Card Technologies Summary of Results 85.50% of respondents use MIFARE technology 90.84% of education institutions only use the card serial number (e.g. MIFARE UID) to validate access to services Choice of Systems (developed in-house or third party vendor system) 48.85% - Preference for third party vendor system 17.56% - preference for the developed in-house 30.53% - Preference for a Hybrid system (vendor and in-house system) Card Issuing, expiry date and tokens 72.66% - Instant issuing and personalization upon registration 26.56% - Deferred issuing Card expiry date 13.28% - end of each academic semester 34.38% - end of each academic year 32.03% - end of the final academic year

Summary of Results Pre-printed card V plain un-printed cards 65.63% - use pre-printed cards 24.22% - use plain un-printed cards Use of multi tokens 22.66% - Facilitate the use of multi tokens Secure Identification and Authentication 58.59% of respondents rated this as very important 35.94% of respondents rated this as important Value load and storage of value 69.23% - use a Back Office account to store value 71.43% - use web top-up facility 41.27% - use mobile devices to top-up 46.03% - use the conventional top-up stations (cash to card machines)

Summary of Results Use of Card off-campus to purchase products 69.84% not interested in this option Mobile Devices and Applications 41.41% currently use mobile devices to access services on campus 61.72% use a hybrid of mobile devices and the ID Card to provide secure eid credentials Interoperability and Standards 32.81% rate this as very important with a further 39.84% rating it as important 58.59% of respondents favoured the option of a campus card facilitating the authentication of a student status and access to services in other campuses. Card Validation and Self Service Kiosks Semester validation of cards is a requirement in 25.78% of campuses 44.12% use Self Service Kiosks to validate cards 63.35% of respondents rate the use of Self Service Kiosks as very important or important
