It is 3 Km far away from Theni Town. Many Schemes are being implemented to Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Denotified Communities and Minority People under the Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Denotified Communities Department following the instructions issued by the Government then and there. The following Schemes are being implemented through the District Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Office, Theni for the Welfare of Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Denotified Communities and Minority People as detailed below : SCHEMES : I. Prematric Scholarship for Minorities Students : I (i) Prematric Scholarship for Minorities Students From 1st Std to X th Std = Rs.1000/- 1.Family annual income limit for the both Tamil and English Medium Rs.1,00,000/- for Minority Students. 2.50% of marks in the last exam for Minority students. II. Post Matric Scholarship for Minority Students 11th 12th Std (Tamil / English Medium) Degree, Master Degree and Diploma Students are studying in Government and Government Aided Arts and Science Colleges, Polytechnic Colleges and Professional Colleges for eligible. XIth & XIIth = Days caller 2300 Hosteller : 3800 B.A., BSc., = Rs.3000 above MSc., = Rs.5000/- above 1 Family annual income limit Rs.2,00,000/- for Minority Students. 1.50% of marks in the last exam for Minority students. 2.Educational Scholarship for BC / MBC / DNC Students : (ii)permatric Scholarship (English Medium) BC, MBC/DNC students those who are studying english Medium in Government and Government Aided Schools. -1

From 6th Std to 8th Std = Rs.200/-P.A From 9th Std to 10th Std = Rs.250/-P.A From 11th and 12th Std = Rs.500/-P.A. III Free Education Scholarship: First Graduate Students in the family from BC, MBC/DNC candidates are eligible. Arts and Science Colleges ; 1.Family annual income limit Rs.2,00,000/- BC Students only. 2.0% of marks in the last exam for 3.Students should be first graduate in the family for MBC/DNC no such limitation. Polytechnic Professional Colleges : 1.Family annual income limit Rs.2,00,000/- 2.40% of marks in the last exam for BC and MBC only for DNC no such limitation. 3.Students should be first graduate in the family. Free Education Scholarship for Professional UG Degree Courses Medical, Engineering, Law, Agriculture, Veterinary etc..) The BC/MBC/DNC Students studying Professional UG Degree Courses in Government / Government Aided Professional Colleges in Theni. The Parents income ceiling is Rs.2,00,000/- Per Annum and belonging to nongraduate family are eligible for scholarship scheme. Under this scheme Tuition fee, special fee other nonrefundable fess and Exam fee are sanctioned in full. In addition to these fees, book money as prescribed in the Tamil Nadu State Scholarship Notification as Sanctioned. With the above condition the students admitted under Government quota through Single Window System in the self professional colleges are eligible. Under the scheme and scholarships are sanctioned at the rates prescribed for Government Professional colleges. Sanction of Scholarship : From the year 2009-10 Scholarships are sanctioned on web based system to the BC/MBC/DNC students studying in Colleges through District Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Officers. Rural Girls Incentive Scheme (MBC/DNC Candidates only) For the benefit of MBC/DNC Girls children in rural area to prevent dropouts of schools, They are sanctioned. 3rd to 5th Std Rs.500/- per year 6th Std Rs.1000/- per year. Family income Limit : Rs. 25,000/- per annum eligible. 1.Government and Government Aided School in rural area. 2.MBC / DNC Girls students only deserted 3.Given priority to Destitute & Deserted Widow s Children. -2-

