PTHS Forensics Tournament Honors In Congress: Maria Oldenburg: elected presiding officer and placed 2 nd Emily Fornof: placed 4th Stephanie Wang: placed 7th Ben Zeisloft: placed 9 th Public Forum Debate: Sarah holdenburg and Shreya Sharma placed d3d 3rd The Forensics Speech and Debate Club traveled to Erie this month to compete in the tournament at Penn State Behrend. The students and their places in the tournament are list above.
Adopt a Physicist at PTHS Advanced Placement and Honors Physics students at PTHS took part in the program sponsored by Sigma Pi Sigma Advanced Placement and Honors Physics students at PTHS took part in the Adopt A Physicist program sponsored by Sigma Pi Sigma, the physics honor society. Through this process, the students engage in a discussion board format of questions and answers and can explore the benefits of studying physics by connecting with expects who are actively working on everything from particle physics research to scientific freelance writing.
Dia de Los Muertos at PTHS PTHS Spanish Club Celebrates with the help of McMurray Art Teacher Kelly Borra On October 23, the Peters Township High School Spanish Club held a special event to celebrate the Mexican tradition of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Elementary art teacher Kelly Borra was the group s special guest to show the students how to paint the skulls, and soft drinks and snacks were provided by El Campesino Restaurant. The group is sponsored by teacher Caitlin McKenna.
Eating Healthy at Bower Hill Students Celebrate Apple Crunch Day On Friday, October 24th students at Bower Hill participated in Apple Crunch Day, a statewide celebration of healthy snacks. To celebrate, students were encouraged to wear red, yellow or green and parents were asked to send in an apple or another fruit or vegetable for their child s snack that day. The event and an apple snack recipe were also featured on this week s Snack Scene at 3:15 episode.
So, How Are We Doing? State Performance Profiles fl are Released This month the State released the School Performance Profiles a report that details how our schools are doing based on factors that include not only on standardized test scores but many other factors that t signal student tachievement and growth. Our scores are listed above, and we are proud to announce that PTHS ranks 2 nd among area high schools and three of our schools ranked in the top 15 overall in the region. TribLive Lip Dub Contest Show your school spirit and vote today! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmqqwk9okfi Students at PTHS are once again competing in the TribLive Lib Dub contest. This video contest helps to inspire school spirit across our region and the winning video will win $2500 for their school media department. PTHS won this competition two years ago and the community will be voting over the next few weeks. More than 800 students participated in this volunteer venture and the final product was filmed in just two takes!
PTMS Art Show at Peters Township Library The students work will be on display fromnovember 22 through December 3, 2014 Mark your calendar and make plans to join student artists from PTMS in their art exhibit at the Peters Township Public Library. The dates for the display are listed above.

Sportsmanship & Concussion Awareness Workshop Tuesday, November 18, 2014 PT Recreation Center 7:00 8:30 p.m. Speakers will be: Joe Maize Matt Bianco Mark Mortland The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department and teamed up with the The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department and teamed up with the District to sponsor a Sportsmanship & Concussion Awareness Workshop tomorrow evening at the PT Rec Center. Coaches, parents, and players from the Youth Sports Associations and the School District are encouraged to attend.
PIAA State Champs! Congratulations to the High School Boys Soccer Team who earned the title of PIAA Congratulations to the High School Boys Soccer Team who earned the title of PIAA Class AAA Champions on Saturday. Later on in tonight s meeting, we will recognize these student athletes and their coaches.

Costume Madness at PTHS PTHS Costume Contest Raises $620 for Breast Cancer Research Throughout the District, Halloween events brought out everyone s creative side. The High School held their annual staff costume contest to benefit Breast Cancer Research. Morethan $600 was raised and some of the creative costumes are featured above.
NHS, SADD and Interact Club Sponsored the Annual Event that raised more than $1700 for the Washington City Mission Haunted Hallways On October 21, the Peters Township High School National Honor Society, Interact Club and Students Against Destructive Decisions held the annual Haunted Hallways event at Pleasant Valley for young students in our community. The Halloween event featured fun and games and raised more than $1700 for the Washington City Mission the most ever raised by the event!

PSBA Honor Roll Mrs. Sandy Gregg 8 years of service The Pennsylvania School Board Association has recognized Mrs. Sandy Gregg with a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of her eight years of service on the Peters Township Board of School Directors. The PSBA recognizes board members who are making a long term contribution to public education.
Athletic Recognition PIAA AAA State Champions PTHS Boys Soccer Team Tonight we welcome Head Coach Bob Dyer and the Peters Township Boys Soccer team. This weekend, the boys took on the Great Valley Patriots to win the PIAA State Title with a score of 2 1. We congratulate the team for their impressive season and thank them for the pride they bring to our school and this community.
