Number of Admitted Students An appropriate number of students will be offered to each academic department or major taking into account the educational environments and academic characteristics of the respective department/major. 6
4. Eligibility and Qualifications I. Eligibility for Undergraduate Freshman Application International applicants must meet ALL of the following requirements (dual nationals may not apply):. A non-korean national whose parents are BOTH non-korean nationals. A Taiwanese applicant with one parent of Taiwanese nationality is classified as an international student for application purpose. Anyone who has acquired foreign citizenship by changing his/her nationality is not eligible. A Korean citizen who holds dual citizenships is not considered foreigners.. A student who: has completed, or is expected to complete by February 8, 04, at least years of formal education; or has completed the entire course of education recognized by Korea s Minister of Education, Science & Technology to be equivalent to high school education. Graduates of Japanese high schools may apply for the Spring semester if they are expected to graduate from their schools by March 3, 04. [Note] ) When counting the secondary education period, the Korean academic system applies. In a non- Korean education system, Year (Grade) through Year 6 will be considered primary (elementary school) education; Year 7 through Year 9, middle/junior high school; and Year 0 through Year, high school. ) For applicants who are from a country in which the total length of the primary and secondary education period is less than years, they will be considered to have the qualifications equivalent to a Korean high school diploma if the Minister of Education, Science and Technology of Korea recognizes that the country s primary and secondary education is equivalent to the - year primary and secondary education system in Korea and they have completed both primary and secondary education in the country. However, whether an applicant can be considered a high school graduate will be determined taking into account how each country-specific academic system and periods compares with the Korean high school education system. 3. A non-korean national who satisfies at least ONE of the qualification requirements regarding language proficiency specified below: ) The applicant who has passed Level 3 or higher of the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) administered by the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation; ) The applicant who has completed Korean language course of level 4 or higher at the Center of International Education of Sejong University, and has a letter of recommendation by its dean. If the sponsor is not a parent of the applicant, the certificate issued by the country s government proving the relation of the sponsor to the applicant should be submitted. III. Eligibility for Undergraduate Transfer Application International applicants must meet ALL of the following requirements (dual nationals may not apply):. Graduates of Japanese high schools may apply if expected to graduate by March 3, 04. The number of credits awarded to each course should be indicated in the transcript. 3. 5. Admissions Evaluation Criteria Admissions decisions are made taking into consideration the candidate s academic achievements and activities, and academic records in the major based on the study plan and other achievement records and specific qualifications, such as language proficiency. Interviews, auditions, and/or additional documents may be required as dictated by the policy of the individual college or department, and the individual college or department will contact the applicant if required.
6. Submitting Your Application Application Form. The standard method for submitting the application is via the notice (typically a banner) on the Sejong University website. The application fee should be paid online as well. It is only compatible with 5.0 or higher version of Internet Explorer.. For the 04 Spring Semester, the deadline for online application is Friday 7:00 PM (Korea local time), Dec. 6, 03. All relevant information must be entered and the application fee paid in full, prior to this time. Applicants who fail to apply online due to unforeseen circumstances must apply in person or by post at the Center for International Students and Scholars (CISS) by Friday 7:00 PM (Korea local time), Dec. 6, 03. 3. The application fee must be paid online at the stage of application. Follow the instructions to type in all the required information for each step of the application process. We strongly recommend that you do not wait until the deadline day to complete your application as server traffic may cause technical difficulties in completing your application successfully. Please complete the application well in advance of the deadline. For details, please refer to the Online Application Guide on the Sejong homepage. Submission of Required Documents. After completing your online application, print out the completed Application and the Application Checklist.. 7. Important Notes for All Applicants. All documents MUST be in English or Korean. Documents in other languages MUST be accompanied by a notarized English or Korean translation.. If any of the submitted materials contains false information, admission will be rescinded. 3. All documents must be original unless specified otherwise. If the original is not available and a copy is being submitted, it must be certified by the originating institution before it is submitted. 4. Be sure to keep copies of all documents. Any and all submitted documents become the property of Sejong University and will not be returned to the applicants. The application fee is also nonrefundable. 5. Admitted students may not defer their enrollment to a later semester. Students who wish to defer enrollment must re-apply. 6. Be sure to understand that the University issues only the Certificate of Admissions for the application of a student visa (Type: D) for the admitted students. 7. The Verification of Academic Record form should be submitted as part of the application. 8. A detailed account of any individual admissions decision will not be disclosed. 9. In the event of an expected graduate of the current year fails to graduate prior to the beginning of his/her scheduled entrance, he/she will have his/her admission status cancelled.. Any applicant who has been admitted to two or more colleges/universities shall select one prior to registration. Any applicant who enrolls at two or more different colleges/universities will not be admitted.. In the event that a non-korean national who does not reside in Korea is admitted to Sejong University but his/her application for a student visa (D-) is rejected by the Ministry of Justice, the offer of admission will be withdrawn. 3. 8. Tuition and Other Fees Application Fee (Provisional). Application fee: 50,000 won The application fee is non-refundable. Online application will require payment of online service fee of 8,000 won (provisional) in addition to the application fee.. Withdrawal of Application and Refund of Application Fee ) In the interest of fairness in the admissions process, applicants are not allowed to withdraw their application once the application is complete (once the application fee is paid). In principle, the application fee is not refundable unless any of SU s acceptable reasons for a refund is satisfied. ) Acceptable reasons for a refund: Any reason that is not attributable to the applicant or outside the applicant s control, including a natural disaster, the applicant s hospitalization or injury from an accident and SU s mistake, is considered acceptable. In such a case, the applicant must submit proof document(s) showing that he/she has no choice but to withdraw the application for one of the acceptable reasons. Scholarships (Provisional) Eligibility Benefits Requirement Scholarship Program for Non-Korean Nationals Full A non-korean national student whose parents are both non-korean nationals AND satisfies one of the following English test score requirements: TOEFL scores 00 (IBT) / 50 (CBT) / 600 (PBT) or higher; or, IELTS score 6.5 (Academic Module) or higher; Official score report for the test taken within two () years of the application due date. 00% of the tuition fees for up to eight (8) semesters The scholarship will be awarded every semester contingent upon the achievement of 3.5 or higher GPA in the immediately preceding semester. Parti -al A non-korean national student whose parents are both non-korean nationals and who are ranked within top 90% of the students finally registered in admissions evaluation. 60% of the tuition fee 40% of the tuition fee GPA 3.0 or higher GPA.5 or higher and less than 3.0 Full scholarship recipients - The recipients will be awarded a full scholarship, which includes both the tuition and entrance fees. - The award of the full scholarship will be withdrawn if the recipient s GPA falls below 3.5. - The recipient who is no longer eligible for a full scholarship may become eligible for a partial scholarship depending on his/her GPA. Partial scholarship recipients - In the first semester, among the enrolled students, those of who scored in the top 90% in the evaluation for admission will receive entrance fee and 60% of the tuition fee. - The scholarship decisions will be made every semester based on the GPA of the immediately preceding semester. Scholarship Reception - Scholarship will be provided in the form of refund after the student enrolls and pays for the full tuition. 7
