In additin, the applicant must me et ne f the fllwing criteria: 1. Pssess a lcal r Regent s high schl diplma (an I.E.P. [Individual Educatin Plan] certificate f cmpletin is nt a recgnized diplma) 2. Pssess a high schl equivalency diplma (GED) 3. Be admitted under the Early Admissins Prgram (see Early Admissins Prgram) 4. Be admitted thrugh the New Yrk State 24 Credit GED Prgram (see 24 Credit Hur GED Prgram) Prspective students are nt required by the cllege t submit standardized test s cres such as SAT r ACT. Matriculatin A matriculated student is ne wh has been frmally admitted t the cllege, has registered in a curriculum r designated prgram and is pursuing curses tward a degree r certificate. A matriculated student may be full - r part-time, and may take day r evening curses depending n curse fferings and persnal preference. In rder t be matriculated at the cllege the student must meet the fllwing cnditins: 1. Pssess a Regent s High Schl diplma (an IEP diplma is nt acceptable as prf f high schl graduatin). r 2. Pssess a GED (General Equivalency Diplma) and 3. Be frmally admitted and pursuing curses leading t a degree r certificate.

Nn-Matriculatin A nn-matriculated student is ne wh submits an applicatin and enrlls in classes withut the intentin f earning a degree r certificate. When T Apply Westchester Cmmunity Cllege accepts applicatins fr admissin n a rlling basis. Fr Fall Admissin (September) Applicants fr fall admissin are encuraged t cmplete admissins prcedures prir t May 1. This enables the cllege t prcess applicatins and ntify applicants f admissins decisins n a timely basis. Fr Spring Admissin (January) Applicants fr spring admissin are encuraged t cmplete admissins prcedures by December 1 r as early as pssible befre the start f the spring semester. This enables the cllege t prcess applicatins and ntify applicants f admissins decisins n a timely basis. Fr Summer Admissin Applicants are encuraged t cmplete admissin prcedures in early April r as sn as pssible befre the start f the summer sessins t facilitate registratin in apprpriate curses. Applicatin Prcedures 1. Obtain an applicatin frm the high schl guidance ffice, request ne frm the Office f Admissins, Westchester Cmmunity Cllege, Valhalla, New Yrk 10595-1698, 914-606-6735, r dwnlad ne frm the cllege web site. 2. Submit the Applicatin fr Admissin and fficial high schl transcripts r GED results, as well as any cllege-level transcripts, t the Office f Admissins, Westchester Cmmunity Cllege, Valhalla, New Yrk 10595-1698. 3. Students wh have taken standardized tests such as the American Cllege Test (ACT) r the Schlastic Aptitude Test (SAT) are encuraged t submit results. Hwever, these exams are nt a requirement fr admissin. Thse wh plan t transfer t a fur-year cllege r university shuld give attentin t such examinatins where necessary. 4. All credentials presented fr admissin t Westchester Cmmunity Cllege will becme the prperty f the cllege and may nt be returned t the applicant. Certificate f Residence All applicants wh have nt resided in Westchester Cunty fr six mnths prir t attendance but wh are New Yrk State residents must supply a Certificate r Residence frm the Chief Fiscal Officer f their cunty f residence. A signed Certificate f Residence is valid fr ne year, frm September thrugh Augu st. Failure t submit this dcument will result in a nn-resident tuitin charge. Immunizatin Requirements The New Yrk State Public Health Law mandates:

