Engage Experience 50 leadership hurs required per semester Often, L.E.A.D. students becme invlved with n-campus rganizatins like Student Gvernment, UVU Clubs, Wlverine Ambassadrs, and UVU Service Learning; hwever, L.E.A.D. students may chse t engage in ff-campus pprtunities where they actively fulfill a leadership rle. 6
Acquire Thery T gain a knwledge f leadership styles, L.E.A.D. students attend wrkshps and seminars. L.E.A.D. students are als encuraged t read bks r watch webinars t gain leadership insights. The CAL hsts its wn mnthly lecture series, which students are encuraged t attend. Cursewrk L.E.A.D. students als cmplete several leadership curses which teach an academic cncept f leadership. These curses include Principles f Leadership and ver 70 ther leadership fcused electives. Discver Strengths Quest Finder (YEAR 1 PARTICIPANTS ONLY) 360 Evaluatin (YEAR 2 PARTICPANTS ONLY) When beginning the prgram, each L.E.A.D. student participates in a multi-rater assessment prcess which identifies his r her strengths and pprtunities fr grwth. Students then create an actin plan using the feedback frm the evaluatin. Reflectin Jurnals (ALL PARTICIPANTS) While pursuing leadership distinctin, students keep a mnthly jurnal f prgress made n their actin plan. In this way, students are able t reflect n what they have learned and are able t track their grwth 7
Rle f CAL LEAD Team Leader 1. What is a CAL L.E.A.D. Team Leader? A Team Leader is a secnd year L.E.A.D. Prgram student r a graduate f the L.E.A.D. Prgram. They carry many respnsibilities which include: TL s + L.E.A.D. TEAM MEMBERS: Meet ne n ne mnthly with each team member. Review team member s thery hurs, leadership experiences, and reflectins. Facilitate team member s prgress in the L.E.A.D. Prgram thrugh the nline prgram tracker (via BOX) Serve as a peer mentr Cnnect students t the UVU experience thrugh clubs, rganizatins, pprtunities, r ther resurces. Thrugh persnal example, help students understand the value f bth academic and leadership develpment. TL s + TEAM MENTORS: Cnnect with yur Team Mentr & Team at Meet Yur Mentr event. This is a fun event that takes place n campus tward the beginning f the academic year. Yu ll enjy refreshments and the pprtunity t set yur mentring gals and expectatins with yur Team. Organize student and mentr schedules t find a gd meeting time and place. Fllw up with Team members t remind them f meeting time, place, tpic, and/r assignments. Attend mnthly mentr meetings with yur team. Keep the mentr up t date n team members cntact infrmatin changes. Serve as the liaisn between yu and yur Team and Team Mentr. 8
