First Day Arrival Groups will be met by a British International School Group Assistant at the airport and transported to their accommodations for their welcome meeting. Sight-Seeing The first day also includes a tour of some of London s most popular areas: Piccadilly Circus, Regent Street, Carnaby Street and Oxford Street. British International School Page 2
Classes General English The BIS offers English classes for all levels of English language skills from beginner to proficient. Students spend their mornings in class and then put their new English skills to use during their afternoon and evening activities. Exam Preparation Courses This programme will familiarise students with the format of the Cambridge, Trinity or IELTS exams cover important techniques students need to learn in order to be successful. The Trinity test can also be taken at our Chiswick School, which is a registered test centre. CLIL Students also have the option of taking CLIL (content and language integrated learning) courses. CLIL courses are custom-tailored to the students needs and are taught entirely in English. Subjects include Geography, History, Economics and Science. Page 3
Integration School Integration Students have the opportunity to replace a morning of normal lessons with an integration programme at a local British school. Students will attend classes in English with native-speaking students and experience a real British school first-hand. They will improve their English and build connections interacting with students in and out of the classroom. Students in the integration programme will also wear a school uniform, just like all the other students. British International School Page 4
Theatre Workshop Theatre Workshop In the workshop, students will get to read and act out some of Shakepseare s plays themselves while learning about Shakespeare and his time period. Visiting Shakepspeare s Globe Theatre Students have the opportunity to replace a morning of normal lessons with a theatre workshop and a guided tour of Shakespeare s Globe Theatre, a recreation of the theatre where Shakespeare s plays were first performed. Half-Day Tours The BIS offers the opportunity for students to particpate in half-day tours led by Blue Badge qualified, native-english-speaking guides. With their mother-tongue guide, students will get a real understanding of the history of some of London s most famous sites. Royal Westminister Tour Buckingham Palace (outside only), St. James s Park, Westminster Abbey (outside only), Big Ben, 10 Downing Street and Trafalgar Square.