All students, regardless f age, registering fr 6 r mre credit hurs, must read the Meningcccal Meningitis fact sheet and sign the respnse frm indicating whether r nt the meningitis vaccine was received. (Parents r legal guardians must sign the m eningitis respnse frm fr students under the age f 18) All students brn n r after January 1, 1957, registering fr 6 r mre credit hurs, prvide prf f meeting the Measles, Mumps and Rubella vaccinatin requirements. The requirements are as fll ws: Measles: Tw injectins n r after January 1, 1968 (at least 30 days apart), administered n r after the student s first birthday. Immunizatins administered prir t 1968 are acceptable if there is prf that a live vaccine was administered. Or prvide the date f the physician dcumented disease Or prvide prf f a psitive immune titer. Mumps: One injectin n r after January 1, 1969 administered after the student s first birthday Or prvide the date f the physician dcumented disease Or prvide prf f a psitive immune titer Rubella: One injectin n r after January 1, 1969 administered after the student s first birthday Or prvide prf f a psitive immune titer (Prf f disease is nt acceptable) Students must fill ut Part I f the Westchester Cmmunity Cllege Immunizatin Recrd Frm and Healthcare Prviders must cmplete and sign Part II. Physician, clinic, hspital and schl recrds can als be submitted in place f Part II. All prf f immunizatin cmpliance must be presented at r prir t registratin. Any questins regarding immunizatins can be directed t the Health Office at 914-606-6610. Acceptance t the Cllege Applicatins are acted upn as they are received, and ntificatin f acceptance is sent as sn thereafter as pssible. Ntificatin fr selective prgrams will be sent as sn after the applicatin deadline as pssible. In rder t ensure that every student has the greatest chance fr academic success, Westchester Cmmunity Cllege has a mandatry placement testing plicy. The placement examinatin is a series f shrt placement tests used t assess students cmpetency levels in English, reading, and mathematics. The results are used t prvide infrmatin t students and their cunselrs as they wrk tgether t develp an apprpriate prgram fr study. Placement Testing Upn admissin t Westchester Cmmunity Cllege, all matriculated students are required t take the Placement Examinatin prir t registering in any curses. Students wh can demnstrate prf f cmpletin f cllege -level math r writing curses with a grade f C r better frm a reginally accredited cllege r university are exempt frm placement testing.

All nn-matriculated students wh plan t enrll in an English, math r reading curse must take the Placement Exam. After acceptance and placement testing, all students are required t schedule an appintment with a cunselr fr identificatin f vcatinal and educatinal gals, curse selectin, and registratin. Fr mre infrmatin abut Placement Testing, please visit www.sunywcc.edu/testingcenter. Acceptance t the cllege des nt necessarily carry with it the right t enrll in the curses r curricula f yur chice unless yur high schl backgrund and placement test results fulfill the required educatinal prerequisite requirements. Enrllment in curses is n a first-cme, first-serve basis; s early registratin is highly recmmended. Accrdingly, students may be required t take basic preparatry curses, r cncurrent crequisite curses, t make up deficiencies. A student may be accepted int a curriculum ther than the ne fr which he/she riginally applied. Curses are available n a space-available basis nly. Therefre, students are urged t take advantage f early registratin t ensure enrllment in the desired curses. Admissin with Advanced Standing A candidate fr admissin wh has attended anther institutin f higher learning is required t fllw the applicatin prcedures as utlined under General Requirements fr Admissin. In additin, fficial transcripts f all f the student s previus cllege recrds must be frwarded t the Admissins Office. Up t 32 transfer r examinatin based credits may be used tward the Westchester Cmmunity Cllege Assciate degree. Fr the Certificate prgrams, up t ne half f the credits required may be transfer r examinatin based credits. Curses transferred as specific curses (nt electives) must be determined t be the equivalent f the Westchester Cmmunity Cllege curses they will replace. Within the requirements fr the varius curricula, there may be specific curses that must be taken at Westchester Cmmunity Cllege. The pst secndary institutins frm which credits are received must be reginally accredited at the time the curses were taken. Transfer f internatinal credits is at the discretin f the cllege. Internatinal credits must be evaluated by an utside accrediting agency prir t submissin. Any curse deemed equivalent t a cllege-level curse at Westchester Cmmunity Cllege in which the student has received a grade f C (i.e., 2.0) r better will be accepted fr transfer credit. Curses in which grades f P (Pass) and S (Satisfactry) will als be accepted fr transfer credit, prvided the standard fr achieving thse grades is 2.0 r better. In sme curricula, arrangements have been made with certain high schls and ther educatinal institutins fr cnsideratin f advanced standing f wrk cmpleted at thse schls. Credits may als be granted thrugh Advanced Placement Examinatins (AP), the Cllege Level Examinatin Prgram (CLEP) and the Cllege Prficiency Examinatin Prgram (CPEP) administered by the Regents Cllege Examinatins (RCE). Thrugh these prgrams, a student may successfully cmplete examinatins in a variety f subject areas and can be granted cllege credit. Als, limited credit may be granted fr educatinal curses r training in the Armed Services. Credit fr Studies Cmpleted while Serving in the Military Students wh have engaged in a curse f study while serving in the military may be eligible t receive cllege credit at Westchester Cmmunity Cllege. Criteria: The cursewrk cmpleted in the military must be applicable t the prgram f study (degree) in which the student wishes t enrll (r is enrlled) at Westchester Cmmunity Cllege. Students must submit the fllwing dcuments t the Transcript Evaluatr in the Admissins Office:

