Offering $500 in direct financial support and up to $1500 for research development and conference presentations, the Graduate Research Fellowship supports high-quality, high-impact research in any field of study. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA In order to be eligible to receive a Graduate Research Fellowship, an applicant must be enrolled as a California State University, Fresno graduate/doctoral student in good standing; have upon application, and maintain throughout the fellowship period, a minimum 3.0 average on the approved graduate program; have advanced to candidacy for the graduate degree (see the Division of Graduate Studies Chart Your Course handbook, available at http://www.fresnostate.edu/academics/ gradstudies/epubs/); have completed courses in research techniques as required by the major department; and have secured a thesis/dissertation or project chair. Students are not eligible for the fellowship if they have been assigned to comprehensive exams as the culminating experience; or have already received their graduate degree. EXPECTATIONS Graduate Research Fellows will be required to attend the Graduate Research Fellowship orientation; complete, within the fellowship period and in consultation with the thesis/project/dissertation committee chair, a significant solo-authored research project; discuss their research progress in monthly cohort meetings; attend Graduate Research Fellowship Professional Development trainings; present preliminary research findings to peers and faculty members at the January cohort meeting; participate in at least one trial conference presentation in preparation for a regional or national conference; and present at a regional or national conference (to be chosen in consultation with the thesis/project/ dissertation chair). Additionally, Graduate Research Fellows will be strongly encouraged to 1

PLEASE NOTE: Support from this fund must be acknowledged in subsequent presentations and/or publications of the work. AMOUNT OF AWARD Graduate Research Fellows will receive a total of up to $2000, to be divided into $500 of direct support and up to $1500 for research development and conference presentation. Awardees who do not complete the required activities above will be required to return the disbursed amount to the Graduate Net Initiative. PLEASE NOTE: The Financial Aid Office may factor a part or the whole amount of this award into awardees total financial aid packages, which may result in the reduction of other awards and/or loans. SELECTION CRITERIA Awardees will be selected by a review committee to include the Graduate Net Initiative s Project Director and other members of the Graduate Net Initiative s Planning Committee and/or University Graduate Committee.
