Dear Parents and Caregivers, Our School Representative Council We have had a wonderful year working with our SRC and we would like to sincerely thank Ms Welby, Ms Volker and Mrs Griffin for the guidance they have given to this enthusiastic and hard working group of students. In Term 4 of each year, the SRC workshops ideas to give something to the school, that can be of use in the future. In previous years, we have provided Welcome Packs for new students, Our Manners Board and the Hand Ball Rules Board. This year we would like to do something a little different. At our meeting on Monday we discussed the fact that we, as a school, are so blessed. We only have to look at our new buildings to see how much we have been given. So, this year, instead of giving back to the school, we are going to give to those less fortunate than ourselves. The SRC are going make up some Christmas packages for the homeless of Mackay. We are currently discussing how we are going to go about raising the funds to buy items, or if we are going to ask for donations. The students have already started to make a list of the items a homeless person may find useful, and of course what treats may be suitable as well. We will keep you informed about this SRC project. Working with this group reminds us what generous, hardworking, compassionate, innovative students we have at St Francis Xavier. We are grateful to be a part of this community. Kind Regards, Miss Mary Oxenham APA
FROM the Assistant Principal APRE Amanda Griffin Mysteries for Certain Weekdays Monday - Joyful Tuesday - Sorrowful Wednesday - Glorious Thursday - Luminous Friday - Sorrowful Saturday - Joyful Sunday - Glorious October is the Month of the Rosary. The Rosary is a great prayer honouring Mary, by praying the Rosary we are asking Mary to help us to become closer to God. The Rosary has been prayed in Christian families, households and communities throughout the centuries. Each decade of the Rosary consists of the Our Father, 10 Hail Marys and the Glory Be. It is a devotion which, through scripture based meditation, leads us to reflect on the important events in the lives of Jesus and Mary. There are four different Mysteries, Pope John Paul II suggested that they are said on specific days. The Joyful Mysteries The Annunciation The Visitation The Nativity The Presentation The Finding in the Temple The Luminous Mysteries The Baptism in the Jordan The Wedding at Cana The Proclamation of the Kingdom The Transfiguration The Institution of the Eucharist The Sorrowful Mysteries The Agony in the Garden The Scourging at the Pillar The Crowning with Thorns The Carrying of the Cross The Crucifixion ST FRANCIS XAVIER FEAST DAY MASS Family & Friends are welcome to attend St Francis Xavier Feast Day Mass Friday 20 October, 2017 9.30am St Francis Xavier Church Dates for the Preparation and Celebration of the Sacrament of Penance SFX St Mary s St Michael s (Sarina) St Patrick s The Glorious Mysteries The Resurrection The Ascension The Descent of the Holy Spirit The Assumption The Coronation Session 3 Celebration of the Sacrament Wed 18 th Oct 7pm SFX Church Tues 17 th Oct 7pm St Mary s Church Sun 5 th November After 9.00am mass 15 th November Time (TBA) Wed 11 th Oct Classrooms beside St Pat s Hall Sun 22 nd Oct St Patrick s 5pm before 6pm Mass
