1 Background Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) has pioneered as a university combining technology business since 1969. Our international, entrepreneurially minded scientific community consists of some 4400 Bachel s Master s students, 580 doctal students 900 staff members (2015). There are close to 70 different nationalities at our university. One third of our incoming students are feign nationals. In 2015, our budget was around 80 million euros, 40% being supplementary funding. The focus areas of LUT's research education are clean energy, the circular economy, sustainable business entrepreneurship. LUT s researcher resources are allocated to three Schools: the LUT School of Energy Systems (LES), the LUT School of Engineering Science (LENS) the LUT School of Business Management (LBM). The internationally awarded Green Campus we share with Saimaa University of Applied Sciences will be further developed as a maj research infrastructure a place f piloting demonstrating our research innovation. It will also function as a hub f our renewed education intensified cooperation with enterprises. LUT School of Business Management (LBM) Our mission is to educate research-based problem solvers in the fields of business, industrial management software engineering. We do this by creating sharing business-relevant knowledge f the benefit of students, businesses, the academic community society at large. In our 2020 vision, we are internationally recognised f our impact on sustainable value creation enabled by new technologies an entrepreneurial spirit. Our research education are characterised by an entrepreneurial, global sustainable mindset. We focus on understing the facts that lead to sustainable value creation, i.e. approaches that enable the growth, renewal internationalisation of firms in a way that is economically, ecologically socially sustainable. We seek better to underst the role of businesses management in addressing the key problems of humankind. In particular, we focus on changes growth opptunities that are driven by new digital technologies new fms of ganising. Our ce strength is close collabation with business life combined with strong theetical, analytical methodological expertise. The LUT School of Business Management is a strong research unit of 40 professs, 70 post-doctal researchers 50 doctal students. Vacant position We seek a profess in industrial engineering management (IEM) specialising in innovation management especially product, service, technology systems design methods. LUT possesses strong expertise in innovation processes in this focus area, we wish to add to it through expertise in design methods. The vacant professship will reinfce the School's education research in innovation management. In education, the professship is connected to the international GMIT Master's in industrial management, which focuses on innovation technology management, to the Master's in production management with a course module in systems engineering. Research on innovation sustainable value creation is one of LUT's strategic focus areas. Innovation management is an imptant research field plays an imptant role in terms of 2

the competitiveness of the Finnish national economy when Finnish industry develops new products, services, technologies operating models. The duties of the professship include the of planning methods that promote the creation of innovations. The field of the professship covers e.g. the following themes: - suppting the design of new technologies, products, services - innovation management methods - methods f systematic creativity - invention, inventive design, IPR - technology fesight fecasting methods - socio-technical systems engineering. The applicant appointed to the professship is expected to present strong research merits in any of the above-mentioned areas, proof of successful project wk research cooperation. The duties also include the following: - high-level scientific applied research in the research field in question - establishing heading a research group acquiring funding f it - acquisition of external funding - the active of research projects in the professship's research field acquiring funding f them, which is the prerequisite f research activity. To this end, the person appointed to the position is required to establish contacts outside the university to netwk at both the national international levels especially with industry, the science community, sponss. - responsibility f undergraduate postgraduate education in the professship's field of education - administrative duties of the university School. The position is situated at the associate profess/full profess levels of the tenure track system it is filled through an open application process f a fixed four-year term (associate profess) until further notice (full profess). The position starts with a four-month trial period. 2 Qualifications Accding to the administrative regulations of Lappeenranta University of Technology, adopted on 11 December 2014 amended on 15 March 2016, a profess is required to have a doctate, high-level scientific qualifications, experience in heading scientific research, the ability to acquire funding, the ability to provide high-level instruction based on research, the ability to supervise final theses, proof of international cooperation in his/her field of research, when relevant to the duties of the position, practical experience in the field of the professship. This position requires practical experience in the field of the professship. The person must have research merits, proof of effective research the acquisition of external research funding, international experience. In the appointment, attention will be paid to the applicant's merits which are defined in the tenure track system of Lappeenranta University of Technology (Annex). Under the universities decree (770/2009), a person in a research position at a university is required to master the language, Finnish Swedish, in which he she teaches. Accding to the university regulations, section 16, a feign Finnish citizen who is not a native of Finl may be appointed to a research position regardless of the fact that he she has not skills in Finnish / Swedish. Accding to the university regulations, section 16, professs are required to have the language skills needed 3