AARTS 1 transcript, r a SMART 2, r a CCAF 3 transcript AND An ACE 4 recmmendatin/transcript Or The DD214 (fr Physical Educatin transfer credit) Students may earn: Generic credit identified by discipline r type f degree requirement Or Credit fr a specific, parallel curse Transfer credit may fulfill Cre, Prgram r Elective requirements 1 AARTS - Army/American Cuncil n Educatin Registry Transcript System 2 SMARTS - Sailr/Marine American Cuncil f Educatin Registry Transcript System 3 CCAF - Cmmunity Cllege f the Air Frce 4 ACE American Cuncil n Educatin Early Admissins Prgram Certain high schl students may benefit either educatinally r vcatinally frm beginning clleg e study in individual curses r in a selected cllege curriculum earlier than the traditinal cllege entry date. Such students may seek admissin either n a full-time r part-time basis under the Early Admissins Prgram. The Early Admissin prgram allws qualified students t take classes at Westchester Cmmunity Cllege while cncurrently cmpleting high schl classes. Once yu have cmpleted the placement test, yur file will be reviewed and a decisin will be made regarding yur admissin. The placement test must be cmpleted in bth Mathematics and English even if yu have n plans t take classes in these subject areas. 1. Applicants must successfully cmplete the high schl curriculum thrugh the eleventh grade with a B (80 ut f 100) r better. 2. Submit a cpy f the mst recent transcript. 3. Applicants must submit a letter f permissin and recmmendatin frm their high schl principal r guidance cunselr. 4. Applicants must fllw the regular applicatin prcedures utlined abve fr entering freshmen (including Placement Testing). 5. Applicants may be requested t submit a persnal essay r schedule an admissins interview t explain their interest in the Early Admissin Prgram. Early Admissin applicatins will be reviewed by the Directr f Admissins. Cnsideratin fr admissin will be given n an individual basis. Please nte: Prspective students wh are nt high schl graduates and whse scheduled graduatin date has nt yet passed are nt eligible t receive Title IV (federal) Financial Aid.

