COURSES AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR HIGHER NITEC GRADUATES Applicable to Higher Nitec graduates attaining the following ITE qualifications: - Certificate in Business Studies in Accounting - Higher Nitec In Business Studies (Accounting) / Accounting To be eligible for consideration for admission to the various polytechnic courses, you must achieve, in your Higher Nitec course, the minimum NET Grade Point Average (GPA) (including CCA bonus points) for the different polytechnic course durations as shown in Table 1 below. Some polytechnic courses also have additional prerequisites, in addition to the course entry requirements. You must fulfil the additional prerequisites to be considered for the relevant courses. Please refer to the footnotes, if any, for the additional prerequisites. All Higher Nitec graduates applying for Direct Entry to Year 2 must pass ITE Bridging Mathematics programme (BM1) or obtain at least a C6 grade in GCE O level Mathematics. n1 Applicants with severe vision deficiency should not apply for these courses. n2 Applicants must ensure that they do not suffer from colour vision deficiency. For N40, N43, N44, N50, N55, N74, N76, N84 and N92, applicants with colour vision deficiency may be considered subject to an in-house test. n3 n4 n5 n6 n7 n8 Applicants must ensure that they do not suffer from hearing deficiency. For those with GPA of > 3.5, admission will be to the 3-year programmes with module exemptions for relevant modules in which an applicant has scored at least a C grade in the ITE examinations. Module exemptions will be at the discretion of the Polytechnic. Those with GPA of > 3.5 may be granted direct entry to the 2nd year of a 3-year course provided that they passed Bridging Maths 1 (BM1) programme at ITE or obtained at least a C6 grade in GCE O Level Mathematics. Applicants have to pass a medical examination and must be free from physical handicap. Entry to first year with exemption of first 6 months in Year 1 for those with GPA of > 3.5 (Course commences in Semester 2). Entry to Year 1 Semester 1 with no exemption for those with 3.0 < GPA < 3.5. Applicants granted direct entry to Year 2 of the Marine & Offshore Technology course (N42) are required to take a Year 1 module, Fundamentals of Naval Architecture 2. r1 r2 r3 r4 r5 Applicants with severe vision deficiency should not apply for these courses. All successful applicants are required to pass a pre-admission medical examination to ensure suitability for the posted course. Applicants may be assessed on a case-by-case basis to verify the severity of the conditions to determine suitability for the course. This course will demand from students a considerable amount of involvement in water based activities. As such, students should be able to show confidence in water related activities. Applicants with hearing deficiency should not apply for these courses. For safety reasons, applicants applying for these courses must ensure that they do not suffer from epilepsy. Due to the nature of the outdoor and adventure learning job requirements, candidates seeking admission into the Diploma in Outdoor and Adventure Learning (DOAL) should enjoy working with youth in the outdoor environment consisting of natural and adventurous elements. The course will demand from students a substantial amount of involvement in physical activity and water based experiential activities. As such, having an affinity for the outdoors and adventure pursuits will be advantageous. Additionally, students should be able to show confidence in water whilst donning a personal flotation device. r6 r7 Applicants with colour appreciation deficiency should not apply for these courses. Common Engineering Programme allows a student to take a common course of study in the first semester and will subsequently be streamed into one of the following Engineering diplomas: Aerospace Avionics Aerospace Engineering Aviation Management Electrical and Electronic Engineering Engineering Systems and Management Green Building Energy Management Industrial and Operations Management Supply Chain Management r8 r9 r10 Students enrolled in this diploma will have to produce documentary proof of school representation in sports recognised by the Singapore Schools Sports Council or its equivalent at point of enrolment. Applicants with colour appreciation deficiency may apply for and be admitted into these courses if determined suitable at an interview. All DPP graduates applying to year 2 of the courses must pass ITE Bridging Maths 1 (BM1) or obtain at least a C6 grades in O Level maths. s1 s2 s3 s4 s5 Applicants must ensure that they do not suffer from colour vision deficiency. Applicants must ensure that they do not suffer from either colour vision deficiency or hearing deficiency. Applicants suffering from epilepsy will be required to submit a medical report from a Designated Workplace Doctor who will assess their fitness for the posted courses. Applicants suffering from impairments must be prepared to appear for interviews and to undergo any manual dexterity or aptitude tests. Those with GPA of 3.5 or more and passed the Bridging Maths 1 (BM1) programme, or have obtained at least C6 grade in GCE O Level Mathematics, may be admitted to the 2nd year of the 3-year course. t1 t2 t3 t4 t5 Applicants with complete Colour Vision Deficiency are not eligible to apply. Applicants with partial or complete Colour Vision Deficiency are not eligible to apply. For safety reasons, applicants applying for these courses must ensure that they do not suffer from medical conditions such as uncontrolled epilepsy or profound hearing loss. Applicants with severe vision impairment are not eligible to apply. In addition to satisfying the Fitness requirement at the Polytechnic s pre-enrolment medical examination and medical requirements of other regulatory authorities (if applicable), applicants offered a place in T54 (Diploma in Early Childhood Studies) must also be free from physical disabilities. Whilst not comprehensive, the following medical conditions may lead to non-acceptance into the Early Childhood Studies course: Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Active tuberculosis HBsAg positive / Hepatitis B Carrier Mobility restricted Physical dependence upon mobility equipment Profound deafness Uncontrolled asthma Uncontrolled diabetes Uncontrolled epilepsy Legal Blindness Psychiatric condition Uncontrolled hypertension Page 4 of 5

t6 t7 t8 The first year in T01 (Business/Logistics & Operations Management/Marketing) is common to all students and they will opt for one of the diplomas (i.e. Diploma in Business, Diploma in Logistics & Operations Management, or Diploma in Marketing) at the end of Year 1. Applicants applying for T09 (Diploma in Law & Management) must also possess at least a B4 grade in English Language (EL1) in the GCE O Level/SPM examinations. The first semester in the following courses is common to all students and they will opt for one of the diplomas at the end of Semester 1 or 2. Students must ensure that they satisfy the requirements as stated in the footnotes under the respective courses.
