Do not use your usual method of login for ESR!
Accessing Elearning from within ESR 1. To access elearning, log onto your ESR Self Service https://esr.mhapp.nhs.uk 2. Once logged in and depending on your job role, your screen will look something like this: On the left you should be able 001 Employee Self Service (Fig 1) As seen in the image (Fig 1) above, the elearning section will provide you with options to: Learning: to access courses and certificates Request Internet Access: use to request elearning access from outside of the network. The request, has to be sent when logged in at work and not from home Notifications: will display all the notifications generated for you by ESR. These could be annual leave approvals, course bookings, course cancellations, etc. External Learning: any courses attended externally to the organisation Compliance & Competency: here you can check your Mandatory & Statutory compliance, see what courses need to be done or redone long with their dates and levels Personalise: use this option to personalise your elearning page ESR access for elearning October 2016 Page 2 of 12
3. Select on Learning and the following screen will appear (Fig 2) 4 To access the courses you need to change the course to Learning Certification and enter 001 in the search bar, and then press Go. ESR access for elearning October 2016 Page 3 of 12
Statutory Training All NHS staff are required to achieve the 13 CSTF (Core Skills Training Framework) Learning Certification modules which can be completed via elearning. The subjects are: Fire Safety Health, safety & Welfare Infection Prevention & Control Information Governance Moving & Handling Resuscitation Safeguarding Adults Safeguarding children Equality, Diversity & Human rights Violence & Aggression. Violence against women, Domestic abuse and violence. Dementia Awareness Mental Capacity Act Training After clicking on the chosen course, the following screen will appear, you need to subscribe to the course ESR access for elearning October 2016 Page 4 of 12
And then click on the finish button You will then be presented with the screen where you actually launch the course, by clicking on the Play button ESR access for elearning October 2016 Page 5 of 12
This will then launch the course, and you can use the navigation buttons to work your way through the course. Completing the Course After completing a course (viewing all its slides and answering any embedded questions, you will be presented with your final score and whether you have passed the module or not. To exit the course, click the House button found on the top right of the course window. DO NOT click the red X button. The Learning Certification list, will list the CSTF elearning modules. For example, if Fire Safety is needed, from the Learning Certification list choose 001 Fire Safety e-learning Certification The site will inform you about how long you have to complete the course and its validity. Selecting the 001 Fire Safety e-learning Certification, will provide you with an overview of the course Underneath, we can see the competency attached to completion the course. As explained previously, to start the course, click Subscribe then click Finish If for some reason, you had to log out without completing the course. Log back to into ESR and access the elearning section, then from the panel on the right, you can see the course you ve previously subscribed to. ESR access for elearning October 2016 Page 7 of 12
If you decide not to proceed with the elearning session, click Unsubscribe, otherwise to start the course: 1. Click the course title 2. From the next window, click on the Choose or Enroll in Class button, enter any special instructions if any then click Apply 3. Click the Play button to start the course. If you unsubscribe from a course, it will still be listed within your elearning window. Once the course is completed, the course listing will be updated to reflect that the module has been passed. A date for renewal will be provided as well as you can see from the image below. ESR access for elearning October 2016 Page 8 of 12
Accessing the Compliance Matrix After logging into ESR and selecting 001 e-learning User, and from the Manage your learning section, select Compliance & Competency to view your compliance, i.e, what mandatory & statutory modules are still valid and which have expired. As the image above shows, the Mandatory & Statutory courses you re required to achieve are listed on the left hand side along with levels attained and their expiry dates if relevant. The colour codes in the second column, mean the following: Light green: compliant with three or more months left Yellow: compliant with less than three months left Blue: you have the competence but it s not a requirement Red: Not compliant, may have expired or never achieved. To return to Home page, click elearner Home Page or Printing the Compliance Matrix To print a printer-friendly version of the page, click Printable Page. A second window will open with the data. Go to the File menu then select Print. You can close this window after printing the information. At any point you can return to the main ESR screen by clicking Home at the top right of the Screen. Requesting Remote access You can access your elearning portal for home, however before you can do this you need to request this privilege while connected to the network. You cannot request this remotely. 1. Log onto your ESR and select 001 e-learning User 2. Select Request Internet Access 3. Enter a new Username (this must be different from your ESR (Nadex) username) 4. Enter a new Password and confirm 5. Click Submit Depending on your role and hierarchy, the request will have to be approved before remote access can be granted ESR access for elearning October 2016 Page 10 of 12
The Elearning Platform 1. From the ESR main screen, select e-learning. A new window Learning Management will open. At first, we re presented on the left with a list of courses that are out of compliance (if any). As you can see in the example below, there are two courses that need to be achieved. To find any upcoming scheduled courses, click the Search tool to the right of the course listing (magnifying glass) for a list to be displayed. For example, to achieve the out of compliance Moving and Handling subject, clicking on the Search button will display a few options including elearning and classroom sessions. elearning packages are normally displayed at the top as the image across shows. To choose the elearning module, click Details towards the far left. From the following screen, select Subscribe then click Finish. You still need to enrol on the course, so click Choose or Enrol in Class. Click Apply from the next screen. Finally, click the Play button on the far left to run the course. Returning to the Home Screen To return to the elearning Home screen, click Home at the top right If you re viewing the Compliance Matrix, click Learner Home Remember, since you re in a different window, clicking Home will not take you back to Employee Self Service. To return to Self Service, using the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen, click the other ESR window (still open in the background). It might have timed out and you may need to log back in. Main ESR Window elearning Window Expired Courses If you don t complete the course within the time allocated, your enrolment will expire and you will have to enrol again. To renew the enrolment, click Renew for the expired course then Apply from the next window and take note of the expiry date you re given.
