Using the esis Gradebook 1) Go to www.neomin.org. From the Student Menu choose Logins > esis Production. The following screen should appear. username:your last name underscore your first initial EXAMPLE username: schmoe_j password: ###### Database: prod 2) Type in your username and password. 3) Click Connect 4) If the following screen appears click Check All and OK. Click Spreadsheet to go into your gradebook and see all of your courses and grades. Click Single to go in and look at a single assignment for quick entry of grades. TCESC Using the esis Gradebook 9/12/07 Page 2

1 2 3 4 1. Click on the name of the class you want to use. This is a pull down menu. 2. Reporting Term: It is critical that you choose the correct term. Your interim period can show up here as IP1. DO NOT enter an assignment in the interim spot. 3. Assignment Types: a. All: See all assignments. b. You can click on a category to view just those assignments in that category. The Avg will be the average for just that category. The Tavg% will be for the Total nine weeks. 4. Add Assessment to add the assignment or assessment that you have graded and are ready to enter for a class. Note: Sometimes this program refers to assignment and other times assessment. Name: Write out a complete name for the assessment. This can be very descriptive. Short Name: Can only use 5 characters including spaces. This is what appears in your gradebook spreadsheet. Score Type: Most teachers will choose Numeric Mark. Score Max: Put the highest score attainable on the assignment. It will default to what you previously set up in the preferences. No blanks or zeroes. Weight: A 1 will keep everything weighted the same. The value determines the impact a mark has on the final grade. You will not have this box if you chose not to weight assessments in the Setup. Strand: Should say All. Do not touch Assessment Type: You must choose something it cannot be blank. You can also group assignments of just one particular type such as homework, tests, quizzes, etc. Dates: Dates can be changed at any time. Assignments appear in the order of due date in your gradebook. All of these dates automatically default to today s date. You can click on the plus(+) to get the calendar to change the date. Assign and Due dates must be school days. You may want to leave all 3 dates the same. Extra Credit: If you check here then this assignment is calculated at the end as a purely extra credit assignment. Even though this is extra credit there must be something typed into the Score Max box. It cannot be zero. Parent Assist Module An extra purchase from NEOMIN. Not available in Trumbull County yet. Post to Parent, Assistant Date, Parent Tips Be sure to SAVE when done by clicking the Floppy disk icon. TCESC Using the esis Gradebook 9/12/07 Page 4

To begin entering grades click the Enter Grade/Comments button. If you want to add this assessment to another class see pg. 7. 1. Check that the Assessment is chosen. 2. Enter first grade. You must use the down arrow key to enter each grade. The Enter key moves you across the screen. 3. If all the grades are the same, click on the grade and choose Copy First Mark Down. 4. Late: Can click this if assignment is late. This will not appear on the report card but will print on individual progress report and be seen by parents with the parent module. 5. Exempt: Click here to exempt an individual student on that assignment. This will not appear on the report card but will print on individual progress report and be seen by parents with the parent module. 6. Missing marks: Click this to see all the students that are missing an assignment and you can quickly enter their grades. 7. Grade Comments These will appear on individual progress reports or in parent module. a. Type here or b. Click Edit Comment, select the comment. TCESC Using the esis Gradebook 9/12/07 Page 5

The Gradebook Spreadsheet: You can enter scores here. Type in each student s points here. Use the down arrow key to enter the next score. TAVG% The students total average. It is the total average for the chosen Reporting Term. Total: Total Points Possible Earned: Total Points earned Avg%: Most of the time this will be the same as TAVG%. If I pick an Assessment Type like homework then my Avg% will be for just Homework but my Total will be for the entire course. Grade Entry: Click in the Assessment column and type in the points. Enter Mark/Comments: Click here to get to the entry screen where you can enter both grades and comments. Be sure to click the assessment or there will be no students listed. Save You may not see a change in the averages until you save. Click the Printer Icon to get a snapshot of your current gradebook. It will open in Adobe Acrobat Reader. This will not work if pop ups are blocked in your Internet browser. Display student Names? o Click the box to print with your student names listed. o Do NOT click the box and it will print with student ID s to use for posting. Add an assessment to other class(es) Click Add an assessment and create your assessment Click Save and then click Be sure that the class containing the assessment is checked. Do Not check anything else. You MUST have a reporting term selected. Click Copy Selected Info to All Button. Uncheck the classes that you do not want to get this assessment. Click Save and Exit. Changing Assignments From the gradebook spreadsheet click View/Change Assessment at the bottom of the screen. To delete an assignment click on it and choose Remove this Assessment from Class. You can also change the name of the assignment, point value, weight, etc. by clicking Change Assessment. TCESC Using the esis Gradebook 9/12/07 Page 8

Printing your Spreadsheet with your students grades 1. From the Main screen select Spreadsheet 2. Select your Class and Reporting Term. In the bottom right corner you will see a printer icon. Use this on any screen when you want to print the contents of that screen. It will open in Adobe Acrobat Reader. This will not work if pop ups are blocked in your Internet browser. 3. Click select student name if you want the names to appear. If you want it to appear by student ID leave the box blank. 4. Click on the printer. TCESC Using the esis Gradebook 9/12/07 Page 9

Printing Reports from the main Screen of the Teacher Assist Module 1. Click the Reports Button. 2. Select the type of report. Note: Some of the reports may not work at this time. 3. Make the appropriate choices for what you want to see in your report. 4. It opens in Adobe Acrobat Reader which allows you to Save, print, or email it as an attachment. Progress Report Hints Select Students: Click multiple to print a progress report for every student in the course. Pull down to select one specific student. Message to parent: If you choose multiple the same message will appear on ALL progress reports. To print reports of how your students have performed on standardized tests. Click Decision Management. Click Stand Testing by Class or Homeroom. Choose your class. Choose the test that you would like to see results for.
