Objectives: Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) is organizing a Certificate Course on Business Analytics to augment the highly inadequate supply of skilled professionals required by the industry. The course aims at preparing the participants to tackle real life analytics problems using Statistical models and Machine Learning techniques. Adequate exposure to statistical software will be provided to enable the participants to analyse large scale data. Programme Dates and Duration: The programme will be conducted on Weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) between 29 July and 17 September 2017. July 2017 29, 30 August 2017 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27 September 2017 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17 10:00 to 17:30 Hrs. each day. [Extendable] A certificate examination will be conducted after the course and proficiency certificate will be issued to successful candidates only. Target Group: Working professionals in IT / ITES, BI professionals, Engineering & Technical Professional with IT background, economic analysts, risk analysts and banking professionals, and students aspiring to get into analytics. Eligibility: Degree in any discipline with exposure in Mathematics. In addition, participants should be conversant with basic mathematical concepts including concepts of functions and graphs, elementary permutations and combinations, elementary calculus, basic theory of sets, concepts of series, and elementary concepts of matrices. They should have some exposure to programming either in a statistical software or otherwise essentially they should have an understanding of basic programming logic / structure. They should implement R Studio on their laptop and bring the same during the course. Prior knowledge of statistics / machine learning / statistical software is not essential. Course Content: Overview of Business Analytics, Basic Statistical Concepts, Data Summarization, Concepts of Statistical Distribution, Estimation, Hypothesis Testing, Correlation - Regression, Risk Analysis Forecasting, Tree-based Methods, Cross Validation, Optimization, Data Mining, Deep Learning Techniques. Program Charges: For this Inaugural Programme, the participants will enjoy paying a discounted Course Fee of Rs. 60,000/- per head. The total fee payable will come to Rs. 69,000/- including existing taxes and cess (15% at present). If there is any change in the Govt. tax rate, above total fee may be different. Food: Lunch and Tea/Coffee will be provided during the program. Course Material: Soft copy of course material / hand-outs and exercises / case studies will be provided during the program.
