering environment that allows you to focus fully on yourself and your learning goals. WHERE YOU CAN BE yourself A classic New England college setting and much more. 3

Advising is different, too. LC s advisors play a central role in your college experience. Partnering with you from day one, your advisor will become your closest ally, helping you to succeed both in and out of the classroom. A COLLEGE THAT DARES TO BE DIFFERENT At Landmark College, we teach differently! LC was founded more than 30 years ago as the first college in the country to exclusively serve students who learn differently. Today, we continue to earn acclaim for our innovative educational model, the skill and commitment of our professors, and the impressive accomplishments of our students. Here, you will discover your own best way to learn, becoming more focused and self-confident as you achieve greater academic success. Your learning will be assisted through the latest technology such as text-to-speech programs, digital textbooks, and powerful software as well as LC s added support services in writing, reading, and study skills.

LC LEADS IN WAYS THAT Matter Our new Nicole Goodner MacFarlane Science, Technology & Innovation Center (pictured) is the first building in the country designed specifically for teaching science and mathematics to students who learn differently. It is also home to the Landmark College Institute for Research and Training (LCIRT), which pioneers LD research and looks for new ways to improve teaching and learning. Our students often partner with LCIRT on its research to gain new insights on how we learn. LC s Morgan Le Fay Center for Advances in Economics, Business, and Entrepreneurship Education leverages the entrepreneurial spirit of our students.

OUR STUDY abroad PROGRAM Through LC s own guided programs, our students and faculty have explored the people, cultures, and politics of such countries as Australia, Botswana, Costa Rica, Japan, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Measurable Alumni Success According to the National Student Clearinghouse, LC students who complete their associate degree are more likely to earn their bachelor s degree than the national average, and do so at a significantly higher rate than other college students who learn differently. 11

PUT YOUR LEARNING to work At LC, professional internships open new doors of learning. You can gain hands-on experience, determine if your major is truly your passion, and make invaluable career connections through our Office of Transfer, Career & Internship Services. Just ask Omoefe Ogbeide, a B.A. in Liberal Arts major at LC, who completed a Washington, D.C., internship at the Office of Policy and Program Development, which oversees regulations and inspections for meat and poultry products for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Omoefe is interested in law, but struggles with reading and working memory. Her internship convinced her that a career in law is achievable.

READ OMOEFE S story landmark.edu/internships At LC, techniques like active reading have enabled me to comprehend and stay engaged with my reading. That was critical to success in my internship, which demanded a lot of reading and writing. But I always saw my struggles with reading and writing as a detriment, so I excluded myself from doing certain things, like going to law school. Within weeks of starting my internship, though, I went to an event with Washington s top 15 law schools and I realized I really could do it! OMOEFE OGBEIDE 16 Alameda, Calif. The USDA was Omoefe s second internship experience. She also was a full-time intern at Fulflex Elastomerics Worldwide, a Moore Company, in Brattleboro, Vt. 13

GET READY TO Engage Outside the classroom, what is life really like at LC? We are a residential community where nearly 98 percent of our students live on campus. That means an active campus life, with dozens of ways for you to express yourself, play on a team, develop your leadership skills, and make a difference as a volunteer. Most of all, you ll forge friendships that will last a lifetime. If you love the thrill of applause, take to the stage in an LC theater production. Campus speakers include renowned guests like Dr. Temple Grandin. The campus library is a favorite place to meet and relax between classes, connect with a study group, or research a paper. Whether you re a player or a fan, you ll be proud to be a Shark led by LC s official mascot, Finn the Shark. Let it snow! Vermont is paradise for skiers and snowboarders. You can practice on campus then head for nearby slopes, which offer special deals for LC students. The outdoors become your classroom, like this photography class in New Hampshire s White Mountains. If you re not up for skiing, give snowshoeing at try! You don t have to look far to find something to do at LC! Our campus adventure course is a metaphor for what happens every day at LC: we reach for the sky. 15 The Click Recreation Center s climbing wall is an LC must do.

Intercollegiate Athletics Baseball Basketball Cross Country Soccer Softball Intramural Sports Dodgeball Equestrian Sports Flag Football Frisbee Golf Sledding And more! LC PREPARES YOU TO play hard On campus, the Click Family Sports Center features a basketball court, lines for volleyball and tennis, a climbing wall, and a resistance pool. There are also several fitness and weight room areas, and an adventure course on campus. Coming in Fall 2016: a new all-weather athletic field. And just minutes from campus are some of the country s best natural resources for camping, hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, rock climbing, horseback riding, skiing, and snowboarding.

17

THINGS TO DO PLACES TO go Vermont is known for its one-of-a-kind towns. LC s neighbors Putney and Brattleboro are no exception. There, you will find good eats, interesting bookstores and shops, and creative artisans at work. (You are welcome to bring a car to campus, but LC s shuttle makes getting around town easy.) When you re ready for more big city sights and sounds, our location offers quick access to the sports, culture, history, and nightlife of Boston and New York City. And don t overlook New England s beaches, where whale watching and even quality surfing make for a memorable getaway.

19

DECIDING IF LC IS RIGHT for you Only you can decide if the programs and services offered at LC are right for you. But our record of success speaks for itself: our alumni are successful artists, entrepreneurs, researchers, teachers, social workers, lawyers, and more. You ll find our alumni pursuing undergraduate and graduate studies at some of our country s most respected colleges and universities, including Columbia, Northeastern, Harvard, Syracuse, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, and right here at Landmark.
