VISA & HEALTH INSURANCE ENTRY & RESIDENCE If you do not have EU/EEA or Swiss nationality you are a "national of a third country" and you will need an entry or residence permit in order to enter or become resident in Austria. Students must inform themselves about entry requirements and are self-responsible for their Visa/Residence Permit process. Please check at the Austrian Embassy in your country if you need extra documents. Important information for U.S. and Canadian exchange students: http://www.austria.org/students-scholars/ Further information on VISA or Residence Permit https://oead.at/en/to-austria/entry-residence-and-employment/ nationals-of-third-countries/#c1177 HEALTH INSURANCE All exchange students at TU Graz have to purchase a public Austrian Health Insurance, called GKK. This insurance is compulsory for all international students, even if they already have other health insurances. IMPORTANT: To get a Student Visa it is required to have a Health Insurance for your whole time abroad, but as long as we will inscribe you at the GKK health insurance when arriving, we sent you a letter to be presented at the Austrian Embassy to wave that request. In this way, you will only need a 3-weeks travel health insurance to cover the time between your arrival and your inscription at GKK Health Insurance. Please, inform yourself about the required travel insurance coverage at the Austrian Embassy in your country.
