Pittsburgh Summer Institute Public Health in Action Introduction The Pittsburgh Summer Institute (PSI) is a partnership between the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) and the Pennsylvania Public Health Training Center (PAPHTC). It provides an experiential learning opportunity for students at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. Located in southwestern Pennsylvania, Allegheny County is the second largest urban area in the Commonwealth and includes 130 individual municipalities. For over 50 years, ACHD has been responsible for protecting the public health and environment for more than 1.2 million county residents. PAPHTC, based at the Graduate School of Public Health and operated in partnership with Drexel University School of Public Health and the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Center for Rural Health Practice, is part of the national network of public health training centers funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
