Welcome to the Platinum ICT SIMS training brochure, for the Summer and Autumn Terms in 2015. The following pages provide course objectives, pre-requisites and outlines of courses listed in the training calendar 2015. Platinum ICT specialise in IT Solutions, servicing schools in the London Borough of Hounslow, with over 10 years experience within education. Having supported SIMS, the Platinum ICT Team possesses an in depth insight into the support and training needs of schools. Introduction to SIMS.net for New Users New users of SIMS.net and have the responsibility for maintaining core pupil data. This is also a great refresher course for existing users of SIMS.net. To be able to search for, edit and maintain existing pupil information To be able to use links to other data areas, i.e. Attendance, Assessment etc. To be able to run, edit & Create basic reports Understanding where data for Statutory Data Collections are located in SIMS.net Matching processes in the School Calendar to SIMS.net Adding/Updating pupil information Adding/Updating contact information Using the Links panel to view other data areas, i.e., SEN, Attendance, Assessment Adding/Updating SEN information Creating and dealing with CTF Running & editing existing reports Attendance reports 1 Day Free of charge for supported schools 7

Managing Key Stage Returns in SIMS.net For SIMS Users Staff who have the responsibility for producing the returns for Early Years Foundation stage, Key Stage One, Key Stage Two and Phonics To be able to import the key stage wizards To be able to produce reports on School s Performance To be able to produce summary reports for parents To be able upload data on the Secure Site Importing the different key stage wizards Running the wizards Entering and amending data Calculation of the whole school data Report production Data exporting ½ Day 80 for SIMS Supported Schools 8

Managing Key Stage Returns in SIMS.net For Schools using Target Tracker/Pupil Asset Staff who have the responsibility for producing the returns for Early Years Foundation stage, Key Stage One, Key Stage Two and Phonics To be able to import the key stage wizards To be able to import assessment data from Target Tracker/Pupil Asset To be able to produce reports on School s Performance To be able to produce summary reports for parents To be able upload data on the Secure Site Importing the different key stage wizards Running the wizards Entering and amending data Calculation of the whole school data Report production Data exporting ½ Day 80 for SIMS Supported Schools 9

Preparing for End of Year and Pre-Admissions in SIMS.net Staff who have the responsibility for the administration of pupils records and the promotion of the school to the next academic year. Create a new academic year and promote the school into the new academic year Record leavers Create admission groups and assign new pupils to the groups Before the end of the current Academic Year Creating the new academic year Amending/updating the pastoral structure Setting up and entering pre-admission data Entering leavers details for the school s oldest group Setting up next year s classes i.e. registration groups for teachers and pupils Promoting the school into the new academic year (moving pupils data up) Printing class lists for next Academic Year. At the start of the new Academic Year Deleting non arrivals and admitting pre-admission group Managing new/casual admissions Managing unexpected leavers Housekeeping and other tasks Knowledge required Working knowledge of SIMS core would be beneficial 1 Day 160 for SIMS Supported Schools 10

SIMS.net Reporting Beginners Users wishing to produce Basic Reports from SIMS.net and for those responsible for adding and maintaining data in the database Be able to extract useful information from Pupil database in a variety formats Be able to edit existing reports Be able to create new reports in a variety of output format This course is ideal for new users and users that have not had any formal reporting training. This course consists of: Managing Reports Running reports Creating new reports Knowledge required Working knowledge of SIMS core would be beneficial and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office packages e.g. Word, Excel ½ Day 80 for SIMS Supported Schools 11

SIMS.net Reporting Further Reporting Users wishing to further expand their knowledge of reports in SIMS.net Be able to extract useful information from Pupil database in a variety formats Be able to edit existing reports Be able to create reports from new and use different output format This course is ideal for new users and users that have not had any formal reporting training. This course consists of: Working with filters Producing complicated lists Understanding sub reports Using different outputs How to format SIMS reports in Excel Knowledge required Knowledge of SIMS.net and reporting. It is recommended that SIMS.net Beginner s course is completed before attending this course. Delegates must have a reasonable level of competency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel ½ Day 80 for SIMS Supported Schools 12

Managing Intervention and Pupil Premium Funding - Workshop This course is suitable for SEND Co-ordinators or staff responsible for analysing the impact of Intervention and preparing pupil premium reporting, Workshop Outline Examples of presenting analysis for pupil premium in terms of how funding allocations and the impact on achievement A look at managing interventions within the new assessment framework Preparing an individual cost provision map when making an application for top-up funding. Demonstration of a tool for provision mapping, including intervention timetables and impact analysis report. Preparing for Ofsted Workshop Senior Leadership staff with responsibility over the provision of data to Ofsted.
