WHO ARE WE? ALCC American Language has been teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) since 1975. Total beginner to advanced courses are offered: speaking, pronunciation, practical grammar, reading, listening, writing, and TOEFL preparation. Placement in the appropriate level is determined through a verbal and written examination. More than 10,000 students from all over the world come to study English at ALCC American Language every year. We have taken students from a total beginner level to our most advanced English level, and then on to university, professional, or specialized training. ALCC American Language is certified to teach ESL by the New York State Department of Education and accredited by CEA. We are authorized under U.S. federal law to issue the I-20 form needed to receive the F-1 student visa. THE ALCC ENGLISH METHOD IT WORKS! Since 1975, ALCC American Language has developed a highly effective method for teaching English. The ALCC English Method makes use of practical and conversational activities to teach a grammatically correct English. The ALCC English Method makes learning fun and easy. All activities are conducted in English; this is the most effective way to learn a new language. Classes are made up of students from many countries. You have no choice but to speak English with fellow students! Our method forms the solid foundation necessary to advance on to American universities and colleges or to enter professional and specialized training programs. Students also improve their ability to get better jobs, promotions, or to better enjoy their lives in the US.

COURSE INFORMATION PRACTICAL ENGLISH: MASTER SPEAKING Our eight-level ESL program at ALCC American Language has been developed with the specific needs of our students in mind. Our unique methodology incorporates practical conversation, grammar, reading, writing, and pronunciation in all levels. We use carefully selected and up-to-date textbooks including texts developed by us as well as many different types of conversational activities to create a fun and easy English learning environment. Our experienced teachers create an Englishspeaking-only class right from the first day. We have professional on-site interviewers for the immediate evaluation of the student s level. Spoken English is our focus in all levels from Basic to Advanced. Writing and reading skills are also an important part of our English program. After completing the basic levels, students are able to speak about their personal lives, as well as the places and activities they are familiar with. In the intermediate levels, the students are now able to express opinions and thoughts more easily, incorporating commonly used idioms. The students in our advanced levels have the opportunity to expand their vocabulary and practice their conversation with up-to-date and realistic themes. ELECTIVE COURSES MASTER WRITING Designed to improve the writing skills of the student in the shortest period of time. This course incorporates exercises which target the different elements of writing in English, in conjunction with daily compositions. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Designed to complement the Master Speaking course with more of a focus on communication skills and to improve the student s use of practical English for everyday life. BUSINESS ENGLISH Study English in the business capital of the world New York City! The purpose of this program is to teach the student to function effectively in a business setting. ACCENT REDUCTION This course covers all areas of pronunciation and accent reduction. You will improve your ability to speak like an American and understand day to day modern American English. TOEFL This program prepares you for the TOEFL exam which is required by most American universities and colleges. PRIVATE LESSONS A program just for you. You tell us how many hours a day and at what time you want to study, and we ll find one of our ESL teachers to be your private teacher. Students are awarded a Certificate after successful completion of each course.
