Course Title: Research Methods in Library & Information Science I III. Course Description: The course is designed to equip undergraduate students with the knowledge and skills in making a research proposals concentrated on library science concerns A. Course Objectives: Institutional Objectives: HCDC aims to help students develop themselves into well-integrated, Christ-like, Filipino leaders. During their stay in the school, the human relationship, subject content, classroom atmosphere, in-campus and offcampus activities shall have nourished and nurtured their body and soul, mind and heart, will and imagination, so that in their words and actions, they consistently live the teaching and example of Jesus Christ, as well as the best in the Filipino socio-cultural and spiritual heritage. Thus, becoming whole persons, they shall be leaders whose services shall contribute to the improvement of life, especially on the tasks of members in a group or a community. B. Course Objectives: At the end of the course, the students must be able to: B.1. Cognitive (Creed) B.1.1. Define basic research and principles which are required in conducting and writing research proposals. B.1.2. Recognize the essential parts of a research proposal concentrating on library science issues. B.1.1. Analyze the organizational structure of a research proposal. 1
B.2. Affective (Moral) B.2.1. Observe the ethical standards associated in conducting researches. B.2.2. Appreciate the contributions of authors and other informants through proper citations and references. B.2.3. Value critical thinking as a way to liberal or independent learning. B.2.4. Show sensitivity and appreciation to the art of making researches. B.3. Psychomotor (Skills) B.3.1. Write research proposals of not less than 25 pages about library science issues which can lead to the enhancement of the field. B.3.2. Orally defend the proposals before a panel. B.3.3. Produce the fully revised and edited proposal. IV.