Total No. Benefitted School : Top 10 Level Marks Hostel in 10th Std Students (BC & MBC) Students Special Scholarship to study in the reputed private school in Tamil Nadu. Top 10 level marks holders in 10th Std in District level arte sanctioned for their higher Secondary studies in the reputed schools in Tamil Nadu at the Rate of Rs.28,000/- per year. BC MBC/DNC BOYS 3 GIRLS 3 BOYS 2 GIRLS 2 Conditions: Boarding Grants 1.10th Std should have studied in Government School. 2.11th Std should be studied in reputed private school. 3.Parent Income limit Rs.2,00,000/- per annum Sanctioned for the students those who are studying in private hostel are recognized by the Government BC/MBC/DNC Candidates Rs.650/- per month. Parents income limit Rs.50,000/- There is no need of separate application submitted. In Theni Distrtict Vivekananda Hostel Cumbum is functioning at Cumbum. Free Bicycle Distribution Scheme: Bicycles are distributed to the +1, students of BC/MBC/DNC & Minorities of Government School, and Aided and party Aided Schools of Theni District. There is no eligible criteria. There is no need separate application. Free Bicycles are being disbursed as per the Govt. time schedule issued then and there. As of now, Govt. have instructed to distribute the free bicycles to the students, as soon as admitted into the schools and it should be entered and reported through Government Web sites. Anna Memorial Award : Top Scores of 12th Std in District Level and studying in the professional Colleges are sanctioned Rs.10,000/- those who are belong to BC/MBC/DNC. -3- From the year 2009 2010 it has been enhanced to Rs.5000/- Each. Thanthai Periyar Memorial Award : Top Scores of 10th Std in Theni District level and studying in the polytechnic Colleges are sanctioned Rs.10,000/- each students. BOYS 10,000 BC GIRLS 10,000 BOYS 10,000 MBC/DNC GIRLS 10,000 From the year 2009 2010 it has been enhanced to Rs.5000/- Each. Other Prizes : Top Scores of 10th and 12th Std in District level students are belonging to BC/MBC/DNC. The Prize details are as follows: For 10th Std Ist Price is Rs. 3000/- 2nd Price Rs. 2000/- 3rd Price Rs. 1000/- For 12th Std Ist Price is Rs.6000/- 2 nd Price Rs.4000/- 3 rd Price Rs.2000/- Hostel Maintenance : School Hostel : 1.From 4th Std to 12th Studying students are eligible. 2.Family Income Rs.1,00,000/- P.A. 3.For Boys-Schools should be situated beyond 8Km from the living place. 4.For Girls No limitations. 5. Aadhar no. should be furnished. - 4

School Hostels 24 Boys Girls BC 13 3 MBC 1 3 DNC 1 2 Minority - 1 College Hostels -6 BC 2 2 MBC - 1 DNC 1 0 Total 18 12 Hostel Buildings : Total No. of Hostels : 30 Functioning in Government : 27 Buildings Functioning in Private / Rented : 3 Building The following actions and precautionary measures are taken to improve the functioning of the Hostels under this Department. i) Students have been instructed to be present at their hostel immediately after the school hours. ii) iii) iv) Wardens have been instructed to take the students who got fever or some other health problems. are admitted to the hospitals immediately for proper treatment and also to inform the parents of the students. Further to inform the D,B.C.M.W.O. Maintenance of movement register to the Staffs and Wardens. As per the Government norms students fof the hostels are provided with good quality of food further they are provide with muttons and chicken twice a month and eggs for a week. Wardens must supervise the preparation of good foods and also the distribution of the foods to the students at all the three times of a day. v) The Wardens / Matrons are instructed to test and taste of the food before it is supplied to the students. vi) vii) viii) ix) Students are provided with Bath Soaps and Cleaning Soaps. Wardens / Matrons are instructed to watch the cleanness of Kitchen, Dining Room, Toilets & Surroundings of Hostels regularly. Cooks have been instructed to clean the kitchen vessels regularly. All the students are advised to refer the hostel library books to improve their knowledge.

-5 - x) The Wardens/Matrons are instructed to watch the Students studies at the evening time and clear their doubts also. xi) xii) xiii) xiv) xv) xvi) Wardens / Matrons are take the responsible for supply of the purified water to students. A Teamj under the Chairmanship of the District Collector including members in the rank of Deputy Collectors to inspect the hostels are also formed. Four medical Camps for a year have been organized to check up the health of the students and to the necessary students. Hostel Rooms and Surroundings are sprayed with the Pest Control once ina year to avoid infections to students. Wardens / Matrons are instructed to maintain the Hostel lights and Fans. The Wardens / Matrons are instructed, to not involved the students in any work other than their studies. xvii) The Wardens and Matrons are advised to ring to the mobile of the D.B.C.M.W. immediately, any king of problem arrives in the hostels and also take necessary steps to correct the problems. Distribution of free House site Pattas Scheme : Free House site pattas are given to houseless BC/MBC/DNC & Minorities people in the District through the land acquisition by the private negotiation The income Criteria to avail the benefit under this schemes is eligibility. Rs. 16,000/- P.A. in Rural Area Rs. 24,000/- P.A. in Urban Area Distribution of free Iron Boxes : Those who are doing ironing Professional and belong to BC/MBC/DNC & Minorities are eligible for the scheme Income should be Rs. 40,000/- P.A. in Rural. Rs. 60,000/- P.A. in Urban. Distribution of Sewing Machines: Knowledge of Tailoring and belong to BC/MBC/DNC & Minorities are eligible for the scheme Income should be Rs. 40,000/- P.A. in Rural. Rs. 60,000/- P.A. in Urban. Age Limit 20-45. - 6

