September -06 - Visit to Nangli for BPL cards, and to enquire about the toilet facility and the subsidy given by the Government for it - Monthly Apollo clinic started in Sanp Ki Nangli. About 100 beneficiaries were screened and given free medicines - Visit to Nagina to explore the possibility of using Al-Alifa general hospital (Madhikhera) in the future - Visit to AADI for inputs and information regarding setting up of Vishwas Kendra in Gurgaon October -06 - Visit to Kushboo welfare society to in Gurgaon to see the facilities that were being provided by the school for special children - Meeting with Sudha of Aastha, Delhi - Meeting with Madhu of AADI, Delhi - Visit to Bangalore to meet Dr. Devi Shetty regarding future plans for Vishwas November -06 - Visit to AADI regarding their rural project - Visit to Sense International, Delhi to find out more about their organization - Meeting with the chairperson, Meenu Jalan and also Ms. Shyamla of AADI, to discuss their school programme December -06 - Meeting with Dr. Naresh Trehan to discuss various issues about starting Vishwas and also discuss locations in Gurgaon to base the Organization - Meeting with the Executive director of MAMTA, Dr. Sunil Mehra (Paediatrician), for rural health programme - Formatting of OPD cards for monthly clinic in Sohna Block - Drafting of survey forms for identification of special needs children in rural areas - Feasibility study for setting up a reverse mainstream primary school - Meeting with D.C., Gurgaon for obtaining a Block map, data on disability, and to discuss issues regarding healthcare January -07 - Rural survey forms planned and discussed - Drafting of letters for donation and invitations for prospective board members - Meeting with Shroff Eye Hospital about a possible tie up for eye-camps in rural areas - Planning stationery for Vishwas February -07 - Meeting with Shantanu and Sachu of Shroff Eye Hospital to explore the possibility of setting up a vision centre as a part of Vishwas 2

- Meeting with C.A. for accounts and to prepare receipts for donations - Field visit to Sohna and Gurgaon offices as well as hospitals - Meeting with Dr. Vimal Akhouri for drafting a rural survey form - Liaising with various HUDA officials for a school site for Vishwas Kendra - Field visit with Nangli school headmaster to schools in four villages, namely Sohna Dhani, Mohammadpur, Dhunela, Berka falling under Sohna block March -07 - Meeting with Sudha from Astha (NGO) for further inputs to set up Vishwas - Meeting with administrative officials for school site and related issues - Allotment of a school site for Vishwas in Sushant Lok-I, Gurgaon School site allotted to Vishwas April -07 - Started renovation on the allotted site for Vishwas with the help of HUDA and some well wishers of Vishwas - The process of appointing board members and obtaining their DIN numbers was started - Meeting various people to find suitable staff in Gurgaon (special educators, social-worker, therapist, helpers) for Vishwas - Meeting with MLA to discuss work to be done in Nangli village - Supervising construction work at the school site, for instance construction of a ramp and disabled friendly sidewalks in order to make the school accessible 3

Preparation of backyard in progress May -07 - Supervision of renovation work in school continues, and the backyard is prepared for play and outdoor activities - Visited all the branches of Tamana school for special needs children to see their facilities - Toilet modifications and other changes in order to make the school disabled friendly - Visit by Vandana Bedi from AADI to the school site for advice and guidance - Meeting with the D.C., Gurgaon - Meeting with various government officials in the education department - Visit to Vikas Sadan to meet the A.D.C. - Visit to DHBVN office in Gurgaon for electricity connection in the school - Meeting with the likely staff held at the school site in Sushant Lok to decide on school timings, age group of the children, fee structure and other administrative issues - Planned basic furniture and material for therapy for the school June -07 - Work continues at the school site - Meeting with Poonam Natrajan of National Trust - Meeting with General Cardozo of RCI regarding setting up of Vishwas - Sudha from Aastha visits the school site - Work commences towards making a web site for Vishwas 4

July -07 - Applications reviewed and three persons appointed physiotherapist, social worker and psychologist. The vision of Vishwas discussed in detail and views incorporated - Meeting with staff at the school site - Case record Proforma for children with special needs discussed and made - Registration form made - Meeting with Ramdayal, a specialist carpenter, to discuss and order classroom furniture suitable for children with special needs August -07 - Draft made for newspaper advertisement announcing admissions procedure - Guidelines for the school laid down. These included timing and administration, amongst other things - Vishwas gets its first OPD case September -07 - Helper appointed - Visit to Wazirabad PHC for referrals. - Blocks in which to start Outreach programme were selected, namely Sohna and Gurgaon. - Villages in these two blocks were selected to start work October -07 - Advertisements given in newspapers declaring admission open for special children - Appointment of a Special Educator - School becomes operational - Appointment of administrative staff - Three special children and two normal children admitted in school - Decision to make Vishwas an inclusive primary school. Decided that underprivileged children to be given preference The school opens 5