f the successful completion of their duties. An applicant f a professship may demonstrate his her language skills with a language certificate accepted by the academic council / in an interview. In this position, al written fluency in English is required. The applicant must also agree to acquire Finnish skills sufficient f the completion of the duties in a reasonable amount of time, which is determined by the supervis the appointed cidate together. 3 Applying f the position Application The application should mention the tenure track level f which the applicant is applying. The deadline f applications is indicated in the vacancy announcement. The application material f expert assesss should primarily be submitted through the online recruitment system mentioned in the vacancy announcement e-mailed to the university's Recds Services (asiakirjat@lut.fi). The application its annexes must be in English. The application must include: A curriculum vitae A copy of the person's doctal diploma A full list of publications, including the total number of publications, citations, h- index ID in the Scopus database. In addition, infmation of the applicant's Google Scholar profile is required Publications f evaluation by experts (max. 10) A separate list of the publications submitted f expert evaluation A ptfolio an equivalent account of the person s qualifications An account of the person's merits activities of significance to the vacancy (max. 3 pages) An account in English of the person s vision on the of education, research projects in the field of the professship in Lappeenranta University of Technology (max. 3 pages) Contact infmation The applicant must give the university an e-mail address at which he she can be reached. If the applicant does not wish to be contacted by e-mail, he she must give a postal address at which he she can be reached during the appointment process. The university prefers e- mail. 4 Expert evaluats Selection of experts Befe the selection of expert evaluats, the applicants must be provided the possibility to comment on their disqualification. Based on the proposal of the preparaty committee, the head of school invites at least three feign experts to submit a statement on the qualification of the applicants. An expert evaluat may also be an internationally recognised Finnish person. The university's staff members may not be invited as expert evaluats. To the extent possible, the experts should be chosen with the applicants fields of specialisation in mind with a view to impartiality. Sections 27-29 of the Administrative Procedure Act (434/2003) apply to the disqualification of an expert evaluat. 4

Applications fwarded to expert evaluats The preparaty committee may limit the number of applications fwarded to expert evaluats if there are four applicants me. At least three applications must be fwarded to the experts. The applications may be limited to the most suitable cidates f the position in the view of the person making the decision. The preparaty committee must state the grounds f their decision. The applicants will be infmed if any applications are excluded from the evaluation. Expert statements Statements must be given by the expert evaluats in writing within two months. Me specific dates will be sent to the evaluats along with instructions. In their statement, the experts must evaluate especially the scientific qualification of the applicant, if possible, also other merits related to the professship, rank the applicants in der of preference. The experts may also discuss the matter amongst themselves give a collective statement. Expert evaluats may not take part in the appointment process at a later stage. The statement must be sent e-mailed to the university's Recds Services (asiakirjat@lut.fi) by the deadline. 5 Interview trial lecture The applicants evaluated by the experts will be invited to an interview. The preparaty committee may ask the applicants to give a public trial lecture. The academic council will assess the trial lecture in its following meeting. 6 Appointment The tenure track committee makes a proposal to the academic council concerning the appointment. The academic council then makes a proposal to the Rect on filling the position leaving it vacant. The proposal shall be based on the merits presented by the applicants, expert statements, possible trial lectures other related matters. The Rect decides either to appoint an applicant to leave the position vacant. The Rect may deem it necessary to acquire additional infmation to suppt the decision. The appointment proposal may be made let lapse even if all of the experts have not submitted their statements, provided that the time limit f the statements has expired, at least three experts have submitted their statements, the impartial treatment of the applicants is not compromised by doing so. After the Rect has made the appointment decision, an employment contract is concluded with the appointed person. If no employment contract is concluded, the Rect may, based on the proposal by the academic council, make a new decision appoint another applicant. The Rect may also leave the position vacant. When the employment contract is concluded with the person appointed, the final decision is made known to all applicants. 5

Annex Tenure track appointment criteria The positions require a doctate in an applicable field, a research field that fits the LUT strategy (see LUT Strategy 2020), a goal-iented plan f the wk in question, experience an up-to-date ptfolio. The table at the end of this document can be applied to the evaluation of merits. In international recruitments, the evaluation must take into account that applicants from outside of Finl Europe may not have been involved in Finnish European research projects have thus not taken into consideration the Finnish Publication Fum classification. Such applicants are evaluated in terms of their success in acquiring competitive funding through their own national channels through international ones, in terms of impact facts of scientific journals in their own field. Only in promotion tenure reviews can the same criteria be applied to them as to Finnish persons. The following merits of the applicant must be taken into account in the appointment: Associate profess: o Successful publication histy after the doctal defence, target of 3 publications/year with a national Publication Fum rating. o Proof of participation in international cooperation. o Successful acquisition of external funding acting as e.g. a project manager in externally funded projects. o Applying f post-doctal researcher posts of the Academy of Finl. o Participation in the supervision of doctal students. o Participation in the commercialisation of research results. o Participation in, the of the supervision of final theses. Full profess: o Proof of successful perfmance of duties 1.
