Leadership Project: Meeting Notes By Lana Titus (online) Spring 2013 October 9, 2012 Discussed some options of materials to use during Rocket Reading time Students 6-18 months below benchmark can use the Write in Readers from the reading series High kids can use the Day 5 whole group activities (text to world) or the unit project Para will be working with the bubble kids first then with the red and yellow kids if time allows, because red and yellows already receive extra services with at risk teachers October 12, 2012 Discussed how Rocket Reading is going One teacher is upset because benchmark groups are so diverse in guided reading level, explained that they are working on specific AIMSWeb data skill One teacher asked when teacher input would be considered, explained that was what the first meeting was for (Sept. 25, 2012), she opted to leave at the beginning of that meeting because she wanted to do her student folders Discussed how to focus on needed skills in those groups and look at guided reading levels better during the next sorting time Other groups are going well with QPS and PAST skills being worked on Everyone is pulling good hands on paper activities
October 16, 2012 Discussed last week s progress monitoring Benchmark kids- PAST, QPS Yellow and red kids- AIMS web (charted) Discussed Rocket Reading, how s it going Protocol is 3 passes on progress monitoring test, 2 of the passes must be consequtive Two more weeks till shuffling of kids (quadrant sorting) Discussed deletion of sound difficulties for first and ending sounds Kids not making progress, do we need to wait till Christmas?? Progress monitoring bubble kids next week October 23, 2012 Discussed how progress monitoring weekly is showing mostly gains (Yea!!) Reviewed red and yellow kids progress gains Next week we reshuffle kids (quadrant sorting) Friday is the end of this Rocket reading session so turn in folders with progress monitoring and notes No Rocket Reading next week Discussed questions about one teachers bubble kids being tested and a few that are focusing on bubble kids Discuss moving some push in time for one teacher to mornings because during whole group time is not working out. Pull bubble kids and one that teacher is worried about.

Fine tuned kids that are on the edge, bubble kids, and picking up new kids to At Risk teachers Para to work with bubble kids and extra 30 minutes a day of pull out time Para will also work for 10 minutes a day with students who are still struggling with PSF January 9, 2013 FINISH SORTING Discussed Rocket Reading groups and making sure all low kids are services We need to sort 66 students into six benchmark groups 3 paras and 3 teachers Other 2 teachers will have 2 lowest groups other than the red and yellow kids that are with the At Risk teachers
