INTO CSU Center Job Description: Pathway Program Coordinator (Special Instructor) Context This is a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track academic faculty position in the INTO Colorado State University Center (INTO CSU) beginning February 2, 2015. The Pathway Program Coordinator is a highly experienced ESL / EFL professional who ensures, maintains, and improves the quality of instruction and curriculum of the various INTO CSU / Colorado State University Pathway Programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. INTO CSU is a Limited Liability Corporation joint venture between INTO University Partnerships (IUP) and Colorado State University (CSU). IUP is an organization working in partnership with leading universities and investing in the development of world-class international student centers. It specializes in preparing students for undergraduate and post-graduate study. INTO centers deliver to academically qualifying students guaranteed progression into University undergraduate and post-graduate degree programs. Each INTO center is managed by a joint venture governing board in which INTO and the partner university are equal shareholders. Colorado State University is one of the nation s premiere land-grant teaching and research universities, with a total enrollment of over 28,000 students. Through its academic programs in eight colleges and extensive student services CSU offers excellent education, support, and guidance to over 1,500 international students and scholars. Colorado State University is in Fort Collins, a city located 65 miles north of Denver with a population of approximately 145,000 people. Located at the western edge of the Great Plains and at the eastern base of the Rocky Mountain foothills, Fort Collins boasts an ideal climate and provides easy access to numerous cultural and recreational opportunities.

The INTO CSU Center, residing on the CSU campus, specializes in training international students in Academic and General English and Academic Pathway programs that prepare students for success at CSU, in keeping with CSU s goals for student success and campus internationalization. Key Responsibilities Work with the Director of Pathways and English Language programs to oversee the effective implementation of the Pathway programs (i.e., planning, supervision, delivery, and program assessment / evaluation) Participate in hiring, orientation, mentoring, observation, and evaluation of faculty in the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and KEY (Living Learning Community) courses that are part of the Pathway programs Participate in hiring, orientation, mentoring, observation, and evaluation of Graduate Interns assisting EAP and KEY course instructors Meet with faculty assigned to teach EAP and KEY classes in the Pathway Program before the beginning of each semester to orient them in the learning objectives, curricular components, materials, and methodologies associated with the classes that they will teach Supervise faculty teaching EAP and KEY courses in the Pathway programs by meeting with them regularly to provide feedback, oversight, and assistance Work with the Pathway Program Director on curriculum and materials development for EAP courses Work with the Assistant Director of Global Village to jointly oversee, with the INTO CSU Academic Director and Director of Pathways and English Language Programs, work that connects with the KEY courses that are part of the Pathway program Participate in the coordination of class, student, and teacher scheduling in the various language programs, including General English (GE), Academic English (AE), and Pathways (PW) Participate in the planning and implementation of Orientation Week, including, for PW students, coordinating and overseeing the administration of placement exams, advising and registration, and leading orientation sessions Work closely with the Assistant Director of Academic Advising and INTO CSU Advisors working with PW students and AE-to-PW students to ensure that students are expertly advised and that they fully understand the requirements of their current and future programs of study Endeavor to ensure that instructors of all PW courses provide early academic performance feedback for PW students

Serve on the Pathway Program Team Serve on the Academic Management Team Fulfill a teaching effort of 33% (approximately 264 contact hours) per year by teaching EAP or KEY courses in the Pathway Program in the Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters Be available, as needed, to substitute-teach in EAP and KEY courses Provide back-up advising for PW students, as well as for AE students who either seek or already have achieved direct or conditional admission to CSU Serve as the lead resource teacher for CSU faculty teaching Pathway courses, maintaining and nurturing positive relations across campus Coordinate collaborations between the CSU faculty teaching contentbased Pathway courses and instructors of KEY Seminar and EAP courses in the Pathway Program, including scheduling and leading regular meetings to address concerns of faculty and students Pursue appropriate professional development under the guidance of the INTO CSU Academic Director and Director of Pathways and English Language Programs Work with the INTO CSU Academic Director and the Director of Pathways and English Language Programs to plan and provide for faculty professional development opportunities within INTO CSU and across campus Serve as a role model for others at INTO CSU and externally when representing the Center Other INTO CSU duties as assigned Required Qualifications MA in TESL/TEFL or in English with a concentration in TESL/TEFL, or equivalent degree, including the following graduate level coursework: a. Language teaching methodology b. Structure of English (e.g., syntax, phonology, morphology) c. Second language acquisition d. Practicum experience Fluent or near-fluent English language proficiency Two years of administrative experience in an English language program Minimum of five years of successful language teaching experience Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development

Preferred Qualifications Graduate or undergraduate coursework in intercultural communication and language assessment Experience in teaching both domestic and international students Experience in academic advising and/or tutoring Familiarity with the integration of content and language instruction Demonstrated expertise in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) course development and delivery Familiarity with the use of appropriate current classroom technology Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively Reporting Line Reflecting unit and institutional values, candidates are expected to have the ability to advance the unit s commitment to diversity and inclusion. The Pathway Program Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Pathway and English Language Programs in the INTO CSU Center Job Purpose To promote the academic success of international students in the INTO CSU Center, domestic students participating in the Global Village Living Learning Community, and the successful integration of international students with domestic students and the CSU campus community Position Information Employment Classification: Special Instructor, Academic Faculty.