November -07 - Vishwas sets up a stall in Unitech Country Club for Diwali mela in which parents also participate - Appointment of Speech therapist. - Field visit to Sohna girls school to meet the Special educator there - Diwali celebrations with the children in the school - Two more special children admitted, taking the total strength of children to seven Vishwas stall at Diwali Mela December -07 - Children were taken out for a picnic along with their parents to Sohna - Christmas celebrated in school - A visit to the dispensary run by Seagram (as part of Corporate Social Responsibility) was made to find out about the facilities provided for the economically weaker people and explore a possible tie up for medical camps in various villages Picnic in Sohna 6

- Strength of children increases to 7 special and 2 normal - School closes for the winter vacation January -08 - School reopens after the winter break - O.P.D. section started for case study, physiotherapy, speech, I.Q. and special education - Visit to Arunodaya eye hospital for tie up for eye check up of our school children and also in the rural areas, especially Sohna block - Painting class with artist Bulbul Sharma - First parent-teachers meeting (P.T.M.) organized to discuss any issues that the parents may have. Staff was introduced to parents and rules and regulations discussed in detail - Visit to Max-Hospital to enquire if they have facilities for hearing checkup Painting with Bulbul Sharma - Republic Day celebrations with Saksham, a school for underprivileged children - Staff visit to Sohna girls School to see the infrastructure present there and to meet the special eduator, visit also to Nagli primary school - Total strength of students increases to 11 special, 4 normal and 2 O.P.D. cases 7

Republic Day celebrations February -08 - Vishwas gets a disabled friendly school bus - Bus service started for the children from the neighboring areas - Visit again to Arunodaya eye hospital - 3 new O.P.D. cases received. Assessments were done and services were provided accordingly Children boarding the Vishwas bus - 5 day workshop on Developmental Disabilities organized by NIMH was attended by Speech therapist - School running full swing, with the total strength of special children going up to 12, 4 normal and 4 O.P.D. cases 8

March -08 - Field visit to Sohna, meeting with B.E.O. to discuss possibility of public-private partnership which would help in the spread of inclusive education in schools in rural areas - Visit to the centre for hearing impaired in Gurgaon for referrals and co-operation - P.T.M. to discuss the progress of each child and setting up of long term and short term goals in consultation with the parents - Holi celebrated enthusiastically with the children of Saksham - Visit by an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Navin Talwar, for assessment of C.P. children requiring medical intervention - The number of O.P.D. cases increases to 7 - End of academic session - Two day workshop on Effective Training Strategies for Children with Diverse Needs, organized by the National Trust, was attended by 2 special educators Getting ready to perform in a play during Holi celebrations April -08 - School reopens for the new session - World Autism day celebrated in India habitat centre, children taken from school to participate in the drawing competition. One child wins a second prize in the competition - Painting classes with Bulbul Sharma continued. - Music classes introduced for children, by a volunteer teacher Karuna Goenka Prize winner Yogesh 9

- Field visit to Sohna block to conduct a workshop for the Anganwadi workers for Identification of children with special needs. Pamphlets regarding the same distributed - Field visit to Kanhai gaon to attend a circle meeting and to conduct a workshop for the Anganwadi workers for identification of children. - Visit by orthopedic surgeon Dr Navin Talwar for follow up of cases requiring surgical intervention - Visit by a specialist for Autism to work with Autistic children. Staff dealing with such children trained and given specialized tips - Hand operated tricycle arranged by Vishwas given to a physically challenged person from Nangli village - Total number of special children 14, normal 10, O.P.D cases 8 Tricycle provided by Vishwas May -08 - Visit to District Social Welfare Board to enquire about the People With Disabilities Act registration. - 3 new cases for vocational training - Home visit of a child who had undergone surgery - Visit to Jharsa village and to Sohna to attend the circle level Anganwadi meeting. The list of special needs children is collected from the Anganwadi workers - School closes for the summer break 10
