PYP Teacher - 3 Getting Started
Accessing your Account Signing In After receiving your welcome email and setting your password, you can login to your ManageBac account at your school's preferred address (e.g. http://yourschool.managebac.com). On the login screen, you'll see the following fields: You can login with your email address and the password you've set. If you are unable to login, please click I forgot my password and you'll be able to enter your email address to reset your account. PYP Teacher - 4
Resetting Your Password Note: Sometimes the welcome emails may get stuck in your spam folder, so you'll want to double check there to make sure that you've received it. If your account cannot be found, please check with your IB or CAS Coordinator to make sure that you have been added to the system with the correct e-mail address. PYP Teacher - 5
Updating your Personal Details By clicking your name and via the Profile tab By clicking your name on the top right corner, you can easily update your personal details including your: First & Last Name E-mail address Password Selecting your Default Landing Page, the page you will be guided to after logging in. Under the Profile tab, you can upload a thumbnail photo, and edit your contact details. You will also be able to indicate your programmes and subjects taught, gender, date of birth and school roles. PYP Teacher - 7
Creating Classes Enabling Class Functionality Before you begin to create classes, your account administrator will have to have Enabled Class Functionality under the Settings tab. It is also important that the account administrator has selected the subjects offered at your school under the Settings tab. Creating a Class You can access the link to Add New Class on the right under the Classes tab. Here you can fill in the form to create a class. PYP Teacher - 8
Make sure to select the correct Year/Grade as it cannot be changed after the class has been created. PYP Teacher - 9
Configuring Class Settings Via a Class You can access the Edit Class Settings from the lower right menu of the class tab. You will be able to configure subject level, edit class description, and upload an image for your class group. If class period attendance is enabled, teachers can define their rotation days by indicating the specific dates on which their class falls. PYP Teacher - 10

Recording Homeroom & Class Attendance Via the Classes > Attendance Tab Under the Attendance tab within their class, teachers can mark attendance for the current day by clicking Mark all as: and selecting the appropriate option (e.g. Present, Absent, Late). Attendance information is automatically saved, so teachers can effortlessly mark attendance. Teachers are also able to add comments if a student is marked as anything but Present by clicking on the 'Comment' icon. Teachers can adjust historical attendance by clicking the Calendar icon and selecting the specific date. PYP Teacher - 12
Editing User Information (Names, Gender & D.O.B) Via the Students Tab Click on a user's name to be directed to their profile page. Here you can click Edit to update their first and last name, gender, and date of birth. To edit the student's email address, telephone number, or re-set the student's password, request an account administrator to access the student's profile under the Users tab. PYP Teacher - 13
Navigating through ManageBac Via the Tabs Inquiry - View your Programme of Inquiry for each grade level. Portfolio - Build your students' Portfolios. Gradebook - Access your gradebook to assess tasks. Attendance - Take Attendance for your classes Students - View your students' information and edit their details. Creating a Unit of Inquiry PYP Teacher - 16
Via the Classes > Units tab Under a Year Level, choose the Core class in question. This will bring up the current Units page. To add a new unit, click on the Add Unit button on the right hand menu. If you wish to edit an already existing unit, click on the unit you wish to edit and then click Edit Unit. PYP Teacher - 17
Classes > Units > Purpose & Inquiry First choose a title for your Unit of Inquiry, select the start date and the length of the unit (in weeks), and indicate the subject focus, then click Save Changes. This will create the Unit of Inquiry. PYP Teacher - 18
Next, you will be able to indicate the overall expectations, conceptual understandings and learning outcomes that you plan to address in the Scope & Sequence tab. Note: Science and Social Studies units do not have this tab. PYP Teacher - 19
Under the Inquiry tab, you will be able to address the question of purpose by indicating the Transdisciplinary theme, the specific focus points and the Central Idea. PYP Teacher - 20
Under the Summative Assessment tab, you can view the summative assessment tasks planned and describe how students will be assessed within the Unit of Inquiry. PYP Teacher - 21
Classes > Units > Concepts & Questions Under the Concepts & Questions tab, you will be able to address the question of what we want to learn by indicating the key concepts and justifying how they will be incorporated within the subjects and related concepts. Next, you can define the Lines of Inquiry together with related Teacher Questions. Finally, you can detail provocations. PYP Teacher - 22

Classes > Units > Assessment Under the Assessment tab, you will be able to address the question of how we will know what we have learned by adding formative and summative assessment tasks and describing how they will be linked back to the specific Lines of Inquiry. PYP Teacher - 24
Classes > Units > Learning Experiences Under the Learning Experiences, you will be able to describe the best ways of learning and how the unit will incorporate aspects of the Learner Profile, Attitudes and Transdisciplinary Skills. PYP Teacher - 25
Classes > Units > Resources The Resources tab allows you to add lists, photos, videos and files. PYP Teacher - 26
Classes > Units > Reflection & Evaluation The Reflections & Evaluation tab consists of an evaluation of the Unit s success in addressing the stated purpose, elements of PYP, and student-initiated inquiry. Once you have created your first Unit of Inquiry, you will be able to review all key sections directly online. PYP Teacher - 27
Viewing your Programme of Inquiry Classes > Programme of Inquiry You will be able to view the full Programme of Inquiry by year level. Select the year level and class you wish to view, then select Programme of Inquiry. Four to six Units of Inquiry will be shown in sequence depending on the year level. PYP Teacher - 28
PYP Teacher - 29 Portfolio
Accessing Student Portfolios Via Classes > Portfolios The Portfolio tab allows you to see the Learning Goals, Notes, pieces of Coursework, and Meeting notes for a student. Click on a student name on the left menu to view their portfolio. At the top of each student's portfolio, you will find a Learning Goals section, where new goals can be added and students can tick off goals that they have achieved. Underneath, you can write notes about your students, upload coursework, and write meeting notes. You can also select the Term you wish to view by using the drop-down menu at the top of the page. Teachers, students, and parents are all able to add Notes under the Notes tab. PYP Teacher - 31
Students and Teachers are able to upload Coursework under the Coursework tab. Each piece of coursework can be linked to a Unit or a Subject. PYP Teacher - 32
Teachers are able to write meeting notes about parent/teacher conferences, and indicate which parents were present. PYP Teacher - 33
Adding Portfolio Artifacts Via Classes > Portfolios > Coursework By clicking the Coursework tab, you can easily add a written narrative, photos, videos & files. These will be shared with parents and students, and you can organize them by subject focus. PYP Teacher - 34
Reviewing Student Learning Goals & Reflections Via Classes > Portfolios > Goals & Reflections At the top of each student's Portfolio, students can set their learning goals by clicking Add new Goal, which can be linked back to specific Learner Profile characteristics (e.g. Risk-taker). They can then check these off as they achive each goal. PYP Teacher - 35
Recording a Parent Conference Via Classes > Portfolios > Parent Conferences Under the Meeting tab of the Portfolio, you can record meetings that have been held with parents or student-led conferences. You can indicate the parents in attendance and notes from your meeting. PYP Teacher - 36

Adding a Task/Assignment Via your Class page After clicking on the Inquiry tab and selecting your class on the left menu, you can access the Add Task button on the right menu. PYP Teacher - 38
After clicking Add Task, you can link your task to a specific Unit of Inquiry, enter in the task name and select the assessment type (e.g. summative or formative). You can also select a due date and enable email notification. You can also add and edit new categories of tasks by clicking the Manage Categories button on the right menu. Remember to click Add Task at the bottom of the page to create the task. PYP Teacher - 39