TABCEDCO SCHEME: (TAMILNADU BACKWARD CLASSES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION 1982 onwards) Term loans are being sanctioned through various schemes by TABCEDCO BC/MBC/DNC people 1. Belong to BC/MBC/DNC 2. Income Limit : Rs. 81,000/- year in rural Rs. 1,03,000/- year in urban. 3. Age should be acove 18 4. One member only is eligible for a family. Maximum Loan Limit : Rs. 1 Lakh Rate of Interest:6% Rs. 5 Lakh (with permission of National Corporation) Repaying term : 1 1 year to 5 years Micro Loan Scheme : For BC/MBC/DNC women Loan eligibility upto 50,000/- Repaying term 1 year to 3 years Rate of Interest is 5% for male and 4% for Female 1. Applicant should be a member of self help group. The loan is disbursed through self help group. TAMCO SCHEME : (TAMILNADU MINORITIES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION 1999-2000) Term loans are being sanctioned thing various shamed by TAMCO to minorities. 1. Belong to Minorities (Muslims /Christians / Sikhs & Buddies) 2. Income Limit : Rs. 81,000/- year in rural 3. Age should be above 18 Rs. 1,03,000/- year in urban 4. One member only is eligible for a family. Maximum Loan limit : Rs. 1 Lakh Rs. 5 Lakhs (with permission of National Corporation) Repaying term : 1 year to 3 years. Rate of Interest is 5% - 7

Micro Loan Scheme : For minorities women Loan eligibility from 1,50,000/- repaying term 1 year to 3 years. Rate of Interest is 6% 1.Applicant should be a member of self helf. 2.The loan is disbursed through self helf group DIRECTORATE OF MINORITIES The Directorate of Minorities has been started from 1.8.2007. The Various schemes are being implemented to the Minorities by the BC/MBC Commissioner. MUSLIM WOMEN AID SOCIETY : As per the G.O. No:14 BC, MBC & MW Department Dated : 23.4.2007 Government ordered to form a society namely Muslim Aided Society for the uplifrt of Muslim Women in all manners. As instructed by the Government. Theni District Muslim women Aid Society has been registered Vide : Reg. No:80/2008, Dated : 13.5.2008. IRRIGATION IMPROVEMENT LOAN As per the G.O. No:111 Dated :3.12.2007 Government have pronounced a irrigation improvement loan to ther BC, MBC & DNC Marginal /Small farmers through TABCEDCO with 50% subsidy for the Maximum amount of 50,000/-Rupees. NARIKURAVAR BENEFIT SCHEME: As per the G.O. NO:60 Dated : 24.5.2008 under this scheme is being implemented by the District backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Office, Theni. So far 146 membership cards have been issued top the members. DENOTIFIED COMMUNITIES BENEFICIARY SCHEME: As per the G.O. NO: 13, 29 Dated : 20.4.2007, 28.3.2008 this scheme is being implemented by the District Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Office, Theni. So far 6016 cards have been issued to the members. The following schemes are also implemented. 1.Accident Relief Scheme 2.Assistance for Handicapped by Accident 3.Assistance for Natural Dealth 4.Assistance for Funeral 5.Assistance for pregnant 6.Supply of free Spectacles 7.Old Age Pension 8.Education Scholarship For 10th Std Rs.1000/- For 12th Std Rs. 1500/- -8
