Details of Chapter activities 1. Hold the Seminar of Aspheric and Free Spherical Optical Research We have held a seminar of aspheric and free spherical optical research at the second meeting room of Graphic information center. The seminar was organized by Professor Sen Han who is a SPIE Fellow and the lecturer is Dr. Peng Su from United States Arizona University. Nearly 40 teachers and students from our school attended the seminar. At the conference, Dr Su introduced his research about Aspheric and free Spherical machining and measuring, and discussed three detection methods for free surface with teachers and students. Photos:
2. Academic Communication In the communication meeting, many outstanding PhD from our college shared the current situation of their laboratory and the direction of their research,and they also gave their advices to the present students about the problems they encountered in study, work as well as life. The communication is a total open discussion and everyone can exchange their thoughts in a relaxed atmosphere. Photos:
3. Communication with Enterprise On May 10th,we organized our memberships to visit the Suzhou Huili Instrument LLC. First, Professor Sen Han who is the president of the company shared his life experience and venture development experience. He told us to learn how to keep a low key personhood, and should ready to start from scratch all the time. After the meeting, Dr. Han showed us the company s latest research and development of equipment. This activity gives us a good communication platform which is very benefit for us in our later career. 4. Congratulations to the establishment of usst SPIE student club The ceremony of the establishment of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology SPIE student chapter has held on October 6th. We invited SPIE president Dr. H. Philip Stahl, and many school leaders to attend the activity. There were more than 40 students and teachers present in the opening ceremony. In addition, we also invited officers from other SPIE student chapter in shanghai, including Shanghai JiaoTong University and Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanic. The principal Shougen Hu and Dr. H. Philip Stahl unveiled the branch of bronze together, and then announced that the usst SPIE student club was formally established. After the meeting, Dr. H. Philip Stahl visited modern optical system lab with our school leaderships, and had a discussion about some academic questions in the field of optical engineering. Photos:
