Spanish Learner Objectives Grade 6 - Spanish Exposure Course (Trimester) 1. Understand and reproduce the Spanish alphabet sounds. 2. Apply the Spanish alphabet sounds in pronunciation and spelling. 3. Begin learning commonplace Spanish nouns and phrases. 4. Introduce basic grammatical concepts. 5. Apply Spanish punctuation and written accent rules. 6. Utilize different foreign language study techniques. 7. Discuss the importance and benefits of second language acquisition. 8. Conduct research involving the Hispanic community worldwide. 9. Learn Spanish-related holidays and cultures worldwide. Grade 7 - Lincoln-Way High School Spanish I Program Text: Exprésate!, Chapters 1-5 Introductory Lessons and Chapter 1 1. Recite the alphabet and spell words using the Spanish alphabet. 2. Recognize cognates. 3. Apply punctuation marks and accent marks. 4. Recognize gender of nouns. 5. Exchange greetings and ask how one is doing identify and describe people, using the verb ser (to be). 6. There will also be several short cultural readings on Hispanic history, geography, fine arts, and pop culture throughout each chapter.
