Johnson County Community College Transfer Program to the University of Kansas College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Bachelor of General Studies Degree Completion Program 2016-2017 Catalog Contact: Samantha Montague Phone: 785-864-6876 Email: thecollegeonline@ku.edu Home Page: thecollegeonline.ku.edu The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences: KU s largest academic unit with 53 departments and programs. 120 credit hours of applicable degree credit required for this degree 45 hours of upper-level (300+) courses must be taken, 30 of which must be taken in residence at KU Admission Requirements: 40 or more transfer credit hours, 2.00 GPA in all coursework completed for Kansas residents, 2.5 for non-residents 2.0 minimum GPA in KU Coursework is required for graduation The cost per credit hour for this program is a flat $359/hour with all courses being taken on-line Students will complete coursework in three different areas: 1. World Cultures or Language a. Fulfilled by either 3 courses (9 hours) in World Culture coursework beyond the KU Core, or 2 courses (3 hours or more each) of a world language, or second semester proficiency in a world language 2. Natural Science & Mathematics a. Fulfilled by 2 courses in Natural Science or Math beyond the KU Core 3. Breadth in Liberal Arts & Sciences a. Completion of coursework from 15 different departments within the CLAS Pass/Fail Policy: Allowed for courses not in the major or minor. Not allowed for courses listed in the KU catalog under requirements for the Major: for each specific major. Students should be aware that some scholarship committees and honorary societies do not accept this grading system and convert grades of No Credit to F when computing grade point averages. Transfer Grades of D : Not accepted toward any degree in the College of Arts and Sciences. The typical student for this program will have completed an Associates degree, or a minimum of 63 transfer hours in order to matriculate through the program and graduate as efficiently as possible. However, students with less than 63 transfer hours are encouraged to consult with an academic advisor for the College to plan a path toward admission. NOTE: Classes may count for a major requirement and a core requirement but may NOT count for 2 different core requirements. It is the STUDENT S RESPONSIBILITY to check for updates to all transfer information. This transfer program is provided as a service and is updated annually.
