FISH MANAGEMENT AND AQUACULTURE MAJOR Of the Recreation and Wildlife Technology Plan for Assessment of Student Academic Achievement 2009-2010 From the Mission of Hocking College Hocking College is an innovative, experience-based technical college that nurtures learning and learner success. Mission of Academic Affairs Unit Nurtures learning and learner success. Mission of School of Natural Resources and Ecological Sciences To prepare individuals for careers as technicians in the natural resources profession. Emphasis is placed on basic theory, developing a sustained positive work ethic, and the practical application of the development of the competencies and outcomes required for entry-level positions in the natural resources industry. Mission of Fish Management and Aquaculture Major To prepare individuals for careers with land, water and resource management agencies, both public and private, in such positions as fish and wildlife conservation aides, fish hatchery technicians, soil conservation service technicians, and private fish culture owner/operator and to provide a background sufficient for growth and advancement in the fish and aquaculture profession. 11. One hundred percent of students who earn the associate degree in the Fish Management and Aquaculture major will pass a fish identification test with a score of 92 percent or above. It consisted of 25 of the most common game fish from Ohio and the central U.S. For the 2009/10reporting period, 43 students passed the fish identification test with a score of 92% or better. This 93.4% success rate fell below the goal of 100%. For the 2008/09 reporting period, 31 students passed the fish identification test with a score of 92% or better.
