WHAT IS PROJECT LEAD? Project LEAD was created to seek out emerging leaders and prepare them for positions of public leadership. This preparation will allow for the development of well-informed and highly-motivated leaders that are qualified to assume present and future leadership roles in the Fort Atkinson area. Through a series of monthly training sessions, Project LEAD emphasizes leadership concepts and community needs. Each session features local leaders and specialists in various forums, including group discussions, question and answer sessions, and tours throughout the community. Project LEAD requires a minimum commitment of one Wednesday morning each month from September through June, a Wednesday evening retreat, and a participation fee of $250. THE OBJECTIVES OF PROJECT LEAD To provide a resource for existing and emerging leaders to develop increased awareness and understanding of the issues and opportunities that affect the Fort Atkinson area. To develop a support system among participants to aid them in their leadership efforts. To increase and broaden the participants understanding of the Fort Atkinson area. To promote involvement and participation in volunteer, elective, and appointed positions within Fort Atkinson. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE? Any person affiliated with a Fort Atkinson Chamber member organization who has an interest in the objectives of Project LEAD is eligible to participate. WHAT IS THE PROGRAM FORMAT? Each Project LEAD session is divided into three sections: Community Focus, Leadership Development, and Team Project. Class time consists of lectures, tours, and group discussions. The Team Project may require additional meetings outside regular class time. WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO DROP PROJECT LEAD DUE TO WORK COMMITMENTS? Attendance and participation are critical to the success of Project LEAD, and affect the success of other students as well as the overall program. Students who are unsure of their time availability should wait to participate until their schedule allows. A full refund is available to registrants who drop by September 20, 2017. A position in the succeeding year s class will be held for anyone who drops after that deadline. WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR PROJECT LEAD GRADUATION? Participants are expected to attend all sessions and positively contribute to the Team Project. If a student misses class or project time, the Fort Atkinson Chamber Board will determine whether or not that student has fulfilled the requirements for graduation. WHAT HAPPENS AFTER GRADUATION? Project LEAD s intent is to help graduates plug in to leadership and service opportunities in the Fort Atkinson area. While not required, it is assumed that graduates will consider joining a local service organization, step up their participation with existing affiliations, or seek positions on city or chamber committees.
