Assistant VICE PRESIDENT of STudent Financial Services 1 Management Faculty Positions
THE NEW SCHOOL: A PROGRESSIVE UNIVERSITY IN NEW YORK CITY In 1919, a few great minds imagined a school that would never settle for the status quo, one that would rethink the purpose of higher learning. The New School was the result. Today it is a progressive university housing five extraordinary schools and colleges: Parsons School of Design Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts College of Performing Arts (including Mannes School of Music, the School of Jazz and the School of Drama) The New School for Social Research Schools of Public Engagement (including The Milano School, the School of Media Studies, the Creative Writing program and the Bachelors Program for Adult and Transfer Students) The New School is the only university with a top comprehensive design school nested among a renowned performing arts school, a rigorously relevant liberal arts college and a legendary social research school. It is a place where scholars, artists, and designers find the support they need to unleash their intellect and creativity so that they can courageously challenge convention. We dissolve walls between disciplines to create a community in which journalists collaborate with designers, architects with social researchers, artists with activists. Our academic centers in New York City and Paris offer over 10,000 students more than 135 undergraduate and graduate degree programs uniquely designed to prepare them to make a more just, beautiful, and better-designed world. The New School is the number one most internationally diverse major university in the United States, drawing more than 30% of its undergraduate student body from countries around the world, and our university is home to Parsons Paris, established in 1921 and today offering both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Throughout its history, The New School has remained at the cutting edge of higher education, launching many new degrees that are the first of their kind, teaching design thinking as an approach to solving complex problems long before anyone thought to call it that, and creating interdisciplinary pathways for students to translate their groundbreaking ideas into reality. 2 The New School
