To realize this vision, the Board of Trustees and the staff of Camas County School District work in a concerted effort to use our resources, talents and skills to help each student succeed in school. Our Mission: The mission of Camas School District #121 is to provide each student an optimal educational experience in a safe and caring environment in order to become productive and engaged members of a global society. Students need to be determined to productively enter the workforce or postsecondary education to pursue their career aspirations. The staff of Camas County School District 121 is committed to helping each of our students graduate prepared to move on to their next choice. Our Strategic Plan will guide the strategic focus of the Camas School District as we move toward the year 2020. We Believe Our purpose is to develop the highest possible level of academic excellence. Learning should be an exciting, life-long process fostered by the home, school, and the community. Students will be prepared to compete in a global, professional-technical setting. All students will learn given focused curriculum, appropriate instruction and adequate time. Success is displayed in many forms. Students will be provided with a safe and secure school environment

Professional development that is focused on student achievement & supported to move it into practice Our Challenges We face our challenges to reach our vision! Updating curriculum to align with the new challenges of the Idaho Common Core and providing a coherent and aligned quality K-12 written curriculum. The detrimental effects on students with high mobility must be minimized through planned system wide monitoring and plans for reducing those effects. Students across all groups need to meet or exceed state defined learning proficiencies, no matter what the measurement tools or scales from the state may be. Each school must be prepared to meet or exceed accountability standards as established in a changing environment set by the State of Idaho. Annual Yearly Progress, by any name must be a target of achievement for all schools. Systems need to be in place across the district to support schools to bring all students to high levels of achievement, especially with the implementation of the Idaho Common Core. Optimize the use of human and financial resources to realize our vision. Maintain a highly qualified staff in all instructional areas during a time when very few people are choosing education as a career choice.
Strategic Goals: GOAL 1: The educational program will achieve consistent academic growth demonstrated by each individual student. 1.1: Curriculum will be viable and aligned K-12 to the Idaho Common Core Standards. 1.2: Staff will address student needs individually to all educational levels based on data analysis by providing enrichment opportunities or academic interventions where appropriate. 1.3: Staff will continue to receive Professional Development on Research-based strategies and collaborate efforts in working to promote an environment of shared instruction. 1.4: The District will seek to expand upon current opportunities for parents and guardians to assist in the educational experience of their students cultivating appropriate partnerships between school and home. GOAL 2: The District will recruit, hire, support, and evaluate a high quality and engaged administration, faculty and staff. 2.1: The District will utilize innovative strategies to refine the recruitment process in seekin qualified candidates to fill vacated positions. 2.2: The mentoring program will be further developed to assist new staff in assimilation of quality education practice and protocol as a means of welcoming and providing support. 2.3: The District will adopt a comprehensive performance evaluation and development system that fairly, accurately and credibly differentiates teachers based on their effectiveness in promoting student achievement. 2.4: Staff will continue to receive educational opportunities that promote Professional Learning Community involvement in which they are active learners and instructors of best practice. GOAL 3: Each student meets or exceeds proficiency in reading, language, math and science. 3.1: Use a comprehensive standards based system across all grades and all classes. Consistently teaching the written district curriculum across grades and classes. Using assessments to motivate students, adjust teaching, and monitor progress. Utilize standards-based grading and reporting practices. 3.2: Develop and use data to inform decisions by teachers, principals, and district leaders. 3.3: Build staff capabilities at all levels to collaborate in professional learning communities.
GOAL 4: Ensure that intervention systems are in place to support and advance high achievement for all students. 4.1: Develop tiered system of interventions K-12. 4.2: Develop responses for students with behavior challenges. 4.3: Develop consistent services across buildings, and between programs such as all federal programs and building interventions. 4.4: Develop academic responses for high-achieving students. GOAL 5: Use effective instructional strategies that promote acquisition of knowledge, skills and higher order thinking. 5.1: Prepare and support teachers to continuously improve instructional practices. 5.2: Utilize technology as a vehicle for learning. 5.3: Use consistent instructional monitoring practices across all schools to continuously improve student learning. GOAL 6: Relationships with students will demonstrate high expectations for their learning and support for their success. 6.1: Cultivate positive relationships and successful learning conditions for all students and staff. 6.2: Provide opportunities for parents to learn how to support their children s education & participate in activities. 6.3 Provide alternative and multiple educational opportunities to meet varied student needs. GOAL 7: We evaluate our programs to continuously improve our results for students. 7.1: Develop a Comprehensive District Annual Profile of Performance using our performance indicators. 7.2: Use district key performance indicators to guide decisions and measure program effectiveness. 7.3: Optimize use of Mileposts and valid assessment data.
GOAL 8: A strong financial position will be maintained in order to meet long term goals. 8.1: A strong fiduciary responsibility will continue to be a key component of District operations and will guide the decision-making process when appropriate. 8.2: Prioritization will be given to maintaining fund balance targets in the education, operation and maintenance, transportation and working cash funds. 8:3: The District s financial rating ad fiscal management processes will be clearly communicated to all members of the Camas County School District community. 8.4: Members of the District 121 community will actively pursue the restoration of adequate Idaho State financial support for public education. GOAL 9: Strong partnerships with parents and the greater community will be maintained and developed. 9.1: Foster District communications with the community in order to better inform all stakeholders. 9.2: School staff will provide timely information to parents and patrons through traditional forums such as district newsletters and personal notes, as well as posting approved messages to the district website, classroom web pages, and School Reach. 9.3: The District will look to continuously gain feedback forom the school community through public meetings, strategic planning sessions, scheduled visitors during School Trustee Meetings and other technology media.
Discovery: KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI s) These KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI s) are the primary gauges that we measure, manage and monitor for our success. These indicators are intended to give a minimum required protocol of key data based findings that can be easily read and interpreted. These indicators will be used on a schedule developed by District staff to give a shared data based report on the state of the District. The information will be used in guiding decisions with clear data that also draws clear implications to the educational process. This reporting work will be reviewed and reported out to District Trustees. Camas County School District 121 1. Proficiency and growth levels on State Assessments as defined by State Reporting 2. College and Career readiness reporting at a minimum to include SAT/ACT scores (disaggregated), Dual Credit and Professional Technical Certifications. 3. Course completion and grade level/grade distribution performance. 4. School Attendance Reporting. 5. Student Conduct based on In School and Out of School Suspension Levels 6. Graduation Rate as a K-12 Indicator. 7. District and School Performance using Annual Measurable Outcomes or new systems as they may be developed by the State of Idaho. 8. Retention rates of staff. 9. Stakeholder perception and satisfaction survey information. 10. Fiscal Accountability as described in the annual audit 11. Percent of teachers in Master Teacher category as the state career ladder is rolled out. 12. Grant funds to provide additional opportunities for staff and students 13. Ability to provide a competitive salary to recruit and retain qualified staff. Key Performance Indicators (KPI), as described in the plan, will continue to be monitored. Building principals will report on their building progress at least once annually to the Camas County School District Board of Trustees. Focus areas may change from year to year as the objectives are met.
