Details of Chapter activities 1. Hold the Seminar of Metal Optics and Plasmonics On 12 th May, we have held a seminar of Metal Optics and Plasmonics for Biosensing, Energy Harvesting, and Color Display at the second meeting room of Graphic information center. The seminar was organized by Professor Sen Han and sponsored by the SPIE Activity Grant, the lecturer is Dr. Junpeng Guo who is from University of Alabama in Huntsville. Nearly 40 teachers and students from our school attended the seminar. At the conference, Dr. Guo introduced his research about a new kind of surface plasmon resonance sensor without optical spectrometer. He also introduced some metal nanostructures which can be applied in solar energy harvesting and optical display. Photos:
2. Sports Activity In June, we held a basketball match, and most of the students in our chapter took part in this activity. Our relationship as well as teamwork ability were getting better by this match. Photos:
3. Organize Members to Attend the Seminar of Detecting Single Nanoparticle On 7 th Sep., we have organized our members to attend a seminar of Using Micro Optical Resonator with High Quality Factor to Detect Single Nanoparticle at the second meeting room of Graphic information center. The seminar was organized by Professor Dawei Zhang and the lecturer is Dr. Yunfeng Xiao who is from Peking University. Nearly 30 teachers and students from our school attended the seminar. Dr. Xiao introduced his experiments about using resonant mode broadening or Raman laser separation mode in microcavity to detect single nanoparticle. Particles with 20nm diameter were detected under the water soluble environment.
Photos: 4. Visit the Company of Thorlabs On 26 th Oct., we organized our memberships to visit the company of Thorlabs in Shanghai. Their engineer showed us the company s latest research and development of equipment, including vivo two-photon microscopy, optical tweezers, ellipsometer and so on, they also took us to visit their labs of liquid crystal. In Thorlabs, we learned many useful knowledge about various optical devices which is very helpful to our study and research.

She brought us new thoughts about the recruitment of new members and the management of the chapter from the conference. Besides, she got acquainted with presidents from other chapters, and communicated with them about the experiences of running the chapter, it is very useful for the development of our chapter in the future.
