Introduction to SICA SICA is a system that works since 2002 and today is part of the daily life of all Andalusian researchers SICA serves more than 30.000 researchers, who trust on the information stored in SICA. SICA has a regional dimension. SICA does not belong to any particular entity in Andalusia, and it is a key tool for the definition of regional research policies. New environments are being defined: Knowledge transfer, Andalusian Science legislation, Framework programmes... SICA has to answer new challenges
What is SICA? SICA is a curriculum recording system of the activities of all the individual and collective knowledge agents in Andalusia, with two additional conditions: Each new curricular item is VALIDATED by specific persons (usually biblioteconomists) located in the 8 provinces Items are recorded in REAL TIME. Time to validation takes normally some days. SICA is now being revamped into a new information system with more ambitious objectives. The project is called SICA2
Benefits from SICA From the point of view of researchers A system that maintains CVs up-to-date Continuous evaluation of CVs No time dedicated to the updating of CVs Easy access to public funded projects through normalized CVs. No papers are wasted. From the point of view of evaluators CV items are linked to impact assessment Trust on the information related to the CV From the point of view of Policy makers Rapid feedback of each new initiative. Possibility of extracting many indicators. An instantaneous and reliable picture of the current state of research in the whole region
