ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA Candidates, intending to apply for LDC and UDC should ensure that they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria specified in this advertisement: I. Nationality / Citizenship: A candidate must be either (i) a Citizen of India or (ii) a subject of Nepal or (iii) a subject of Bhutan Sr. No. II. Educational Qualifications (As on 05.09.2017): Lower Divisional Clerk: Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University. Upper Divisional Clerk : A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognised by the Govt. Of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. Calculation of Percentage: The percentage marks shall be arrived at by dividing the total marks obtained by the candidate in all the subjects in all semester(s)/year(s) by aggregate maximum marks (in all the subjects irrespective of honours / optional / additional optional subject, if any) multiplied by 100. This will be applicable for those Universities also where Class / Grade is decided on basis of Honours marks only. Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing minimum cut-off marks overall. II. III. Penalty for Wrong Answers (Applicable to both Lower and Upper Divisional Clerk Exam) There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is marked by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question. IV. Examination Centres (i) The examination will be conducted online in venues across many centres in India. (ii) No request for change of centre for Examination shall be entertained. (iii) BGY, however, reserves the right to cancel any of the Examination anytime at its discretion, depending upon the response, administrative feasibility, etc Scores The corrected scores obtained by each of the candidates in different sessions (if held) will be normalized using equi-percentile method. Scores up to two decimal points shall be taken for the purpose of calculations Cut-off Score (Online Examination) Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test of Online examination and also a minimum total score to be considered to be shortlisted for interview. Depending on the number of vacancies available, cut-offs will be decided and candidates will be shortlisted for interview. C. IDENTITY VERIFICATION (i) DOCUMENTS TO BE PRODUCED In the examination hall as well as at the time of interview, the call letter along with a photocopy of the candidate s photo identity (bearing exactly the same name as it appears on the call letter) such as PAN Card/ Passport/ Driving Licence/ Voter s Card/ Bank Passbook with photograph/ Photo identity proof issued by a Gazzetted Officer/ People s Representative along with a photograph / Identity Card issued by a recognised college/ university/ Aadhar card with a photograph/ Employee 2

ID should be submitted to the invigilator for verification. The candidate s identity will be verified with respect to his/her details on the call letter, in the Attendance List and requisite documents submitted. If identity of the candidate is in doubt the candidate may not be allowed to appear for the Examination/ interview. In case of candidates who have changed their name, they will be allowed only if they produce original Gazette notification / their original marriage certificate / affidavit in original. (ii) BIOMETRIC DATA Capturing and Verification It has been decided to capture and verify the biometric data (right thumb impression or otherwise). Please note: The biometric data and photograph will be captured / verified on the following occasions (i) Before the start of the examination it will be captured (ii) At the end of examination before leaving the exam hall / lab (iii) At the time of document verification before the interview if shortlisted (iv) At the time of joining if provisionally allotted Decision of the Biometric data verification authority with regard to its status (matched or mismatched) shall be final and binding upon the candidates. Refusal to participate in the process of biometric data capturing / verification on any of the above mentioned occasions may lead to cancellation of candidature. Candidates are requested to take care of the following points in order to ensure a smooth process - If fingers are coated (stamped ink/mehndi/coloured...etc), ensure to thoroughly wash them so that coating is completely removed before the exam / interview / joining day. - If fingers are dirty or dusty, ensure to wash them and dry them before the finger print (biometric) is captured. - Ensure fingers of both hands are dry. If fingers are moist, wipe each finger to dry them. - If the primary finger (right thumb) to be captured is injured/damaged, immediately notify the concerned authority in the test centre. In such cases impression of other fingers, toes etc may be captured. D. INDICATIVE SYLLABUS: Lower Divisional Clerk of the Examination: Section 1: General English: Questions in this components will be designed to test the candidate s understanding and knowledge of English Language and will be based on spot the error, fill in the blanks, synonyms, antonyms, spelling/detecting mis-spelt words, idioms & phrases, one word substitution, improvement of sentences, active/passive voice of verbs, conversion into direct/indirect narration, shuffling of sentence parts, shuffling of sentences in a passage, cloze passage & comprehension passage. Section 2: Numerical Ability : The questions will be designed to test the ability of appropriate use of numbers and number sense of the candidate. The scope of the test will be the computation of whole numbers, decimals,fractions and relationships between numbers, Percentage. Ratio & Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Alligation, Time and distance, Time & Work, Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra & Elementary surds, Graphs of Linear Equations, Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles, Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square base, Trigonometric ratio, Degree and Radian Measures, Standard Identities, Complementary angles, Heights and Distances, Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar diagram & Pie chart 3

Section 3: Reasoning Ability : It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type.
