Organizational profile of the Cooperative Established in 2001, Éducation internationale is a cooperative for services of development and educational exchange, whose goal is to bring together the international activities of the Québec school board network. Cooperative spheres of operation The activities of Éducation internationale are organized within four main spheres of operation and based on the internationalization strategy in Québec education put forth by the ministère de l Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport du Québec: MISSION OF ÉDUCATION INTERNATIONALE To offer and coordinate quality services which unite, support and represent members in their activities for the internationalization of education. The Québec education system international mobility: overseas exchanges involving students, teachers and managers; the development of international business: carrying out projects in international development supported by major international financial backers; the recruitment of foreign students in vocational education; representation before Québec, Canadian and foreign governments as well as international institutions. School Boards in a nutshell The task of school boards in Québec is to organize pre-school, primary and secondary education, vocational training and adult education. School boards see to the application of academic standards, the establishment of courses of study, the implementation of learning assessment and the issuing of diplomas, along with the management of real estate, human and financial resources for the educational institutions on their territories. The school board network comprises 72 boards, 2,500 public schools, 200 vocational training centres, 1,200,000 enrolled students and 170,000 employees. Our international mobility services Éducation internationale offers the following mobility services: Services for advising, training, networking and connecting our members Guidance in the development of international mobility projects. Organization of thematic days and training sessions. Promotion and organization of special projects with foreign countries (reception of foreign delegations, organization of missions, etc.). Development of relations with new organizations or foreign governments. Connection of foreign schools or organizations with the school board network. Tools such as guides, promotional document Organizational guide for training periods overseas, posters for teacher programs, etc. Exchange programs Exchange programs for secondary students* Exchanges for secondary students between Québec and other Canadian provinces (3 months in Canada and 3 months in Québec). Exchanges for secondary students between Québec and Germany (3 months in Germany and 3 months in Québec). Program goals: to improve knowledge of English or German; to promote knowledge of another culture; to get to know another educational system; to develop autonomy. Target clientele: French-speaking secondary students registered in 3rd and 4th years in attendance at a Quebec school and whose language of instruction is French. Key program statistics: about 50 students take part in the exchange program with Germany and some 120 in the exchange program with other parts of Canada. * Student exchange programs with other countries are under development. Exchange programs for primary teachers Québec-France teacher exchanges Québec-Switzerland teacher exchanges Program goals: to enable a teacher to experience one year abroad while still conserving his/her position (the paired French or Swiss teacher exchanges positions with the Québec teacher and carries out their program). Target clientele: permanent primary teachers in Québec with five years or more of experience. Key program statistics: between 10 and 20 teachers per year.

Grant programs* Scholarships for short stay outside Québec for students in vocational education Program goals: to complete part of their fulltime vocational training in the course of a stay abroad from two weeks minimum to six weeks maximum; to develop the competencies and skills of Quebec students for success in an international context. Target clientele: students from Québec vocational training centres enrolled for a DEP or an ASP. Key figures: maximum $1,500 scholarship per student; between 15 and 30 projects underwritten per year; from 3 to 10 students per project. Scholarships for mobile teaching support in vocational education Program goals: to function as an instructor in the context of courses, seminars or workshops offered to students or teachers of vocational training institutions overseas; to develop or acquire practices, techniques or innovative tools in one s area of specialization with a view to enriching one s expertise. Target clientele: instructors from a vocational education centre in Québec. Financing for promotional activities and canvassing of potential backers - PIEQ-Round II Program goal: to promote the value of Québec expertise in the realm of education Target clientele: school boards, member organizations of Éducation internationale, centres and educational institutions in Québec. Key figures: $5,000 average grant per project; 50 projects on average financed per year. Key program statistics: maximum $3,000 scholarships per teacher; minimum stay of two weeks. *Éducation internationale s grant programs are offered according to funds obtained from the ministère de l Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport. Participation in the Québec Network of Schools affiliated with UNESCO By means of an annual competition, the Québec Network makes available to both primary and secondary schools the opportunity of taking part in the creation of a worldwide network and of enjoying access to the activities of this dynamic school network focused on UNESCO principles. Target clientele: pre-school, primary and secondary education institutions. Key figures: ten or so schools which are members of the Québec Network; 8,000 educational institutions spread over 177 countries are members of the Network of Schools affiliated with UNESCO.
