Jon & Jan

Dear Birthmother, We are Jon and Jan. We want to thank you for your interest in us and for taking the time to learn more about us. Even though we do not know each other, we have been praying for you and your baby and that the Lord will make the decisions in front of you clear. Here s a few things about us We have 2 pets, Bruce is our dog and Alice is our cat. They have been a big part of our family for the last few years. When Alice runs through the house, we joke and say she sounds like a herd of buffalo and Bruce is our little cuddle bug (he s 50 lbs., so he s not so little). We have been married since 2002. We met when we were in high school and were each other s first boyfriend and girlfriend. We had a long distance relationship until we got married, which meant a lot of phone calls, instant messaging and hearing the words you ve got mail. Since then, Jon finished Bible College and started a home remodeling business. He currently is the song leader for our church and one of the trustees. He has 1 older sister and are you ready for a fun factoid?? they happen to share the exact same birthday, three years apart! Jan has worked for a medical billing company for the last 8 years and recently sat for the Certified Coding Associate exam.and passed! She is currently being trained to code medical charts and will be able to work from home once the training is complete! She is also a Sunday school teacher for ages 4 7. She has 1 younger sister and 1 older brother. We have talked about adopting since the beginning of our marriage and felt that the time would be right when Jan could be a stay-at-home mom. Since she now has the opportunity of working from home, we feel the time is right for us to adopt. Both our moms were stay-at-home moms and we believe this is the path the Lord would have us take. We are very involved with our church and our close family. For the last several years we have acted as counsellors on youth group trips and look forward to the trips every year. Our families and church are all praying for us and they are excited for us to be able to provide a home for our children. Thank you for taking a small glimpse into our lives, we have so much love and happiness to share. I Samuel 3:19 says And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him. Our desire is to raise our child and have the Lord be with them. Sincerely, Jon and Jan

About Us Jon is the younger of two siblings in his family. He has an older sister that is three years older than him. He grew up on several acres of property with woods and a golf course nearby for him to play in. Years later, Jon actually proposed to Jan on the 17th hole of that same golf course. One memory Jon has is that his mom always told him to stay out of the woods because of the poison ivy and every day he d go back home with poison ivy! After he graduated from high school he went to a bible college where he earned his bachelors of divinity. He started working with tile and remodeling bathrooms and kitchens in condos. From there he started residential work and is now currently self-employed doing all home remodeling work. Jan is the middle of three siblings. She has an older brother and a younger sister. She grew up in the suburbs and enjoyed playing putt-putt and riding go carts with her youth group from church. One of her favorite memories was her tenth birthday party with the girls from church. One of her gifts was a pink, water-proof watch that she wore while they all swam!! She also went to many youth rallies with her youth group and here s another fun factoid the same youth rallies that Jan went to as a teenager, Jon was at too with his church! Eventually we met at one of these rallies and started getting to know each other. Jan has held a few administrative positions and decided to go to school for medical coding in 2010. We look forward to the opportunity for Jan to work from home and to be a stay at home mom. About Jan from Jon My wife kind, caring, loving, and helpful. She enjoys children and is able to capture their attention and relate to them. She is a very organized person, hardworking, and she takes such good care of me. She brightens the mood of any room that she walks into. She has so much to offer and she has been looking forward to being able to impart her knowledge and personality to our children. She is my joy, my friend and the only one I want to spend my life with. About Jon from Jan My husband is the most caring and selfless person I know. He is always thinking about how he can help others. He is always thinking of our needs as a family, financially, emotionally and spiritually. He is a hard worker but knows when to have a good time too! Jon is very patient and will make a fantastic father. He will make a great father because of his strength and ability to lead our family. I am so blessed to have him as my husband.

Our Family Jan comes from a close knit family, so close that we ve often joked that we should all live together in one house! (Jan s brother and his wife, 3 sons, mom, dad, sister and her husband and their expected son!!) We love spending time with one another. Our favorite game to play together is spoons and draw something. We love to laugh a lot and have such a good time together. During the summer, we enjoy swimming, camp fires and jumping on the trampoline! Jon comes from a similar family. Jon and his dad worked around the house together when he was growing up. They still enjoy playing a game of golf together. Jon s mom always has a garden project every year for Jon to work on, and they enjoy spending time together that way. Jon s sister and her husband have 3 children, 2 boys and 1 girl. We love spending time together and enjoy any summer activity that we can play together. We also have our church friends which we consider family. The Labor Day picnic is always so much fun with church, we have so much good food and enjoy playing tug-o-war and other fun games. We also enjoy taking the teenagers to some of the youth rallies that we went to as teenagers. Our church is known for the many children that attend. They are all ages and some come from big families. The church has several acres that the children enjoy playing basketball, capture the flag, football and other games they can think of. Everyone is so excited for us to become a family of 3 and will be such a tremendous support system for us. Some of the teenagers at church are already telling us about little gifts they want to give the baby. Jon and Jan...and Jon s dad... a nice day at the park Jon enjoys fooling around with his nephews Jan s parents, sister and brother-in-law Jan s brother and his family at their new home Jan s sister-in-law and friends getting ready to surprise mom at her 60th!

Our Home We bought our home in 2008 and have enjoyed completing some home improvement projects. We have a fenced in yard and two big beautiful maple trees that create lots of shade for the summer time. Our dog is able to play in the backyard chasing lots of squirrels and our cat wishes that she could get outside to the backyard (she is an inside cat)! Our neighborhood is family oriented and has a lot of children. Whenever we take our dog for a walk we get stopped by some of the children out playing because they want to know more about him. Bruce loves the attention! There are several parks nearby with walking trails, swings, and a small creek. There are also some dog parks nearby. Our neighbors look out for one another and that gives the added sense of security because of their caring nature. We have a well rated school system that offers activities and sports. We are about 30 minutes from the countryside and 10 minutes from shopping malls, batting cages, theatres and restaurants.
