It will provide schools with digital products. These will include: a sample list of formalwear suppliers sample tickets that could be used for a prom a sample digital poster to be used in the school to advertise the prom. The company will use a model that will allow a school to see how the choices it makes in the organisation of a prom impact on the ticket price that students will pay. The company will need a page for its website to show schools the services that it provides. Get Organised Folders Create a folder called Prom with these sub-folders: Activity 1 Activity 2 Activity 3 Activity 4 Sources Sources tables You must keep careful records of all the sources you use. Create sources tables (you can find the template on the Weebly) Save your sources tables in your Sources folder. Test buddy You must have a test buddy who will give you useful feedback on your work. You should complete it as you work through Activity 2. (you can find the template on the Weebly) 7

Activity 2 Prom Model You need to create a spreadsheet model that the company can use to help organise a prom for a school. The model should accept: text such as the types of catering package currency amounts such as the income from ticket sales numeric data such as the number of people attending. The model should calculate: the overall income and expenditure a suggested ticket price needed to cover the choices that are made. The overall aim is to provide a prom that best meets the needs of students for a price they can afford. Your model must allow you to ask what-if questions such as: If the ticket price became too high, what could be left out to reduce costs? If the number of students attending increases, how will this affect staffing? Look at the Model Design sheet on the Weebly. You can use it to help you develop your own model, or you may prefer to create your own. 8

Activity 2 Developing the Model There are Model Ideas on the Weebly to enhance the model and make it more useful and realistic. These ideas would extend the 'what-if' questions you could ask. What would be the impact on the ticket price of choosing different activities/entertainment? Is it better to pay a fixed fee to the company, or one that varies depending on the number of students attending? What would be the impact of fundraising before the event? Make sure that you record your sources in your sources tables. Develop your model. It must be formatted so that it is easy to use and understand. In the early stages of development, ask for feedback from your teacher and test buddy. Make changes if necessary. Test your model thoroughly. Make sure that it provides meaningful and reliable information. Save your final model in your Activity 2 folder. Answer the questions about the spreadsheet model in your Activity 2 review. 9

Activity 2 Demo You need to demonstrate how a school might use your model. To do this you must create a demonstration of how your model could be used to cost a prom for a school at a ticket price of 50. Then show the changes to the choices of option that you would make to reduce the ticket price to 20. The demo must run without user interaction, last between two and five minutes, and include: your company logo information from your model an embedded audio commentary to support the demo an overview of the two prom options (ticket prices of 50 and 20).