Hme Schled Students Hme Schled students must btain a letter frm their lcal schl district fficials cnfirming that they have cmpleted a prgram f study that is substantially equivalent t instructin given t students graduating high schl in the public schls. Applicants must fllw the regular applicatin prcedures fr entering freshmen (including Placement Testing). 24 Credit Hur GED Prgram New Yrk State Department f Educatin spnsrs a 24 Credit Hur GED prgram that is designed fr peple wh want t earn their GED while cncurrently earning cllege credits. T be eligible fr this prgram: 1. Yu must be at least 17 years f age. 2. Yur high schl class must have already graduated. 3. Yu must currently be a resident f New Yrk State, and have been fr at least ne mnth. 4. Yu must take the apprpriate Westchester Cmmunity Cllege Placement Tests and meet the minimum scres fr admissin. Westchester Cmmunity Cllege des nt grant the New Yrk State High Schl Equivalency Diplma. We ffer the curses necessary t apply fr the diplma thrugh the New Yrk State Educatin Department. The High Schl Equivalency Prgram f the New Yrk State Educatin Department has established the fllwing guidelines fr granting an equivalency diplma based n earned credit: A student wh has nt earned a high schl diplma may be issued a New Yrk State High Schl Equivalency Diplma (GED) upn successful cmpletin f the required 24 cllege-level credits as a recgnized candidate fr a cllege level degree r certificate frm Westchester Cmmunity Cllege. A nn high schl grad (nn GED recipient) student may be cnsidered by the cllege as a recgnized candidate fr a degree r certificate nly fr the purpse f attaining the equivalency diplma certificatin. Westchester Cmmunity Cllege will cnsider an applicatin fr admissin frm students wh d nt have a high schl diplma r equivalency, prvided that they meet all f the fllwing minimum criteria: 1. The student s high schl class must have graduated. 2. The student must cntact the Admissins Office fr infrmatin and t determine eligibility fr the prgram. 3. The student must take the placement test t determine Ability t Benefit. 4. If admitted, the student must enrll in the required cursewrk fllwing placement testing. A persnal interview with an academic advisr, and submissin f supprtive dcumentatin may be requested by the cllege. Once enrlled, students must cmplete 24 credits within the fllwing curse distributin: 6 credits in English language arts 3 credits in mathematics 3 credits in natural science 3 credits f scial science 3 credits in humanities 6 credits in career and technical educatin r freign languages. Upn cmpletin f the 24 credits, students must submit required applicatin frms and fficial transcripts t the New Yrk State Educatin Department fr certificatin and awarding f the GED.

Health Prfessins Admissin All students accepted int any health prgram will be required t cmplete a physical examinatin befre they will be allwed t take clinical curses. Prfessinal Nursing, Practical Nursing, Radilgic Technlgy and Respiratry Care Admissin Applicants fr the Assciate Degree in Nursing (RN), Assciate Degree in Radilgic Technlgy, Assciate Degree in Respiratry Care r the Practical Nursing Certificate (PN), must cmplete all requirements and submit all necessary supprting dcuments t the Office f Admissins, Westchester Cmmunity Cllege, Valhalla, New Yrk 10595-1698. While applicants are encuraged t apply as sn as pssible, please nte, these special prgrams have special applicatin deadline dates which can be fund within their fficial prgram descriptins fund in this Catalg. Applicatins received after the deadline will be cnsidered nly n a space available basis. These prgrams have limited capacity and are f a selective nature. Radilgic Technlgy* Current general requirements t be cnsidered fr Radilgic Technlgy include a high schl diplma (GED accepted) with tw years f high schl science, (including bilgy), and tw years f high schl mathematics t include algebra. Respiratry Care* Current general requirements fr Respiratry Care are a high schl diplma (GED accepted). Tw years f high schl science (bilgy and chemistry), and ne year f high schl algebra are strngly recmmended. *Prgrams may be limited gegraphically. Admissin f Veterans Westchester Cmmunity Cllege is fully recgnized under State and Federal laws that prvide fr educatinal benefits t veterans. A Veterans Affairs cunselr is available t assist yu in btaining yur educatinal benefits, as well as t prvide vcatinal/educatinal cunseling, infrmatin abut veteran s benefits, and assistance in cmpleting required frms. Admissin as an Internatinal Student (F-1) Any applicant wh is nt a citizen, r a dcumented permanent resident f the U.S. and wh wishes t study at the cllege n a full-time basis, may apply fr an F-1 (student) visa. Such a student is cnsidered an internatinal student thrughut their academic stay. Students n F-1 visas must be admitted t the cllege n a full-time matriculated basis (see Matriculatin). Students already in the United States can be evaluated by the Westchester Cmmunity Cllege English Language Institute in place f the

TOEFL. Yu must als have cmpleted all pre-requisite curses. Admissins Applicatins must be received by February15th.
