Weekly message from the Headteacher Mrs Key Thank you to Year 8 parents for a really busy and positive parents evening last night. It was great to see so many happy faces and I am always very grateful for the positive support the teachers and students at Chailey School receive from parents. I know for many of you it is a long journey into school after a hard day at work. The East Sussex Campaign for Fair and Sufficient Funding for Education is continuing and I would like to publicly thank the parents who have personally written to MPs, responded to the Government consultation or supported education in any way. To update you on progress I can report that MPs received an identical letter from the Headteachers of schools in thirteen different Counties and Education Authorities on Tuesday. A copy of the letter is on our website if you would like to read it. Creative Writing Competition at Chailey School To coincide with 'Word Book Day' and to promote and cultivate our love of reading at Chailey School, we are organising a Chailey Creative Writing Competition for all students in years 7, 8 and 9. The rules are as follows: Any creative writing is welcome e.g. a poem, an introduction to a story, a factual article, a short story. The writing MUST be between 250-500 words. The deadline is Wednesday 29 th March. Hand the work in to your English teacher or to Mrs Duck in the school library and make sure your name is clearly marked on it. Congratulations from Rt Hon Nick Gibb MP We had some excellent feedback on our curriculum this month from Rt. Hon Nick Gibb MP (Minister of State for School Standards). See attached letter. He congratulated us on our incredibly high percentage of students who enter for all of the core academic GCSEs. These subjects are English Language and English Literature, Mathematics, two Sciences, a Modern Foreign Language and either History or Geography. It is great to have our curriculum so very highly praised.
