Ideal location The University extends across five campuses, with the main North Terrace Campus located in the heart of Adelaide. The University of Adelaide s English Language Centre is situated in the central business and cultural district, an area surrounded by parklands and gardens and bordered by the River Torrens.

General English for Academic Purposes (GEAP) The General English for Academic Purposes (GEAP) program is for students who wish to develop their language skills at one of the most prestigious universities in Australia. Anyone can study the GEAP, even if you only have basic English skills. To ensure you are enrolled in the appropriate level, you will sit a short placement test before your first class. The test involves reading, writing and listening and assesses vocabulary, grammar, written expression and the understanding of meaning in a conversation. You can study the GEAP as a stand-alone program for personal or professional advancement or to gain credit towards a degree in your home University. GEAP can also be used as a pathway to the University of Adelaide if you have not met the minimum English requirements for the Pre-Enrolment English program (PEP). GEAP - 2018 intake dates Tuesday, 2 January Monday, 16 July Monday, 12 February Monday, 20 August Monday, 19 March Tuesday, 2 October Monday, 30 April Monday, 12 November Monday, 4 June GEAP fast facts Duration: 20 contact hours per week. You can choose the length of your program - from 5 to 45 weeks (enrolment is in 5 week blocks). Start dates: every 5 weeks throughout the year. Entry criteria: There are no specific entry requirements for the GEAP program. Suitable for all levels. Levels: 5 levels from elementary to advanced. Class times: 9.00am - 1.00pm, Monday - Friday or 1.00pm - 5.00pm, Monday - Friday Each student will have a combination of morning and afternoon classes each week. Pre-enrolment English Program (PEP) The Pre-enrolment English Program (PEP) is a direct entry pathway for students that have not met the minimum English language entry requirements of their University of Adelaide undergraduate or postgraduate program. The length of your program depends on your English proficiency test score. If you successfully complete the PEP, you do not need to sit another English test before you enter your university program. The Pre-enrolment English Program (PEP) is for 10, 15 or 20 weeks. The program you are eligible for depends on your English proficiency test score and the English language requirement for the program you wish to study. Please refer to the table below or visit our website for more information. For English language entry requirements visit www.international.adelaide.edu.au/apply/ admission GEAP + If you do not meet the English proficiency test scores required for entry into the PEP, you may be eligible for a packaged program involving a mixture of General English for Academic Purposes (GEAP) and Preenrolment English Program (PEP) classes. A further English language test (IELTS, TOEFL, CAE or Pearson) is required during the course; either to allow transfer to PEP classes or to gain direct entry to your award program. GEAP + courses are for 30 or 35 weeks. The length of program depends on your English proficiency test score and the English language requirement for the program you wish to study.
